Early this morning, Apple unveiled new Special Edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models, which feature a vibrant red aluminum finish paired with a silver Apple logo and white front bezels.

While the new red iPhone models won't be available for purchase until Friday, March 24, tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee got his hands on one of the new devices early, and has shown it off in the first (PRODUCT)RED iPhone unboxing video.

The (PRODUCT)RED iPhone ships in a box decorated with red text and a red iPhone, and inside, there's a (PRODUCT)RED insert alongside the regular manuals. Aside from that, the packaging is the same as other iPhone models with a charging cable and Lightning EarPods.

Brownlee's first reaction to the (PRODUCT)RED iPhone was "Wow, this thing is really red and really good looking." He goes on to say that it's as "ridiculously good as you think," and calls it the most photogenic iPhone he's seen in a long time.

According to Brownlee, in person, the device has an almost satin finish that is super saturated, and because it's not as dark as the Matte and Jet Black iPhones, it isn't as prone to showing fingerprints. Brownlee is not a fan of the white front of the device (he calls it "goofy") and says he'd prefer it with a black front.

Apple release the Special Edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to celebrate more than 10 years of partnership with the (RED) charity. All (PRODUCT)RED purchases let customers contribute to the Global Fund to join the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Over the course of its 10 year partnership with (RED), Apple has been responsible for donating more than $130 million and is the largest corporate donor to the Global Fund.

The new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone models are available in 128GB and 256GB storage capacities, priced at $749/$849 for the iPhone 7 and $869/$969 for the iPhone 7 Plus. As mentioned above, the new devices will go on sale on Friday in more than 40 countries around the world.

I think the red option is a great celebration of 10 years of RED and 10 years of iPhone. I thought it would be strange at first but I really like it.

The default use of the silver home button really bugs me, it's like the silver smart connector in the rose gold iPad Pro.

So... a silver Apple logo (not white as I believe MacRumors reported earlier) and a silver Touch ID ring. And that makes sense how? Should have went with a black front, black Touch ID ring, and a black Apple logo.

Don't get why everyone wants it all black. I think all white with the red looks way better. And I think the unit in this video is just an early model - Look at Apple's website. That Apple logo looks really white to me

Because, as I said, they introduced three colors on one phone that makes it look a bit cobbled together and cheap. Silver touch ID ring, Apple logo, and lightning port with white front, and red shell?

The white bezel makes way more sense than a black one, people. This is to bring attention to health, not U2 or death metal. Black and red is too dire, plus red and white are the colors which represent medical attention.

The silver Touch ID ring is absolutely lazy, however. That totally should have been a matching red.

I also prefer white front.

However preferring white or black for the front of the phone is a highly subjective opinion anyway.
[doublepost=1490142722][/doublepost]I wish this was available at launch. Would love to choose from some more colours as well as silver/gold.

So how did this guy get his hands on one? I doubt even tech reviewers were given samples to review since it's the same phone.

I'm wondering the same thing. I have a feeling they gave him one as a review.

Looks good - I seem to be in a minority preferring a white bezel with a coloured body - but the silver logo and TouchID ring seem a bit off. Would've been nice if they were colour matched too.
I prefer the white bezel too. I have the iPhone 7 Plus in matte black and I hate the front. I love the back. This is the perfect answer for me, because I hate when the back is a color and the bands are white (like the rose gold). This has the red bands to match the red color, just like the two black options for this year.

I just realized we might not be getting new Apple hardware until September... Let that sink in.
So... Usual timing. Exceptions like the watch and larger but same hardware iPad, but the usual. Not sure why you're upset...
