My pBook 15 is also one of the 14 in that shipment that arrived in illinois yesterday. And so it cleared customs and Apple distr.had it last night at 5:15 pm so I thought I would see it today, but to no avail. So I called airborne and gave my tracking # not the waybill and the lady said that airborne didn't have it yet to ship and to call back in 2-3 days (was she joking?), BUT entering the tracking # in myself I was able to see that they did have it and that it was in transit so when I called her on the matter, she paused and said that it had not yet arrived in Utah and that it should arrive here tomorrow (thurs) and be delivered. --So, it appears that the AIRBORNE customer service personel do not know how to read their screens and are probabaly, at the same time, tired of all the calls from apple purchasers. So here's to tomorrow morning and lets hope it's a good one...morning that is cause I sure can't get anything productive done knowing that it's so close yet too far away.

powerbook shipping?

I order my 15" on Thursday the 19th and on the apple order status page it says it will be shipped today but I have not go any email from apple stating it was delayed. As you can see I am just a little impatient. Did anyone get the email without the status page changing? I check it every 5 minutes or so.
Please ease my worried mind.

Still says on or before 9/25

Still waiting :(

Sure hope this thing ships on time. The weekend is fast approaching. With my luck, I'll have to wait until Monday

I ordered mine at Apple online store about noon Pacific Time on day of release. I ordered 1.25 15" with single 512 memory and 5400rpm drive. Shipping was quoted 3-5 business days. I paid for 2 day shipping.

Sunday night I received shipping confirmation email with "The following products shipped on 09/22/2003". Today is the 24th and still no Powerbook. So checking the tracking site (like others say, tracking function has NOT been working but I finally got this result today)

Shipment History:
DATE TIME ACTIVITY AND COMMENTS LOCATION
9/22/03 9 : 49 am In Transit.ÊÊ Taipei,ÊTaiwan
9/23/03 5 : 12 pm Picked Up by Airborne. Shipper's Door

So even though Apple's email said it shipped on the 22, it really didn't ship until the 23rd. I hope it arrives tomorrow (25th).

I ordered my 15" with 2x 512mb ram and the 5400hd upgrade on the 17th. It said the day after that it would ship on the 24th (today) and i get home to find that it was pushed back to 10/1 which is very crappy... Nothing i can do about it though :( I called the hotline and the lady said that if i were to change my order to the stock configuration it would take the same amount of time. So i sit here to wait...

That get's me worried... Mine is a 17" with 1 1GB stick and 1 512MB stick, with 5400rpm HD upgrade. Site said 5-7 business days and gave a 9/25 ship by date. It hasn't changed yet, but as we all have seen, it can right on that date

Please let it ship on time!

BTW, it looks like they are pushing back a week when they have to. At least it's not like the Dual 2.0 G5's!!!!!

(I HOPE!)

Getting inpatient

Yeah I feel everyones pain that has ordered a powerbook. I ordered mine last Thursday (Sept. 18) with 2 day shipping. 15" 1.25Ghz 1x512mb 5400rpm HD. On monday I got an email saying that it had shipped so my hopes went sky high, expecting to see it today wednesday. Well wednesday has come and gone and still no sign of it. Called Airborne and they told me that it hadnt come into the city yet and that I should either expect it thursday or friday. I just dont like the feeling knowing that my 'book is out there on its own... i want it now. Or at least before the weekend.

I'm still waiting for my 15" to arrive. I had a quick question though for anyone who might know....

Should I expect that my 1.25 15" will be faster than my G4 933 desktop? I've tried to find some PB benchmarks that compare to older desktops, but I haven't had much luck. I realize the PB has a faster processor, but the 933 has a faster hard drive and 2 M of L3 cache.

Thanks in advance.

I just understand !!!!

"same day shipping" it's just small error. You should have seen "same year shipping".

So does anyone have any idea (or like, concrete evidence) of how long it takes for a powerbook to travel from the place in chicago where it clears customs to our actual homes?

