Definitely fake, too many inconsistencies with other leaks as well as the font is the wrong colour

The only thing definite in your post is that you definitely have not used ios7. When you load a light colored background, the fonts become black.

People get very confused around launch time every year, between things that are real and things they wish were not.

Most of the markets the 5C targets actually love bling and bright 'look at me' colors. To me they are all pretty gaudy and ugly but I bet they sell like crazy. Apple has clearly done their market research on this one.

Have you seen the speedos and stripe socks they wear in europe? Americans for the most part have a completely different (more conservative) sense of style then the rest of the world... and Ives 'is' european.

I think you've never been to Europe. Americans have a more conservative sense? Are you crazy? If you compare the markets in Europe and in the US, the 5C suits more for the average US citizen.

Maybe they should rename the pink one to the iPhone 5P :)

The red one, that didn't look like pink? I'm a guy and I had one and nobody would believe it was red I had to show them the product red square.

There was a pink version and a red version of the 3rd gen nano. The red is clearly red, so I am not sure what you're talking about. What is shown in these photos is clearly pink iPhones.

Is £279 in the UK.

See, Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt

Sorry to be an a** hole, but in almost everything mentioned on this site, the US comes first. So no, $199 off contract. Your situation is the exception.

The pink was in the basic line-up of colors. Apple has traditionally added an additional color to their basic line-up which has been a "product red" unit, where it comes in a nice robust red. The traditional line-up of colors they have are more light shades of colors, unlike the product red color. It doesn't appear that the iPhone 5C is going to come in "Product red" red, and in the color line-up we've seen, the "red" looks more like pink.

Apple design reputation jumps shark as they introduce a phone design only Dell could love. The black face plate shouts " CHEAP"--a lot cheaper than even the discounted asking price

I've been to far more of Europe then you have for sure, and far more of America too... I wasn't criticizing Europe by the way, speedos and stripped socks just aren't my style.

The one who looks stupid here is not original poster but you...
400 USD is NOT cheap especially for a mid end phone that is dedicated to emerging countries. It is actually too pricey even for our markets when comparable phone Nexus 4 is priced at 200 usd off contract...
And please dont say I dont know what I am talking about I bought my 3GS at 1000 EUR back in 2009!

Nope.. it's DEFINITELY you!! I just hit up notoriously inexpensive cell phone website, Amazon.com, & as it turns out, the exceedingly mid-grade, several years old Samsung Galaxy S3 is selling for $425 outright. Lol, you clearly do NOT know what you're talking about. I know, you guys like to use Nexus as the ONE example & pretend like that's common handset pricing. Hopefully you're aware that it isn't, and are just being sneaky & disingenuous... and are not genuinely ignorant. Also, in the case of the Nexus 4.. it doesn't even have 4g LTE..! Get real...
Then your post gets REALLY nonsensical. Wtf? $1000 for a 3GS is fine, but $400 for a 5C is ridiculous? Those are BOTH plastic phones. I am totally confused. Sounds like you just randomly choose what is cheap or expensive, with ABSOLUTELY no rhyme or reason whatsoever.

I think the black face plate allows you to more easily identify it as an iPhone.

Also since the idea is to be cheaper, it might be lower cost to manufacture this way. This could be the genius to the design.

What is the asking price? What about it is discounted?

crap. even $400 is not cheap.

The average income in the USA is about $40k (a little higher/lower depending on state) so $400 is well under 1 week's take home pay. Considering you generally keep a phone 104 weeks, that's only $4 per week to buy one.

The impetus for a cheap iPhone has said to be for emerging economies and international markets. Only looking at the US market, a market where most people don't buy unsubsidized phones, is a bit myopic.

I'm assuming these leaks are true or this is one hell of a hoax!

Strangely we've heard very little of the rumored iWatch or new Apple TV.

My be is next week we'll see the new iPhone(s) might get news on the next iPad(s). There is a outside chance Apple will quietly release the Haswell iMac and laptops. But I'm betting against any iWatch or Apple TV.

$400-$500 is disastrous pricing. That's minimally different than purchasing the flagship. If laugh if it was that price and so would the market.

Apple never said its the "cheap" iPhone, they will spin it as the Coloured variant of its popular phone still maintaining iPhone 5's specs.

If it has the specs of iPhone 5, as per the leaks, they cant justify the price of the iPhone 5 at 549, which is currently at 649. I think 449 would be what Apple wants it to be, they may reduce it to 399 just to counter google nexus 4's competitive pricing - this to me would still seem unlikely, given how Apple doesnt respond to market pricing instead they defend their product's strength.

Not seeing anything too genius. Apple really needs to unify their designs on the touch, nano and iphone aside from the ones that are either all white or black for the iPhone 5c. Slapping a color on the back and leaving the front the same colors looks lazy, at least with the design they have choices. Apple is so much about style yet they lost something along the way. The iPad's look perfectly fine, the 4s was great.

I do not live in the US so you can not really compare, here an iphone 5 16GB is still worth more than 800 USD off contract...
2009 was another story as I was saying. At this time there was no real competition to iphones and telcos distributing them (sometimes exclusively) were enjoying quite a high off contract premium.
Though it is still an outlier Nexus models introduced some benchmark floor in this ecosystem.
I remind you that Iphone 5C is supposed to be dedicated to emerging markets first, so yes i find it still too pricey for them, for Europe and depending on specs not necessarily
