Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me. Style over substance.

She's amazing. Look her up on YouTube and TED. And look at her results with Burberry. She operates from a place or meaning, values and respect and gets amazing results. She's very inspiring and motivating. No substance? She truly thinks different and I expect her to fit in very well in Apple's culture.

what exactly is wrong with the shopping experience? I hope she doesn't make it all girly. Steve jobs was definitely on the manly side of taste.

wtf.

Please share with us the research you did to come to the conclusion that she puts style over substance.

No? I didn't think so...

She's 54....Needs to lay off the botox

So, if someone looks good for their age (and their photo has likely been photoshopped) they automatically use Botox? Or are you a physician?

I'm now even a bigger fan of apple. they have a board of directors from Grameen America. :D
Of course, apple won't go to social business that Muhammad Yunus popularized :p

Yeah, totally. Give it two months and every Apple Store will be pink, with dolls and motherhood training. Because that's how girls work. Good job on realising this.

And you need to lay off the nasty, superficial comments. Since we're naming ages, I imagine you're 12 or 13?

If anything, the stores will be made into whatever causes people to spend the most total money on Apple products and be highly satisfied with what they got. Note that the closest competition to Apple stores in profitability per square foot are some high-end jewelry stores. Not anti-girly bait-and-tackle shops.

Anyone know the average revenue-per-square-foot of Burberry shops?

Also, the apparel section in the Apple company store at the Infinite Loop campus could use a makeover... Maybe the spaceship will end up with a bigger and better one.

Earlier this year, Apple was criticized for a lack of women in executive positions. Front page story and all.

And then, look, they hired a woman with the next available slot. Bumped the new hire all the way next to the CEO in the profile listings, just in case people didn't scroll below the fold.

Glad the best person got the job.

Um, she's next to the CEO because they're listed in alphabetical order.

So just because she's a woman you think the stores will become all girly? Lol. You realize this is Apple right, the most valuable company in the world? They're pros, not amateurs.

Your description makes me think it'll be like a womens shop with them dragging their men along

It's quite obvious apple isn't run by any prejucistce, so they hire people who are right for the job, hiring a minority just cause they are a minority is still racism in its self.

No, I'm sorry.

Your reply is appropriate when someone is complaining that a group's numbers aren't at the 'proper' percentages. Like, let's say they have 30% women and 15% minorities. Then you can pull out your comment and say "look, things don't always match the real world perfectly. They're picking the right person for the job."

It's ok in that case.

But when your page has been 100 PERCENT white male there's a problem there. As a white male myself I'd be uncomfortable being hired onto that team. I'd say "hey, maybe you should be looking past me just this once."

I in no way ever say that every group should be perfectly diverse. I'm with your comment in many other situations.

But this is not one of those situations.

Phew, lots of photographic enhancement

That's some major airbrushing and photoshoping on her photo!

As a customer and a stockholder, I couldn't give a **** about the color of their skin or what their private parts are like, I just want them to be good at their jobs. Anyone who thinks otherwise has their priorities in the wrong place, and I'm glad Apple would appear to not care one bit what they think. Based on her experience and expertise, Angela Ahrendts seems like a great new addition to the executive team, and her being a woman has nothing, nor should have anything, to do with it.

Ive's picture is awesome. A sweatshirt/tshirt looking thing, with the G-Star logo showing and not cropped out. Says "I don't give a #$# what you think".

Pfft, I like it. She brings style to the team. Nothing wrong with an "I don't care what people think" attitude, but caring what others believe shouldn't be the motivation for dressing well. Having worked in Cupertino, and been a part of "Silicone Valley", the casual hipster look gets old, especially once you hit late 30's.

I say go on wit yo bad self, girl, and bring some style to the place! :)

Hopefully she will be continuing to maintain Apple's status as a high-end brand, like Burberry. Looking forward to new changes in the Apple Store :D

I agree, although it was disappointing when Burberry moved production away from the UK to Asia like all the other brands. I wonder if her moving some of that production home has any similarities to Apples current plan / commitment.

I hope they fix the process of getting a defective (undamaged) Lightning cable replaced. I brought mine in to the Natick, MA Apple Store yesterday and here's how it went:

Met by a greeter/concierge, who directed me to another Apple employee. He gave me a replacement alright...and proceeded to try and charge me $20 and change. I simulated the defect within the cable and stated it was under a year old. He sent me over to another employee, who wanted me to simulate it again, and finally sent me over to Jake (from Statefarm). Jake gave me a replacement at no charge and out the door I went.

That's FOUR employees, in a span of 10 minutes, I had to go through for a simple replacement. Obviously 10 minutes isn't a long time, but does it have to take four employees to make it happen???

Apple needs to update the pics of its executive team, what they have there is beginning to look a little (actually a lot) dated.

Not only are they photoshopped to bits (as it goes with all board member/executives page for pretty much all companies), but they also use old pictures for some of them (*ahem* Jony Ive is at least 10 years younger and quite a bit slimmer on that photo, which has been used for a decade already anyway).

She just started so we can't jump to conclusions, but one of the critisizms of the experience at Apple is that the stores are too modern they look cold an uninviting. If she's bring a little bit of a balance between modern, inviting, and a subtle 'girly' touch... why not?

It takes a manly man to rock a pink iPhone 5c ;)