Mine says it cleared customs in chicago today (24th) and that it's now "in transit", and im just wondering how many days it will take to get from chicago to my house (in virginia).

has anyone had one arrive from chicago in one day? two days?

It should be one day. Mine shipped from Chicago and tomorrow is estimated delivery time, so one day. (I'm in the Spokane area.)

YMMV.

I'd like to feel sorry for you folks, but just can't seem to as I'm typing my post on my new 15" 1.25ghz that I got a week ago. :)

God bless the local Apple store. Sure you pay straight list, but at least I HAVE mine.

(ducking)

Yeah Madman some people dont live close to an apple store (unfortunately). The closest one to me is in Houston which is 3 hours away or the corner of a compusa. Besides I wanted to get all my ram on one stick so i didnt have to get rid of one when I buy that 1GB stick. Hows the heat on the 1.25 anyone know? Battery time would be nice too.

Has anyone received a Powerbook with a 5400rpm drive yet? I would like to see some benchmarks before I place an order. Im interested in battery drain and just how much faster that drive works in the 15 inch

12" Powerbook

Ok, has anyone ordered the new 12" powerbook? it seems everyone and their mother has ordered the 15" and the 17" in this thread. Am i the only one who ordered it! LOL.. that means i will get it quicker then... lol....seriously though, not much talk from people that have ordered the 12" incher... i thought it was apples #1 seller between the Powerbooks.

Then again the 12" incher didnt change that much so im guessing current 12" owners just stuck with the old version.... baahh i couldnt afford the 15" so i went for the 12" and i like the small size of it... OH by the way this is my first Mac, although i will still have a pc as my main desktop computer, i think this is gonna be great new experience... gotta get the hang of the new stuff...

Anyways... i ordered mines on 9/23/03 and it says that its gonna ship on 10/02/03(OPEN).. i ordered the bundle too, printer and 10g ipod....

ONE LAST QUESTION
For the people that are getting the rebate, is the email(receipt) that apple sent us the proof of purchase? if so they individually sent me emails for the ipod and printer, and im assuming the powerbook is gonna be the same.. and the date of the emails(receipts) are when they were shipped, is this gonna affect the rebate since im probably going to get the PB after 9/27/03. I know i read in the boards that apple is going to honor it.. but i just cant trust that because usually when rebates like this happens a company hires an outside company to handle the rebates, and if the stuff you send in is not correct they will not give the refund... this happened to me before and thats why im just a little worried about it...

ok i will stop writing now.. lol... excited

--------------------------------------------------------
12.1" 1GHz PowerBook G4
256MB DDR266 SDRAM
60GB Ultra ATA Drive
Combo Drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)
Hopefully will arrive first week of October

My sweet 1st apple computer has just start his long road to home. WOOHOO. My salvation come by Fedex!!!

Apple says my 17 CTO has shipped!!!!!

:D

Apple says my 17" CTO has SHIPPED!

Airborne, of course is messed up. I put in the tracking number and this message comes up:

Unable to connect to DHL Tracking API, invalid URL or network error.

Also, I have yet to receive my email invoice or shipping notice from Apple, but their system is notoriously slow to send these out.

So it'll be here tomorrow and then I can PLAY :D

(As you can see, I'm not letting cold, hard reality stand in the way of my delusional euphoria. I've turned on my own RDF and it's even more powerful than SJ's!) ;)

Did you use Safari? I had that message when I tried to cut and paste the tracking number on Airborne's website. I tried physically typing it in and it worked.

This is my first time buying a system directly from Apple and was wondering if the shipping from Taiwan is normal or is this only because the Powerbooks have just been released?

Thanks.

I'm full of joy. My PB arrived at BWI airport at 6:45am today and I live about 10 minutes away. So I'm not sure if I'll have a morning or afternoon delivery (sounds like I'm giving birth). I have to leave at 11:45am for class. That's the last thing that I want is for it to be left on my doorstep while I'm gone.

Oh, it's a 5400 drive too.
