Hopefully this means Lion is coming today, other wise someone at Apple could just be making these changes and then looking and laughing at this and other forms.

I wouldn't read too much into the backgrounds. I was sent an email yesterday advertising Back to School and the MBP had a Lion background. In the email, they describe the "Up-To_Date" program. I think they are just wanting people to think of Lion now. I don't think changes are happening "right now" for a Lion release today necessarily.

Probably. But as far as I know, anything promoting Lion always used a Lion background. We're all, of course, grasping at straws here, but it's one thing to have Lion backgrounds on Lion specific stuff. It's a whole different thing when they're adding them to the products in the store.

This is a good point. Straws are understandable. I've been wasting too much time for Lion to drop :)

Very interesting about the part number showing a new cinema display....Maybe the leaked part number assumed new macbooks since they were due for a refresh...

I've been trying not to get too enthused, but all these pictures of Lion on the store have started getting my hopes up, and I have been sat here refreshing this thread far too much.

I am indeed a straw clutcher.

http://www.apple.com/startpage/

This page was showing Lion coming this july.
Few moments ago I noticed it is not showing lion any more, but IOS 5 coming this fall. :)

I really hope it will be available tonight.

Refresh the page a couple of times. You'll see that it's a rotating banner. I've seen two versions: One with the "watch the keynote" and "Lion", then a second version that shows iCloud and iOS 5. I don't think anything has changed. If you look at the home page of apple.com, you'll also notice that Lion is still in a little box at the bottom too.

Man, we are really excited today! I know I've been scanning Twitter, Google, and a bunch of RSS feeds all day looking at anything related to a launch date.
