Well. Someone, somewhere mentioned "innovate my ass" by introducing totally unexpected and inovative Mac Pro.
There was absolutely nothing to indicate that this particular design was coming. Actually, there was nothing at all - rumor wise.
For that very reason I believe that in September we will see iPhone 6th gen with bigger screen, iPad with quad CPU and 2GB ram and of course plastic fantastic iPhone 5c.

Please make it lighter and COOLER. My iPad 3 feels like a big heavy hot plate...

Interesting you should use Bose as an example, a range of products that I gather real audiophiles (I'm not one) generally consider to be nothing more special than the overpriced result of successful marketing and a stronger than justified public reputation... or was that what you meant

Lol, Bose products are junk. As for the ip5 i was hoping the bezel would be thinner, oh well. Without any real innovations to the OS i don't see much need for the hardware.

So why do you visit macrumors?

Just stick to mainstream media and Apple's own news section & homepage, and you can be just as surprised as ever (and disappointed regarding some missing features)

Well, my intention was not to criticize Macrumors. :) I like MacRumors and enjoy their reporting.

I'm just hoping that Apple would take more action to control these leaks. It's not far fetched to say that most of us Apple fans like the secretive and mysterious Apple, not the open and transparent Apple.

Recent rate of leaks just takes some of that feeling away we used to have.

Why a quad CPU?

Won't it be harder to hold?

Won't the thinner bezel on the sides make this harder to hold? Am I the only one that holds it with one hand by using my thumb on the side bezel and my fingers behind? How am I going to have my thumb in that position without touching part of the screen now? The narrow bezel might be okay for the "mini", since you can span the entire thing with one hand, but I don't see how this is going to work for the larger size of the iPad.

These leaks spoil all the fun and excitement that used to be big part of new Apple products.

For that reason alone Apple should get this thing under control. Tight secrecy can also be very rewarding for the customers and thus very good marketing.

.. and if and when they rarely have a leak, those leaks have more excitement value. Macrumors would be better with few, but juicy, leaks per year; eagerly anticipated and enjoyed.. with lot of buzz.

Now all rumor sites feel more like blogs showcasing electronic components for unfinished products.

I guess I just miss the good old times.. *sigh*

I dont understand people like this , if you want to be surprise dont come to MACRUMORS stick to Facebook or twitter

Cause nobody cares about computer parts but the 6 of u on here lol

exactly. I did forget about that image of the new iMac's internals and the 13" retina, but it's more profitable for a website to leak images of iPhones/iPads and maybe even iPods than Macs.

----------

What Cook must have meant when he said Apple would double-down on leaks is that there'd be twice as many of them.

there's been leaks ever since the first iPhone came on... it will never cease.

whether Steve is in charge or Tim. I don't know what Tim meant when he said he's "doubling down", but I'm sure there's not much he can really do.

Too small of a bezel?

Does anyone else wonder if having a bezel this small on an iPad will make it a little more difficult to hold?

I have an iPad 2 and the bezel on it now seems perfect for you to hold without touching the screen.

I do regarding holding the ipad and not obscuring part of the screen.

And, I can only hope they've worked out how to ignore edge touches when other fingers are around. Which isn't the case on iPad 1 & 3, when you reposition your grip while trying to answer the phone, to walk to another room, etc.

Anyone think there will be a price reduction? All these other tablets are getting ridiculously cheap...

I work in advertising/graphic design. I had someone come in to interview for a position I had open who had his portfolio on a cheap Android tablet. The viewing angle was so poor on the device's screen that only one of us could look at an item in the portfolio at a time. The screen resolution was so low that you could visibly see the LCD grid. And there was terrible lag when swiping to see the next photo in his book. And while the cheap tablet was not the reason why he didn't get the position, it didn't help the interview experience.

Not much that you can make out in that picture except that he appears to of Asian decent. Good, we've narrowed down the perpetrator to 3.5 billion people.

I'm sure there are only a limited number of asians on the planet who have that level of access to those parts, unless you're suggesting that Apple employs every single asian on the planet to bring you your iProducts. And just because they all look the same to you, doesn't mean that they all look the same to his boss who interacts with him.

I think we just might.
Apple still has the premium user experience but the numbers seem to be showing that people are caring less and less.
Without shiny new Apple hardware to tempt them, people are buying from the competiton in ever-increasing numbers.

Am I the only person here who likes the big bezel?

I mean, when I'm lounging on my couch browsing the web in landscape orientation, my clothing covers part of the screen often enough to be annoying as it is.

When BMW or Audi are made in China like all other cars, you can start with car anologies.

Apple is closer to Bose , with people like Beats trying to rip them off

Don't you feel dumb.

The worldwide network of Audi sites comprises the two German plants in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, as well as six production facilities in Hungary, China, Belgium, India, Slovakia and Spain. The same motto applies for all of them: “one name, one standard, everywhere”

My analogy is spot on. Your knowledge is not.

Go play with the mini...you'll see it doesn't matter.

They are cheap for a reason.

You don't see Audi or BMW dropping their prices because other cheap cars come out do you?

They drive and get you from place to place just like Audis and BMW's do. But we all know there is something called the driving experience and the design/make/materials/look of the car.

Now apply that here to tablets.

Ah, but the iPad materials (unlike an Audi or BMW) are not superior. The tear-down of these devices shows their materials cost somewhat less than half the devices retail price.

To use your metaphor, you don't get sports tyres, or built-in hand-free bluetooth, or electric leather seats in a basic Nissan model, so you can see where the cost difference with a BMW came from.

With an iPad or iPhone there is no extra functionality or higher quality components. The fruit on the back and a closed eco system is all.

It's a matter of choice, however nobody enjoys being gouged. The iPad and iPhone ranges could do with being a degree cheaper, since they've failed to innovate for some time now. The price difference between an iPhone 16GB and 64GB is especially absurd, considering the the only difference is a low-cost memory chip.

Unless Apple chose to innovate, rather than just keep pace with their competitors, then share-price drops are just the beginning. The reason I have an iPhone and not an Samsung Sx is because I don't want a glass-fronted house-brick in my pocket, so the last thing I want to see at each new release is an iPhone with a bigger screen.

If the iPhone 5C is a reality and is cheaper, then I may well purchase one, but I'm through paying twice the odds for a smart-phone for "more of the same". iOS7 is due soon, but it's more a fresh coat of paint than any kind of real change.

As for the iPad, you need firmware versions to see which one it is you're holding. Is this the "new ipad" or the "New New iPad" or "The other new old new iPad"?

Who gives a chit? So it’s a millimeter wider... bezel is .25 thinner.... does it really matter?

Love seeing pics of stuff coming out... but not of subtle nuances like the iPad 4 to the 5.

Show me an iPhone 6 or the next iMac... now we're talking...
