Just got a notification for this:
I’m not into digital time but read the description, sounds interesting
3C892AD0-26B4-4E9E-AE2E-F5A3A05C1F17.jpeg

I'm using it right now and it's actually not that bad. It's easier to read the time with the background turned off though.
I tried it, too, and I think it is even worse in person than in the pictures. The animations make it even less readable for me. But maybe it's just me. Enough other Watch Faces that I can use :D

very striking but seems kind of hard to read? would have been cool to add customization to color each "thread" or at least a few other preset combinations (black/white, 2-tone)

tried it... not my cup of tea. its an interesting effect but unusable.

The off version of this watch face is cool looking, I’ll be using it for awhile. It would be cool if they made better watch faces like this just not tied to pride. Apple has shown they can get creative with watch faces, why hold out?

How do you enable / choose “off version”? Does this mean it stays dark? i don’t care for the white background at all.

Edit: got it sorted out. Simple edit did the trick.

There are now 8 Pride faces.

If only Apple put this much effort into creating more useful and configurable watch faces in between the yearly WatchOS releases, that would be great.
I think several of the Pride faces are great, but I agree. We have a huge need for additional watch faces that are not oriented toward particular causes (however worthy those causes are). In particular, we need more watch faces with elegant clock faces but also room for multiple complications. Apple needs to either get busy on this or figure out how to open up the watch face development process to others.

Do not underestimate Apple regarding the watchfaces. The watch looks like an Apple watch. Just like a Rolex looks like a Rolex. Both are immediatlely recognizable by shape and face. Me too, I would love to play with watchfaces of my own. But from what I see at other brands and homebrew-watchfaces, I am not really thrilled.
I assume, the ApOlex would appear instantly...

I like it it's a good addition I think it's cool when apple does some designs that isn't necessary functional the art aspect is cool. i would like to see more simple faces with some compilations in the future.

I agree, It is easier to read with the background turned off. I think it was designed to read at an angle, and not straight on.

Agree. I have no problem with all those Pride watch faces, but give me more classics please! And while I’m asking: could I have a world time complication that doesn’t flip to edit mode the moment I accidentally touch the screen? Thanks?

I really don't understand why they haven't done a Watch Face Store yet. It would be a huge win, they can have an approval process like for apps so there isn't blatant copyright issues with people imitating Rolex or other brands designs.

While everyone would like to have this as I‘m sure some really cool Watch faces would be the result, I see two reasons this won‘t happen. The Watch is, computationally speaking, the weakest/slowest device Apple sells and badly done 3rd party faces may drain the battery and/or cause systemic trouble. The even stronger point (I believe) is that the Watch, as a wearable, is the most visible device Apple sells and they (rightly) fear that a lot of them would suddenly look like **** if users would be allowed to leave behind the quite diverse, yet still (visually) coherent watch face options we now have, which may deter potential new customers, seeing those “ugly Watches“ in the wild, from buying a Watch themselves.

Wow, the pride face and bands were amazing last year. First time I've ever bought pride anything. This is really a complete miss and it's a shame because I was looking forward to rocking a new face/band combo this year.

You know how you squint your eyes to make the lights on a Christmas tree stand out more? I can see the time easier when I do that here. Now I'll be looking at my watch like an old man. ?

Lmao likewise, I like the design but finding it pretty hard to actually see the time (even with the dark background/background off). Squinting and/or changing the angle of my wrist is the only way lol.

Who owns the watch? Us or Apple? reasoning like that is just absurd.

The brands are well established. There's no need for this sort of control.

HiVolt, yes, exactly. And to axantas' point, Apple doesn't need to allow everything to allow something. It could even create a design competition, the winners of which get to list their watch faces. And as it has done for other such ventures, it can create strict design and interface standards for submitted watch faces.

If, on the other hand, Apple chooses to do none of this, it should offer many more Apple-made watch faces as options.
