Samsung has become a very formidable force in the Smartphone wars. Apples hypocrisy is revealed in iOS 8, with the widgets copied from Samsung and so many other Android inspired innovations now copied by Apple.

Fact is as much as I like the iPhone 6 Plus, my year old Note 3 has a better larger display in a body that's smaller with very narrow top & bottom bezels.

It doesn't bend like iPhones, it's far more durable and has much longer battery life. It can do so much more than Apple allows there's simply no comparison.

Why does MacRumors post these stories? They're just giving them free advertising at this point. I understand the stories about the actual products of Apple's competition, but why post the attack ads? What kind of good discussion is going to come from this article? Who seriously thinks that this article is a valuable contribution to this site?

The average consumer who may be swayed by such an ad does not read fan forums. When you see an advertisement like this in any medium from any tech company, think like your grandmother or mother. Don't think like an Enthusiast and you'll understand why these types of ads are advantageous for companies such as Samsung, Apple or Microsoft.

Good try but blatantly false. iPhone 6 plus destroys the note 3 in battery life and the iPhone 6 does too for that matter (in Web browsing for 6, still waiting for full test). And the Note 3 is not more durable. My friend dropped his note 3 once and the fake metal band around the edge is very deformed and the black color is separating from the glass on the screen. The build quality on the note is note good.

I do not understand how these phones can ever be compared because they run totally different operating systems. Samsung, or anybody else, can make what may be the greatest phone in the world and it will still run Android. I am an iOS person and that is why I buy iPhones. This "comparison" never ceases to amaze me

Apple has the ability to tell people what to think. Samsung doesn't. Steve Jobs tried to convince everyone that styli were worthless, but those of us that can actually think for ourselves have always known better. And now look at Apple playing catchup. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when will Apple tablets and phablets have a built-in stylus.

Good. Samsung still didn't make them popular or invent the stylus. They're bound to have features first because their business model is to make as many different products as possible just to see what sticks regardless of how polished they are.

And just reading down a spec list doesn't mean there is an actual parity of features. Just like the fingerprint scanner. Samsung has one, too, and it totally sucks in comparison to Touch ID. Yet on paper they both have finger print scanners.

I don't really care if Apple has to play catch up on a couple things like screen size. My user experience with the iPhones I have had was FAR BETTER than the Galaxy I had with TouchWiz. If Samsung is so great then why doesn't anyone talk about how good TouchWiz is? Most people I know hate it but like the 'specs' on the phone (GS5). So really, the only thing Samsung is good at is hobbling hardware together in a cheap looking form factor, and put their terrible version of Android on there will all the bloat and their own apps which suck.

How great!

I am frustrated with Samsung over the last month or so. At first, I said the S5 was the best phone of 2014, but it's not. I am on my 5th iteration of the S5 because of overheating, battery life bugs, a bad vibrator, a screen glitch, and bad sync settings. My 5th phone is older than my original one, which I got in July. How do I get a replacement from May instead? It's really stupid. Plus, the GPS issue with AT&T didn't get fixed. It told me to drive into a lake when I was parked in parking lot looking to reconnect my signal. That's worse than Apple Maps. I had it with them. Now, this Note 4 issue is even worse. Touchwiz has great features and you can do a lot, but what's the point if the phones aren't reliable? I haven't heard anyone have 5 iPhone 6's or 6+ or 5S. Apple may lack in specs, but they have reliability. My iPad is the best piece of tech I have used in the tablet market since it does everything I need and at a good rate. The Nexus was more dynamic, but it didn't feel as clean or efficient.

Why not just admit you are only interested in Apple, know next to nothing about the competition and snuggle up in denial. It's only a phone.

How did I know I would end up reading a comeback like this?
Couldn't people say the exact same thing about your post up above?

Like you said, IT'S ONLY A PHONE. If it is only a phone then how you come you feel the need to come on here and basically call people stupid if they defend Apple or go against your post. If it is only a phone to you then I don't think you would see the need to come and defend so quickly your precious phone.

In the end it is only a phone and I'll never understand it. Ok, someone likes Apple. Big deal. Ok, someone likes Samsung. Big deal. Like you said, it is just a phone. I would take your own advice. Just saying.

So telling the truth means I'm in denial? Sure, build quality may be subjective but everybody agrees aluminium is better than faux imitation plastic that is made to look like aluminium. The only pro from the plastic is the elastic yield point is higher.

I like android, especially android L, I just don't like when people make dumb claims. The fact of the matter is android still lags, and the build quality on iPhones is second to none.

I doubt that. However, they might want to make sure all is well in their own glass house, before throwing rocks.
It's a funny ad and one that contains some valid points regarding Samsung strengths. That said those of us that know our Apple history and have been with them for some time, know Apple originated these kinds of tactics and now it's their turn to drink some of their own medicine.

Apples karma is bad at the moment, just look at the way this launch has been botched. One problem after the other, it hardly matters how much truth each one contains, there's a lot of people fed up with the shenanigans. Yet that said Apples dealt with these issues before, it is just part of their launch routine.

One things for certain, as long as the Apple logos don't fall off nothing will stop their devoted followers from spending whatever it takes to own Apples latest products.

Apple has the ability to make unpopular technology popular. ...

Certainly no one debates that the mass public... at least in some countries.. pays more attention to old/new technology if Apple sells it.

I'm not ignoring everything else you posted, but I only have to time to explain my response, which was only to this post by someone else:

....including Apple, which was the first company to manufacture and sell them. The world didn't begin in 2007 but the smartphone revolution did.

As the chart shows, the smartphone market was well on its way with or without Apple. In 2006, 30% of smartphones sold had touchscreens. It was widely predicted at the time, that capacitive / multi-touch screens would take over by the end of 2007.

Heck, that's why Apple jumped in when they did. They're very good at realizing when a technology is about to take off.

Apple also relied heavily on the smartphone work that had gone before it, which others had invested billions and years creating. From broadband chips to the worldwide cellular data infrastructure, to even the base design of a smartphone (apps, app launcher, contacts, email, etc). Without all the previous work of others, the iPhone would not and could not exist.

Would smartphones look the same as now if Apple had not jumped in? Probably not exactly, but maybe they'd be better. I think the apps would be more interoperable, for one thing. Other companies are much better at playing with others, than Apple is. They'd also tend more towards affordability. The whole point of ETSI royalties being based off device price, is to encourage makers to sell at a price point that lets more people adopt the technology, instead of makers going only for high profit margins.

I have a Note 3. The plasticky metal band does wear VERY easily. Annoying as hell.

The features they showed on the ad are all gimmicks. Multi window view is a gimmick during the 2 years I've been using my GN2 i've used it less than 10 times and mostly just to show off. S-Pen is gimmicky as well it's not practical for taking down notes I've only used it to draw crap on people's faces. Touch wiz is super slow. All samsung is doing is just flexing it's muscles but in real time application it's really not that great of a phone...

What's that sizzling sound?

Found out the reason for the gap in new Samsung Note 4.

Imagine playing a game on your phone and then you answer a call.

iPhone User: "What's that sizzling sound?"
Note4 User: "Oh it's just my Note 4 vents releasing hot air to my cheeks and cooking it". :(

:D:D:D:(

I suppose my comment wasn't worth reading, and this is as close as I can get to removing it.
