Wont swapping the front covers of the iphone disable the touch ID? Since the touch ID is built into the case?

Can't you just buy a black replacement screen? Doing that at a repair shop is usually like $100, but I thought you could also just buy the kit on Amazon for like $50?

I bought a screen on amazon and its hard to tell if your buying a legitimate screen and not. The one i bought felt "off" like the colors were's as crips and the screen heated up more. Its definitely not the same quality and apple, from what I know, doesn't source out their genuine replacement parts to resellers. Batteries are third parties for example or replicas with varying quality.

It's absolutely vile, such an ugly color combination. It's thrown together with little thought on it's overall design. White and Red is not a good mix. All I see is Christmas, or a child's toy.

Am surprised they've used a silver logo on the back of iPhone 7 (Product) Red as it's like this on iPod Touch:

The red looks great. I would have preferred a black front face, but whatever. If this color is available next year at the launch of the Iphone 8, I'll happily get one and support a good cause. But I'm not waiting until the phone is 6 months old to update.

Nice and shiny but white bezel? Does Apple intentionally shoot themselves in the foot every time? And I sure the color is all nice nice but given the poor prep work to the aluminum with the current matte black and gloss black models I can only imagine how long this red will last before the finish starts to go south.

$130 million over 10 years!

I'm sure it's a good cause and every bit helps but it doesn't compare to what Bill and Melinda Gates have donated over the same period.

It's really just a way to sell more iPhones mid cycle. Why did they not release this last September if they wanted to maximise the charitable take?

The white bezel makes way more sense than a black one, people. This is to bring attention to health, not U2 or death metal. Black and red is too dire, plus red and white are the colors which represent medical attention.

The silver Touch ID ring is absolutely lazy, however. That totally should have been a matching red.

What's wrong with death metal?

why not make the apple stickers that come with red instead of white... maybe all the different colors should have their phone color match the sticker...

So... a silver Apple logo (not white as I believe MacRumors reported earlier) and a silver Touch ID ring. And that makes sense how? Should have went with a black front, black Touch ID ring, and a black Apple logo.

They probably had a crap load of silver iPhone stuff left over so they used the front and apple logo off the silver model. It looks awful.

Somehow the color and the dual lens on the 7+ makes me think of a ViewMaster:

This red iPhone looks hastily put together without much thought. Hence, all the mismatches... Apple should put more thought and passion into its designs and colour coordination.

Gonna be a loooong, hot summer.....

On topic, can't argue with that $130 million for a good cause. Kudos to Apple.

If it was $130 million a year over 10 years you might have a point.
For the wealthiest company on the planet that earns more than most countries it seems incredibly weak. More like a tax dodge.

Looking ancient in comparison to the Galaxy S8.
Who is designing this BS?
According J.I.'s chronicle: the humble J.I.
Who was soo busy with J.I.'s accomplishments in the J.I. memorial that neither J.I. himself nor J.I.'s staff led by J.I. had any time left to get rid of the bezels over the last 5 years

The stickers have a very different meaning today than they used in the past. Today it expresses: I don't have to worry about money and I'll buy Apple to show off the world I don't have to. In the past: I bought the best on the market money could buy. Elegant and a premium experience.

Because, as I said, they introduced three colors on one phone that makes it look a bit cobbled together and cheap. Silver touch ID ring, Apple logo, and lightning port with white front, and red shell?
(They let the intern design it.) In all seriousness, for a company that typically fawns over and perfects all painstaking detail of a new product, I was also a little surprised by some of the choices made here as you mention. From a bean counting perspective, Apple wins by leveraging all existing components currently in the supply chain except for this new anodized red rear shell.
