So the ipad mini ports in black and white.... does this mean we are going to see black and white ipad mini(s)?

Update: MacRumors has received more info from iResQ about the new dock connector port. The site tells us that "there is just one set of eight contacts inside of the port" with "none on the top side".

Of course. The cable contact itself is double-sided. They don't both need to be.

Obviously, these components are for both the current sized iPad and the new iPad Mini. Why would Apple introduce this new connector standard and not implement it, at the same time, on the existing model?

I'm just wondering how it's gonna be called, just iPad mini, or something like iPad "8 (maybe if the New iPad is getting a minor upgrade (IGZO, 9-pin dock connector) they're going to call it iPad "10) or no specific name (just iPad)?

i think i am going to need 3 new cables once this connector is introduced...such a waste of money...but...we have to move on.

I wonder if it'll be called an iPad Mini or a new name.

I think it will also be called iPad. Just like iMac and MacBook Air. Looks to me like Apple is pushing for Post-PC era. It will not be like the iPod series where we have, shuffle, nano, etc. iPad XXinch and iPad YYinch.

I am getting soooo bored with these pictures of every little wire in the new iPhone... Take a picture of a working one, in all it's glory... And I am interested.
9 pin... 8 pin... 64 pin... I do not care!

I'd say why would anybody who already own an iPad would like to get a smaller version, but then again we were proved wrong or should I say, iPod then came iPod mini, then iPod nano.
In this particular case not because Steve said it, but because I can't see any particular feature that I want in a smaller version of an iPad, plus is hard for me already to navigate with a full experience in the actual iPad screen size.

Am I the only one who is sick of seeing this small parts of various devices... JESUS! Whether it has 1 or 10 pins, I don't give a **** unless I am the engineer who has to interface these components into the product I will actually use.

:mad::mad::mad:

Ahhhh... much better now. :)

Lol... Me too. Seems every article here now is crap about parts that may be for a rumoured iPad or iPhone or iPod or ate or god knows what els. Why can't we just anticipate and stop putting up articles about proprietary property.

Yes... Much better now. Deleting macrumors bookmark. Too silly and boring

now THIS is interesting! (irony)

Hehe... No it's not.

Gruber had an article about the estimated weight based on size, and some engineer responded using a volumetric measure, that worked pretty close for the current model. Both of them were under 300g, but the size and lightness made Gruber suggest: iPad Air :)

Lol... Are you kidding me? Don't these people have jobs? Or a life?

What happened to the days of grainy photo's? Why do these all look like professional quality exhibit type photo's? I mean it used to be a photo that someone had to sneak away and grab a shot quickly and then return the item to where they took it from. Now it seems like all of these things are just freely floating around and they have the opportunity to set up professional lighting and focus to get a perfect picture. I hate to keep denying that it's real, because damn, that's a lot of leaked parts, but this just seems way too forced and easy to come across.

I will say I am changing my stance on the iPad mini however. I am welcoming it and would definitely go for one if it came out. The iPhone is just a bit too small to browse while laying in bed. I would still love a full size one with the retina display, but I'd be happy with a mini that I could easily tote around to class.

So, are they going to be able to assemble this thing before release day?.. Only a few more parts and you got a complete phone.
