New (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 Plus Shown Off in Unboxing Video

So... a silver Apple logo (not white as I believe MacRumors reported earlier) and a silver Touch ID ring. And that makes sense how? Should have went with a black front, black Touch ID ring, and a black Apple logo.
this has been my problem with the ProductRed line since the very beginning. Red + White is just... meh. Red + Black, you couldnt keep those things on the shelves.

Because, as I said, they introduced three colors on one phone that makes it look a bit cobbled together and cheap. Silver touch ID ring, Apple logo, and lightning port with white front, and red shell?

Yeah, the silver TouchID ring (and logo) feels a little "parts bin". White front, with a white logo and a +red+ TouchID ring would've been slick.

Black and red is too dire ...

My office is red, "Flaming Sword" red specifically, and black and it's not ... hmm, you know, you're right, this place is depressing.

:D

I wouldn't touch red and black with a 10-foot pole. You got to remember your opinion is not the majority's. Apple made this phone based on what color combination would sell best. I trust their data that suggests red and white is better than your opinion on a random forum site.

I wonder if it is a more gender neutral color combination that led to the decision. I'm sure some women would like a black and red phone, but something about the black and red seems to be more of a "guy" combination.

I know I'm making generalizations, but apple would be looking at general appeal as well.
[doublepost=1490143400][/doublepost]Also, I don't get the hate for the silver Touch ID and logo. It's all the same as a silver aluminum phone, just red aluminum. It doesn't seem randomly thrown together at all...

Would look cool with a red Touch ID button but silver is the best choice for the logo unless you went white... and we know people would find that appalling.

I like that color red. I would like to see the 10th anniversary edition come with a red back with black front. And to put icing on the Apple iPhone cake, I would like to see Apple offer a lighted Apple logo as shown in the following video.

26 posts in this thread, 5 for white + red, 4 for black + red. not quite the outright majority you claim.

and what is with your outright hostility? your posts are quite antagonistic.

So how did this guy get his hands on one? I doubt even tech reviewers were given samples to review since it's the same phone.

MKBHD has such a big audience on youtube that it makes sense for apple to send him a phone for promotional purposes.

I didn't mean that I wasn't in favour of more uniformity. I meant I was in favour of more white – White Apple logo, red TouchID ring, either white or red Lightning port. – On Apple's website, the Apple logo looks really quite white. I would be disappointed if I ordered it, and it turned out to be silver

Well said. It would have been nice the way you describe it for those who don't mind the white and red combo. And yes, it definitely looks white on the website.

Its a nice color, but I wouldn't want it as my every day finish. The Black is still the best, but hey, still loving my 6s Gold.

Early this morning, Apple unveiled new Special Edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models, which feature a vibrant red aluminum finish paired with a silver Apple logo and white front bezels.

While the new red iPhone models won't be available for purchase until Friday, March 24, tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee got his hands on one of the new devices early, and has shown it off in the first (PRODUCT)RED iPhone unboxing video.

The (PRODUCT)RED iPhone ships in a box decorated with red text and a red iPhone, and inside, there's a (PRODUCT)RED insert alongside the regular manuals. Aside from that, the packaging is the same as other iPhone models with a charging cable and Lightning EarPods.

Brownlee's first reaction to the (PRODUCT)RED iPhone was "Wow, this thing is really red and really good looking." He goes on to say that it's as "ridiculously good as you think," and calls it the most photogenic iPhone he's seen in a long time.

According to Brownlee, in person, the device has an almost satin finish that is super saturated, and because it's not as dark as the Matte and Jet Black iPhones, it isn't as prone to showing fingerprints. Brownlee is not a fan of the white front of the device (he calls it "goofy") and says he'd prefer it with a black front.

Apple release the Special Edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to celebrate more than 10 years of partnership with the (RED) charity. All (PRODUCT)RED purchases let customers contribute to the Global Fund to join the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Over the course of its 10 year partnership with (RED), Apple has been responsible for donating more than $130 million and is the largest corporate donor to the Global Fund.

The new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone models are available in 128GB and 256GB storage capacities, priced at $749/$849 for the iPhone 7 and $869/$969 for the iPhone 7 Plus. As mentioned above, the new devices will go on sale on Friday in more than 40 countries around the world.

damn u Apple. you should have released this back in September 2016. funny i posted on my FB page 2 years ago asking why didn't apple make a RED iphone just like the ipod...now here we are.

i really like it. grrrrr

To make it something more unique then something a case or Colorwerk can produce, how about a different opening screen or even hints of red in the OS?
And it's more expensive because of exclusivity? Somewhat defeats the purpose of the good cause they are trying to bring attention to.

It's no more expensive than any other colour, albeit it does only come in 128 or 256GB.
