Did you use Safari? I had that message when I tried to cut and paste the tracking number on Airborne's website. I tried physically typing it in and it worked. [/B]

Yea, I used Safari and I've seen what you describe. I also use the same work around as you.

I think Airborne's connection to DHL is a bit flaky this morning.

BTW, I DID just now get my shipping e-mail from Apple, so it's really happened!!!

Thanks.

IIRC, all PowerBooks are made in Taiwan. Because they've just been released, Apple is air freighting them to get them to customers ASAP. Once they've caught up, then they'll build some stock and then it will ship from the US (If you are in the US).

I have to leave at 11:45am for class. That's the last thing that I want is for it to be left on my doorstep while I'm gone.

Oh, it's a 5400 drive too.

I know how you feel :D

I've owned 50+ Macs since 1984 (I have about 20 in my collection) and to this day, everytime I get a new one, it still makes me feel... well... happy, excited or as you said "giddy" :D

So, my best to you and your "newborn" :)

BTW, mine is also a 5400

That is what I thought, but wanted to make sure.

Ok, has anyone ordered the new 12" powerbook? it seems everyone and their mother has ordered the 15" and the 17" in this thread. Am i the only one who ordered it! LOL.. that means i will get it quicker then... lol....seriously though, not much talk from people that have ordered the 12" incher... i thought it was apples #1 seller between the Powerbooks.

Then again the 12" incher didnt change that much so im guessing current 12" owners just stuck with the old version.... baahh i couldnt afford the 15" so i went for the 12" and i like the small size of it... OH by the way this is my first Mac, although i will still have a pc as my main desktop computer, i think this is gonna be great new experience... gotta get the hang of the new stuff...

Anyways... i ordered mines on 9/23/03 and it says that its gonna ship on 10/02/03(OPEN).. i ordered the bundle too, printer and 10g ipod....

I ordered my 12" Before the updates and they automatically upgraded me and it's supposed to ship today! (09/25/2003 and it says Open still :() On this very day... I hope I get it soon, I'm so excited I can't even sleep (I've been up since 3AM!)!

Waiting Patiently (as patient as impatient gets! :D)

ONE LAST QUESTION
For the people that are getting the rebate, is the email(receipt) that apple sent us the proof of purchase? if so they individually sent me emails for the ipod and printer, and im assuming the powerbook is gonna be the same.. and the date of the emails(receipts) are when they were shipped, is this gonna affect the rebate since im probably going to get the PB after 9/27/03. I know i read in the boards that apple is going to honor it.. but i just cant trust that because usually when rebates like this happens a company hires an outside company to handle the rebates, and if the stuff you send in is not correct they will not give the refund... this happened to me before and thats why im just a little worried about it...

From: apple Promotions <applepromos@nch.wattsgroup.com

Thank you for your inquiry, in terms of the "must order and take possession
of qualifying products from may 30, 2003 through
September 27, 2003." Please be advised that Apple does make a provision for
products on back order. As long as you can provide documentation that these
items were ordered during the promotion dates, Apple will honour your
rebate.

Sincerely,

Kathy

Do you receive an email once the Powerbook has gone through customs and is at the IL Distribution Center? If not, then how do you know when the Dist. Center actually has shipped it to your house? Obviously calling Airborne does no good since you get a different answer every time you call. Early this morning I called Airborne and was told it had cleared customs and to call back at 8:30 Central and I should be able to get a more up to date status. I just called, as instructed, and this rep told me that it had not cleared customs yet. I am so frustrated. I am trying to figure out when I need to have someone at my house to sign for the damn thing. Is everyone having this many problems?

The short answer is no. Apple shipped it and now it's "in-transit", even if it's stuck in Customs.

You just have to keep checking with Airborne to see where it is. If you've received the invoice email from Apple, look for the waybill number on it and put that into Airborne's tracking system. It's much more detailed than the shipping number you got from Apple.

Just called up DHL (Airborne) and talked to them about my 15" PB. It is now on its way and should be here tomorrow by 5:00!!!!!!

I'm soooooo excited! This will be my first mac!!!! I'm really pumped about this. Just wish my iPod would get here soon. It's coming from China and is either in customs or in between the US and China. I'm sure it's in customs. Some customs official fondling my iPod. Jerk!!!

Any suggestions on care and/or info on shortcuts and stuff? This is my first experience w/ a mac.

You mean you actually got information from them?? I get a different answer everytime I call them.

1. The waybill number tracks the shipment Apple gets from their manufacturer. The tracking number you get at the Apple Store tracks your individual product.
2. The tracking numbers are too long to fit into the box they provide, and it splits into two. When you get that error message, another page will come up where you can enter the tracking number again. Do that.
3. My PowerBook is out for delivery today!

Excellent and congrats! :)

I just got the e-mail invoice, so it seems mine has truly shipped.

But to where? Hopefully, to me and not just from Taiwan to the Dist center in IL :)

The tracking doesn;t necessarily show things in order.

Mt. Vernon is only 30 minutes form here so I know it is in my area. Out for Delivery. It should arrive today. I sure hope that truck doesn't have an accident or something.

Keep the Faith...my 17" BTO (5400) is out for delivery today!

Ordered: Sep 17
Shipped: Sep 22

Ground shipping; apparently it flew into LA from Taiwan and I'm in N Cal so it should have been delivered yesterday but Airborne fumbled the ball.

Apple better be getting a real sweet deal with Airborne, because they plain suck. AT my business we ship about 200 overnight packages a week, mainly with FedEx, some UPS. We dumped Airborne years ago because they were so bad.

PowerBook 12.1" from MacMall

Just got off the phone with MacMall. The rep told me that they were expecting 500 12.1" PowerBook on Friday the 26th, but only 50 is actually expected to come in. I really wish Apple would get there $#^% together and get me my freeking PowerBook.

WOOOO HOOO!!!!!!

Not one to brag or anything, but I GOT MY POWERBOOK!!!! WOOOOT!! man this thing is sweet, yall were right, the anger and frustration evaporates once you open that box and there is the 'book in all its glory. One minor problem, the display latch unlocks itself sometime if the display is budged a bit... but who cares I LOVE THIS COMPUTER!!

Ditto on the Woohoo!

My PB was delivered today and this puppy is beautiful!

Questions anyone? Actually I'll probably have questions for you all sooner or later :D
