Smooth as in iOS7's ADDED animation that slow down workflow?

Example: devices used to wake up instantly, now you have to wait for the fade in of the screen to finish before you can continue!

yep. I dont know how we are going to cope with those 0.3 secs..

So ugly. It's like Tim Cook and Johny Ive are on a mission to destroy Apple.

Something about these - the way they're put together, the packaging - seems so fake. I'm hoping if this is legit these phones are for China only.

Do all you people crying fake have any clue as to what it would take to fake a photo like the one in OP?

This is not some blurry pic of a single device laying on a table without packaging, posted months before launch. It's a pile of identical phones in packages, posted days before the actual launch, when the phones are ready to ship.

Let's hear from you naysayers exactly how you think this photo came to be. One phone, cloned in perspective? A stack of iPod touches, each colorized, with an iPhone home screen pasted on in perfect perspective? A 3D render made from scratch? A painting?

And while you're telling us how it was made, please also give an estimated length of time for creation of this single random photo, and your estimate as to the reasoning behind it or benefit someone might receive from spending what would undoubtedly be at least several hours to create it.

Please, since you're so much wiser than those of us who think the photo has no reason to be anything but real, educate us on how it was made so we can spot fakes in the future.

I'm pretty sure if you actually think for about, oh, 4 seconds, before typing FAKE, you'll quickly come to see it's not.
Photoshop...it would take photoshop. Ha ha.

The 5C is going to have to be priced competitively with the $200 Nexus 4 or else it has no chance. iOS might be worth a $100 premium, but price this thing at much more than $300 and it's DOA.

Seems legit to me. That level of detail and Apple-esque packaging are believable. I mean, this packaging really goes with the product---and its target audience in many places is younger people upgrading from iPod Touch.

The pink color is probably okay---the camera angle and lighting are wonky, so I don't trust this photo in that regard. I'd say the popular one is blue.

If this batch is illegite, I think the photo would be better quality.

eww... that's cheap! with that price($555) they should have used the same type of box they use for the original iphone

That colour looks hideous. Colour back and black front? Not sure about that. The iPod touch looks ok with a white front. Oh well I guess I'm not exactly their target market anyway.

No it doesn't. Nexus 4 is a year old phone and only available on the playstore at that price. As long as the price doesn't go to carriers, it's not competitive at all. Besides Apple doesn't give two rats about pricing, see iPad mini for comparison.

You obviously dont understand the phone market and distribution.

Many people dont buy an iphone simply because the price. Not all obviously, but many.

You obviously don't understand that most people (a very large majority) buy their iPhone or Android under contract with subsidized lower prices. iPhone 5 = $199. Most any high-end Android phone = $49-$199.

Tell me how those that can't afford an Android are going to be able to afford an iPhone?

The minority that do buy an Android (or iPhone) at full price is so small that your argument is almost meaningless. A $500 iPhone isn't going to cause any meaningful loss of sales to Android. Wake up.

Been thinking the same thing for awhile now. the iPod touch, the nano, even the odd two tone iPhone 5 etc... colors need to start blending better again. Now the iPhone 5C in all black would look fine.

A lot of people meaning 2% of all android users

People buy android 'cause it's cheap, you need to understand that

Most people only text, facebook and play some games, they don't need nothing more so iOS is perfect for about 9.9/10 people

Since you're the expert on Android sales, care to supply some links to recent surveys or research that support your claim?

I'm no expert (and don't claim to be), but I would GUESS that when it comes to pricing, that there isn't much difference between iPhone and Android since both are about $199 under contract. The Android phones referred to in these posts are the higher-end, higher-tech current models, not the throw-away super cheap Androids from Walmart.

Am I the only one who's like, damn, iOS 7 looks ugly on these shots!

I'm doubtful about these being legit because of how they depicted the background of iOS as the same color as the phone. Looks fugly and un-Apple like. So yeah, I agree it does on these, hope if it's legit they AT LEAST use the default freaking background...and pink? No, and no.

If these are accurate, I think they'll sell quite well. They're perfect for people who get iPhones for their kids, or people who just want a cheaper smart phone. You may think that this pink color looks awful, but show it to a 14 year old girl. (Which I'm guessing is in the target demographic.)

Also, the Nexus 4 at $199 does sound like a good deal. Although I've never actually seen anyone with a Nexus 4. Maybe that's why they're $199. Just sayin.

This is going to hurt Android a lot. Its going to be a good chance for many android users to discover what a smooth GUI is.

I don't know about that. The point of Apple vs Android is not its software, it's mainly its hardware and how it functions with the software. With this plastic hardware, it seems they are denying the original motto of superb, sleek look and feel.

As long as Google/Android is open source, it will be ahead of Apple in terms of software, since they are a software company. The only Android phones that can follow a close Hardware -> Software combination (to which the software is designed for the hardware) similar to the iPhone is the Nexus line.

The Nexus line is Googles annual flagship phone which features the newest version of android to which the OEM and Developers should take note from how it functions. The problem of these phones was always the build quality, which was finally fixed with the Nexus 4.

The Nexus 4 is around $199, Contract Free Unlocked for the 8GB Version and $249.99 for the 16gb Unlocked version. This phone has a 4.7Screen and a similar build quality of the iPhone 4S.

I have one, its an amazing phone. The only thing lacking is a good sound card for 3.5mm output. Bluetooth, however is superb.

I disagree. Hardware comes from the same manufacturers (Sony, Samsung etc). Its the software what makes a difference. Its why the original iPhone, 5 years ago, is more fluid that the Galaxy series.

Early release date!

Okay so if these are real, and I think it's highly likely they are, does that mean Apple will release these earlier than expected?

The media event is still over a week away and if they are already showing boxed, ready to go devices like this they may even be available the very next day, let's hope that's the same for the 5S.

iPhone releases happen on Fridays. Let's hope it's that Friday of that week and not the next.

I don't doubt it's a good phone. It's just not very popular. Everyone I see with a higher end smartphone seems to either have an iPhone or Galaxy. The lower price would seem to reflect its sales numbers, rather than its capability.

Is it just me, or do these look pink?

Hello Kitty version.

That's what I'm guessing the "C" in "5C" stands for. These really don't seem like what I would expect from Apple at all, but I know Chinese culture is very different right now.
