New renders of the upcoming Apple Watch Pro have given us the best look yet at what's expected to become the newest high-end Apple Watch, featuring an all-new design, a larger and flat display, and a new physical button.

The new renders, created by concept designer Ian Zelbo in collaboration with Parker Ortolani, are based on CAD renders of the Apple Watch Pro shared yesterday. Until yesterday, little was known about the Apple Watch Pro's expected design other than to say it would be more rugged and durable for athletes, hikers, runners, and more.

The Apple Watch Pro will feature the first significant redesign of the Apple Watch since the Series 4, rethinking the case design to become less curved with an entirely flat display. The display on the Apple Watch Pro is expected to be considerably bigger than the Series 7 and the upcoming Series 8, thanks to the flatter top design.

Fitting with its more rugged look and feel, the Apple Watch Pro features all-new protruding housing for the Digital Crown and the Side Button. Both are housed in a mold on the right side of the watch that protrudes outwards, which could make them more easily accessible. The Digital Crown itself is also being redesigned to feature more prominent indents.

On the left side of the watch, the Apple Watch Pro is expected to feature an all-new physical button similar to the Side Button. The button is rumored to be configurable to a user's liking. It could be customized to open watchOS apps, begin specific workouts, or even quickly run shortcuts without navigating the watch itself.

With the larger display on the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple updated visual elements across watchOS to take better advantage of the added real estate. The same is expected with the Apple Watch Pro and its larger display. Compared to the Series 7's display size of 1.691-inches and 1.901-inches on the 41mm and 45mm sizes, the Apple Watch Pro screen could measure around 1.99-inches in a 49mm case.

On the Apple Watch Pro, customers can expect new watch faces that take advantage of the larger display, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Also, according to Gurman, expect Apple to release a new line of watch bands designed specifically for the Apple Watch Pro. Existing watch bands are expected to be somewhat compatible with the Apple Watch Pro but may not be an exact fit.

Changes coming to watchOS 9 that show additional on screen

The new watch faces could have room to display metrics from workouts and health data gathered by the watch. The new watch faces come in addition to improvements made in watchOS 9 that seem tailored towards a larger Apple Watch, such as refinements during Workouts that show additional metrics all in one screen.

Beyond a new design and a larger display, the Apple Watch Pro will likely benefit from all the improvements coming to the Apple Watch Series 8, including a new body temperature sensor. The body temperature sensor, unlike typical thermometers, is unlikely to provide wearers a direct reading of their body temperature in its early iteration.

The Apple Watch Pro, with its all-new design, larger display, and more durable materials, is expected to cost somewhere between $900 and $1,000. The new watch will be the most expensive Apple Watch yet, likely replacing the Apple Watch Edition at the top of the lineup. The Apple Watch Pro, the Apple Watch Series 8, a new Apple Watch SE, new iPhones, and more are all rumored to be on the agenda for Apple's "Far out" event tomorrow.

It is gorgeous. I will buy for sure. Can't wait, actually.

“And that, young lad, is the story of how the term ‘Pro’ lost what little meaning it had left…”
Oh that happened long ago. Professions were lifelong endeavours: medicine, the law, and the cloth. Not moment in time flings such as professional YouTubing and ticktocking.

This is a must buy for all apple watch users and all budgets whatever u can afford it or not . This watch is a must have 😎🫣

Damn, that's U.G.L.Y.
Surely that can't be it.
I thought the AW7 design actually improved on the previous design, but this, this seems a step backwards. If I were looking to buy a new AW this year, I may hesitate at getting the the Pro due to that chunk protruding off the side of it. Perhaps IRL it won't be anywhere near as bad as the renders...??? This is just speculation after all.

I think it is time to have a new CEO that put back Apple on track with what is the future … this ain’t innovation but pure management based on marketing … latest products are not leading the way and slowly I am lurking at the competition with slicker design, better battery life and cheaper prices for most … I am currently testing a complete line to replace my Apple products on a day to day …

Wonder how many people will but this one just because it’s bigger.

I miss the days where the Apple Events were still a surprise. They still get us occasionally but seems we know most everything beforehand now. I guess I could stay off of the web more.

Lol. What you’re saying is that you wish the rumor sources weren’t as good… all while people on here simultaneously gripe about all of the mindless speculation. One truly cannot win here. It’s absurd.

But yes, I know. Apple stabilized. They became iterative. Anyone who ever knew Apple knows this, and it’s painful. It’s never going to be Steve Jobs again. I think a lot of the malaise is the mourning process and a desire for novelty to be driven by community excitement rather than corporate profit. Just remember that we got the CFO as the replacement. So we’re seeing a CFO’s vision. And that’s not all bad. Do you really want the days of MobileMe back? If so, I sentence you to 365 days of using iDisk again. Lol.

Feel like the price rumors of this have to be way off the mark. No way people will shell out north of $1000 for a device that is fundamentally not very different the current watch. A slightly larger display doesn’t warrant a 2x increase in price. This thing would really struggle to sell at that sort of price mark. I’d guess this thing tops out at $799. Even then I just don’t see the appeal

Don’t the Hermes start at ~$1,200 now??

We got the COO as the “replacement”, not the CFO. Steve would have had to evolve, too, as the company grew bigger. Tim is not a replacement, but he’s doing an awesome job with the company. I don’t think anyone else could do it any better.

Actually, in my experience you need to hold it in your hands and use it to determine if you like it. In the event videos and marketing materials you also only get renders, not the real thing. I hope there will be hand-ons again this year now that the event is in-person again. I was missing those.

there will be hands on, tons of Apple community reviewers from online and YouTube have been invited and even some sport watch specific reviewers that are known for catering to the athlete market.

I like it. It solves a couple of issues I have with the current design. First, the guard for the digital crown, Second, since the strap doesn't have to be backwards compatible it doesn't feel out of proportion to the rest of the watch. As the Watches got bigger, they kept the same goofy dinky band width for backward compatibility. Third better battery life. Fourth, hopefully more durable.
Design wise, it looks nice, And I honestly have never seen ANYONE able to rock the current design and make it look good. It's practical, but the current design looks goofy on everyone.

I don't know how anyone is going to pull off a 1.99 inch screen (what the 49mm AW-Pro is supposed to have) without looking goofy. To give you some idea of what I mean... the Garmin Fenix 7X sports watch is round and 51mm, it is a niche watch (their standard Fenix is 47mm) yet even at 51mm, the screen is only 1.4 inches because of the beefy bezels. Because AW-Pro has such slim bezels the screen is 1.99! That lit up screen will look like a flat panel TV strapped to your wrist unless you are 6'6 and 250 lbs. I'm shocked Apple isn't offering a 45mm Pro and a 49mm Pro, that would seem to be far more sensible, but maybe they can't get the battery life where they need it at 45mm to call it a "Pro." Maybe next year when they have a lower energy CPU?

Not going to lie, I like it and will buy it if these renders are accurate. The curved glass of the 45mm watch became almost obstructive when Apple basically went edge to edge with the larger display content. Prefer to see all the content flat, rather than the edges so curved with Apple Watch 7

I really love the look of the CAD, just can't buy it at this size. 45mm would be perfect for me and I was prepared to look silly and go to 47mm (the standard size of these "super watches" in the athletic world) but 49mm is just totally not doable. I'd look so stupid and I know it.
