It looks the $%@!(# same!
The iPad 5 will have all the bells and whistles compared to the Mini..
A7X w/ 64 Bit
2GB Ram (Possibly)
Touch ID
I doubt the Mini will get those features, I for one... Will be getting the iPad 5.
And thats like nothing? Color me surprised and impressed with the A7 technology. I mean we probably could have guessed that as well, since the A5 in the iPhone 4S was also ~2x faster than the A4 chip before. But even knowing this in advance does not take away the extraordinary leap in mobile computing performance. You could no longer surprise me with an A7 in the next iPad mini, but I would be impressed none the less. This really is the post-pc era.Pretty much the only thing we didn't know about the iPhone 5s was the fact that the CPU was 64-bit and was ~2x as fast as the A6.
I hope so.Hmm. Thinking about it, I think the transition to 64-bit will be a lot like the transition to the lightning adapter, i.e. across the board, because they want all devices on common footing with one another.
The X stands for quad-core graphics and the A7 already has quad-core graphics in it. Thats why I predict no more X chips from now on. But it is not the power-hungry processor, its the light behind the display that is draining the battery life of retina displays. It needs to be brighter to push through smaller pixels. A pixel doubling in the iPad mini would create very small pixels. Thats the challenge to overcome. The better the light source, the smaller and lighter the battery and the whole device. They had a year to solve this problem. I'm confident they did it.I'm gonna go ahead and throw in a prediction that the new iPads and iPod Touches will all have 64-bit A7s. They may not put a retina display in the iPad Mini, though, eliminating the need for a more power-hungry A7X processor, saving lots of battery life. That remains to be seen, though. But for now: 64-bit A7s across the board.
No flash for the camera??
Also, they better make the iPad mini Retina.
buy it anyway and like it....
Me too. The iPhone event was anticlimactic. We all expected iPhones and that's all we got. Can't fault Apple because that's what they had to announce. At least they kept it short.
This one promises all kinds of things from new form factor iPads to multiple updates to Macs. I sure hope Apple live streams this one.
It's not what they did that's insufficient, it's the fact that we knew pretty much everything about it before any official announcement. Pretty much the only thing we didn't know about the iPhone 5s was the fact that the CPU was 64-bit and was ~2x as fast as the A6. Everthing else we knew. (Touch-ID, slo-mo camera, gold color, etc..)
But those kinds of leaks are, unfortunately, pretty much unavoidable, since Apple starts production before the announcement, whereas with the Mac Pro they announced before starting production, hence taking everyone by surprise. But it does make Tim Cook's statement that they're doubling down on security look a bit ridiculous.
Holy Smokes! Sometimes I'm jealous of the people who get to experience an incredible performance/feature increase of multi-generation upgrades vs. us goofballs who upgrade constantly.
Going from a 1st gen to a 5th gen should be ... *magical*![]()
So ready to replace my iPad 2 with a 64GB Space Grey Wifi iPad 5.
why can't apple do a pro model?? something more like a tough screen osx device with all the bells and whistles. you can go up to 512GB of storage on the surface pro 2. there is a market out there for this for people who don't wanna spend $2700 for wacom's new companion.
This will be my first ever iPad.![]()
So... people go to a site whose name suggests, and whose content delivers, advance information about Apple's products, then complain because they already know by the time the official announcement comes out?
I'm missing something here.
He's looking for iPad HOLOGRAM, and SO AM I!!
As for the Samsung watch to which you refer, Apple is making the same thing, but it'll be a couple years til we see it. Fool....
