she... ...said to wait, most likely snow leopard.so who knows, maybe we will get lucky.

Yes, because Snow Leopard will come out nine months early. Stop listening to Best Buy drones.

The only time I ever pay attention to them is to correct them while they're in the middle of convincing someone of something impossible. Like the ability to put a GX280 in an iMac.

The guy left and I convinced the couple to get the iMac anyway, because it was what they needed.

It reminds me of two of the new nanos.

Very two-tone.

I was thinking this as well.

Wasn't my store. We have an Apple rep 3 days a week. Most of my customers know Apple's have *rap video cards anyway that can't be upgraded. :D I still manage to sell loads of them, though. :D

Just something to think about.... If someone wants to make a real convincing fake, and invest all this time and technique into making this. Don't you think he/she would have made a fake that is closer in design to the MBA and thus easier to believe?

That black lid is so unexpected and out of the blue that it might just be true...

I for one just hope that it isn't the same material as the iphone, because I'm on my second iPhone and again it's cracking....

In addition I quote someone from the engadget comments who makes sense to me (his last sentence is stupid though ):

Are any of you who are posting comments actually photoshop users? You sound like fools when you talk about photoshop artifacts, or your ability to detect a fake logo. Those are compression artifacts from a JPEG image. Any experienced photoshop user could create a fake image that is entirely undetectable. I am confident that this, in fact, is a real photo and is the exact model that will be released in two weeks. Who has the time to fake images? You all were convinced that the new iPod nano was fake too! You sound like a bunch of amateurs who are overly critical of a set of skills you know nothing about. And you'll feel silly when this model hits stores in a few days and you realize that these photos were a nice tip, and not some cheap ruse. Get a clue and stop complaining about the work of professional industrial designers. Apple leads the entire world in design innovation. And I'm not some fat geek sitting at my desk all day complaining; I teach a product design class and constantly refer to Apple as a model of successful design.

Looks like the bottom half of that mockup looks like the glossy metallic back of an iPod. Haha imagine what a huge scuff nightmare that would be.

It depends on the week. Last week we heard curved design and a few hours later a (bad) fake came out with air-inspired design. This week we here it will retain the boxiness of the current model and guess what? This comes out.

The Engadget poster is somewhat right. Lots of people sound like they invented photoshop when they can barely use gimp, but there are problems with these pictures.

What are those three ports on the side? They are two big to be USB/Firewire and even MagSafe (imo) and too small to be express card slots (not to mention three seems a little overkill to me). Where is the black keyboard on the picture on the open MBP screen? There were also those shots from production months ago. Of course those shots could have been of the MB or a prototype or just another fake, but they are worth mentioning.

A lot of people in this world have too much time on their hands.

That said, if you look at the ad mockup, looking at the side ports, it's inconsistent between the two computers. The one in the back has the sound input/output jacks, the one in the front has an ExpressCard slot, but neither has both.

In the original article it says that the guy who submitted the pictures mentioned that he made the mockup himself. So it's not an official apple website picture. It could just be a marketing proof of concept, and shouldn;t have to be accurate.

I'm just saying that we tend to be dismissive maybe a bit too fast... The photo with the two laptops looks to me to be too real to be a mockup or fake. You need some serious photoshop skills to do that.

Definitely a Photochop. Still exciting because if history is any indicator the proliferation of fakes usually indicates the release is imminent.

wow i can't wait to get my hands on that MBP DEFINITELY REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT!

Tallest Skil, what do you think the next MacBook Pros will look like?

Hmm... IF there IS a redesign, they'll look similar to how they do now.

I believe they'll get rid of the plastic rim around both the case and screen; if they can do it with the Air, they can do it with the Pro. Though this might be wishful thinking on my part.

Magnetic latch, perhaps? It would be nice.

Since the general move is toward the chicklet keyboard, I wouldn't be surprised to see it, but I might be a little sad. I like the current one slightly better.

Just BARELY thinner, IF at all.

DVI changed to DisplayPort if it's changed. It won't be HDMI because there won't be Blu-ray. Doesn't DisplayPort handle HDCP, though, anyway? If it does, there's no reason for complaints.

The only thing that I would like to see on a personal level is the addition of a USB port on each model (15.4" gets three, 17" gets four) and perhaps FireWire 3200, since it's been ratified. :D

Hardware wise I see...
2.4, 2.53, 2.8 GHz, maybe 3.06 BTO on the 17"
2GB RAM standard on both 15" models and maybe 4GB standard on the 17", upgradable to 8GB on both.
250GB HDD standard with 320 and 500 as BTO. Maybe a 128GB SSD BTO, but stupidly expensive, of course.
GPU? Well... from nVidia, no better than the 9650M GT. If Apple struck a deal with ATI, then something from the 46xxM series.
SuperDrive. Unless Apple has found a way to get 3.5 or more hours out of a laptop with Blu-ray.
16:10 screens. If there's no Blu-ray, there's no need to cater to movie watchers and their obsession with black bars. And at any rate, who wants to watch HD video on a small screen?

That reminds me... it would be nice to see 1680x1050 on the 15" in addition to the 17".

Everything sounds realistic and it's the same things I'm expecting, more or less.

Remove the plastic rims.
Add the awesome chiclet keyboard.
Switch to a new non-defective GPU.
Add support for 8GB of memory.
BTO 1680x1050 for the 15.4 inch - 1440x900 is just sad on a "Pro" laptop. My sisters 5 years+ old Acer (ACER!) laptop has 1440x900. =)

That would've been really sweet. :D
