Mass brainwashing

These ads are meant to give Samsung phone owners bite-sized phrases to use when talking with iPhone users. It happens all the time: I'm talking to someone about getting the new iPhone and they start bashing it with phrases almost word-for-word from the ads.

One a related note: this discussion would be a lot more interesting if we all just started by acknowledging that Apple did in fact copy Samsung in this case. To be honest I was a little surprised with the 5.5" size. It feels like a very niche product. That's not to say it won't sell well the first couple of months because there's definitely pent-up demand. It just feels very un-Apple-like.

iOS really needs multi-tasking... its really liberating to be able to do two things at once - i.e. watch a movie in the background while surfing the web.

Considering that Apple sold the Newton nearly two decades ago--a device with a 5"+ display and a stylus with handwriting recognition--I question how exactly Samsung was first. If the only thing Apple is copying is the screen size, Apple used bigger screens in PDA's first.

Smartphones are just modern PDA's with cellular radios. That's what we called them before the iPhone.

And PDA's were just modern versions of chalkboards. And chalkboards were just modern versions of cave walls.

Not if you want something that relies on a specification. How much use would the user experience have been last last year if I wanted NFC?
Back in the day when Apple made up excuses for MMS and copy and paste. If I wanted that function THEN, (others had it so what if their implementation was different), the user experience added nothing. I still couldn’t send an MMS!!
THE USER EXPERIENCE IS BUILT ON SPECS, don’t lose sight of that.
And what would you do with that NFC tech? Apple did it right! Secure the partners then bring out the tech!bam!

Note 4 will release. Samsung will make a crap load of money. The S6 will release. Samsung will make even more money. Samsung isn't going anywhere anytime soon, despite the Apple faithful wishing Samsung would die

I'm not an Apple faithful and rather an average Android *and* iOS user. But if the Note 3 and S5 couldn't stop the decline in Samsung Mobile Segments profits, what makes you think the Note 4 will stop this trend? Especially that for the first time Apple is competing in that segment, too?

I'm glad Apple doesn't have to stoop this low in order to make their products look better.

Apple has stooped lower before, by suing Samsung a couple of times in court. Know this, that at one time. ..Samsung made 70% of Apples phone parts in the past, before their relationship turned sour.

Apple did not copy Samsung! Samsung was not the first with a larger phone.

Almost like the Apple brainwashing. After the release of the original iPhone, people went on Apple's forums to complain that there was no MMS. A lot of people jumped on board berating those that complained about the lack of MMS, channeling Steve Jobs declaring MMS is dead. Except, it wasn't and was later added to the iPhone (something that existed in phones for years). But, they toed the line. iPhone users defended the lack of MMS on Apple's forums.

apple and Samsung have a great relationship. Sour your misinformed.

Secure the partners? You do know that you can have more payment methods on Android than the iPhone right? Few banks and credit cards are missing from that keynote.

Edit: Also, NFC is not just used for payment on Android. That's all Apple talked about though.

We send links, pictures, secure messages, apps, etc. Oh, and we also can pay (since 2010).

And let's not forget about defending no BluRay support on Macs, no removable storage support on iPad, iPod or iPhone, no USB port on iPad, etc. Some of it was comical.

Ads that so directly demean competitors are rarely good for growth. They only serve to make those who like the other product like it more and those who already bought yours feel better. Anyone who is undecided will now understand that another option exists from someone that isn't mean spirited. While it may not be logical, it doesn't matter. Consumers buy for emotional reasons and negative ads incite negative emotional responses.

No they didn’t. Unless your statement concerns only these two companies. Psion Organiser, O2 XDA, Ericsson P800 and P910, Nokia Communicator etc etc…….

I think you're in the wrong thread. This is a Apple bashing Samsung thread. Please, move along.

I never noticed before but Samsung hadn't changed their design.... at all...

They show all 4 notes in a line and they look exactly the same. I always hear people making fun of apple and the whole 3G/3GS 4/4s 5/5s naming thing saying that all their phones are just a rebrand of the old one, I think these people haven't looked at other phone makers.

You say android has had this tech for many years? But living in the NYC city I have yet to see anyone pay with the android phone. :apple:Pay will be huge! It will be all over!

You don't need NFC to send links and pics, you can't be serious?

The ad highlights Apple thinking that their plablet idea is new....

Apple never said anything about the iPhone plus being a new idea

There are quite a few people out there that honestly have 0 interest in an iPhone Plus. A lot of people love S-Pen. Samsung will do just fine dude. It'll be interesting to see the Phablet (I hate that word btw) battle between the two tech giants tho.

I’m not sure how far they’ll get but there was some talk of the EU mandating a common connector on mobile phones, (which I disagree with). If Apple ever put a USB port on iDevices they’ll scream blue murder on here when it’s crippled and can’t be used properly, like Bluetooth.

Samsung are just being idiots! I mean seriously.
We all know that they are way ahead of Apple. People don't need to be told that. It's as if Samsung think we're all clueless. How insulting!!!

Yes Samsung put out some good products but why go to all that effort to make a big deal about it. That ad is hardly going to convince anyone of anything let alone convince people that they should buy a Samsung product.
And again, because it's an insult it puts people off them.

We never heard Microsoft make a big deal about tablet computing when the iPad came out.

If people want to buy an Apple product they will. The Apple community and ecosystem including the Apple Store is way ahead of everything and everyone. I mean I tried looking up info on the Samsung website regarding their Galaxy Gear S Watch and you can't find much info on pricing or relase date. They don't have a Samsung Store.

iPhone 6 Plus is actually a really cool phone/phablet that will fit nicely into a niche market that has been in much need of said device.

It's also a dead giveaway that Samsung are fearing Apple having great success with the iP6+.
Samsung fear Apple. LOL :p

I think we should all go out and buy an iPhone 6 Plus to push up the sales figures just to piss off Samsung. LOL :p  :apple:

I'm a few credits shy of a marketing degree so this is just my uneducated opinion: There is no value to this advertisement. What is their point here? We did it first? That's fine. Tweet that out. Make a comment to a reporter. But what value is there in creating an advertisement just to say you did something first? Samsung has to face the reality that Apple is going to sell a boatload of these phones. How do they respond? With a childish commercial about how they had a bigger phone first. They don't try to say that their phone is better. They don't highlight things the Note can do that the iPhone can't. For a few seconds they show the multi-tasking capability but the narrator doesn't say anything about it. I am not here to defend Apple against Samsung. Quite frankly Apple is going to do just fine selling these phones. I just find it amazing that Samsung puts money into these kind of immature and pointless ads.
