Awesome, you and the sales guy figured it out! That's a weight off everyone's shoulders. :D

Nah, they won't launch with ML. they would wait another couple of weeks. They want more people to give up hope and get 2011's so they can reduce their existing model stock. Same reason that it wasint announced at the keynote. Also they may be waiting on new GPU but that's irrelivent.

If they are waiting on a new GPU, I don't see how that's not relevant. In fact, I would say it's paramount. They released new Macbooks yesterday and I'm sure there was stock that still needs to be sold, so why treat iMacs differently?

For me its easy, just took my hdtv and hooked to my Mbpro 2006.
No 2011 Imac for me,i'll buy just the new one.

BS. That way they'll end up with tons of returns. It's either at ML launch or it's much later. Don't know

iMac boxes are bigger! ^_^

Correct me if I'm wrong, buts isn't the GTX 680M supposed to be a laptop GPU?

Yes.. which is what the iMac uses. There's never been room in an iMac chassis for a desktop GPU. In fact, they started out also using laptop CPUs.

Though the 7970M (Well entire 7XXX series) is both smaller, cheaper and runs cooler? Sounds like the better choice taking the heat problems/concerns of iMacs into consideration.

I don't think any of us know ish about anything when it comes to Apple updating or launching a new product.

My hope would be for a new iMac in July but it turns out that Apple doesn't actually give a ish about my hopes. lol

I think when Tim Cook was replying to that reporter... when he said "later next year"... he meant 2 things.
1. NOT that the launch would be LATE 2013 but rather more of a common phrase... "later next year".
2. I think Tim was emphasizing the Mac Pro update/redesign and not the iMac. That's what the reporter was emphasizing - the pro users and so Tim replied to that segment of the phrase.

Not sure how it's going to pan out but I'm very confident that any new iMac updates will be this year. The only thing that really concerns me is... the retina display. I don't think they'll be able to pull it off on a 27" without raising the price by a ton. Which in turn makes me agree with the whole idea of a spec bump within the next 3 months... with a possible retina display in 2013.

What they could try to do is add a 17" to the iMac line up... and throw retina on that one. I think a 17" iMac is a good fit... like how it was a few years ago. Obviously still retain the 21.5" and 27" iMacs too.

Basically... what I'm trying to say... in a nutshell is...

I am disappoint.
:(

Hopefully there WILL be one, I've heard many people say Apple are going away from the Desktop form factor :(

Has anyone checked those leaked benchmarks with the new MacBook Pro's? Would raise probability of the leaked iMac ones.

If updates are to come out this year and not next, we'll see new models appear in the store a week or so before ML is to be released and then ship with the new OS.

If we don't see a new model before the Back to School promotion ends (September 21) then it's not looking good for a 2012 iMac.

I Wonder one thing thouge why diden't Apple put retina display in the 11" and 13" macbook air woulden't that be cheaper then the 15"?

Then I agree that thay culd throw in a 17" or 19" iMac with retina desplay and keep the resent sizes with only spec bumps. I would rather see a spec bump't iMac this year and a redesigned retina iMac 2013.

I think it's taking so long becous Apple is working on something big!

I'm guessing the Intel HD4000 integrated graphics can't handle it, and there's no room in the Air for a discrete GPU.

My first thought too. I was thinking that a retina update would come along when the integrated graphics could handle it. (Haswell maybe?)

call me crazy, but today I just didn´t want to be part of the waiting game anymore. Most likely the next update will be minor, ivy bridge processeors etc...so a bump I dont really care about. I need a new machine to do my work and if some retina insane machine comes next year Ill buy that and sell this one.
I´m so happy, these last days have driven me nuts.
So, just bought a i7 16gb ram 256 ssd iMac...maxed out everything...yummy, its still hot hardware :)

atleast thats one machine closer for you waiters ;)

The HD4000 graphics are capable of doing 4k video there shouldn't be an issue with retina graphics.

Where exactly has "24th July" come from for the ML release option?

I'm assuming it's just a guess, as the only ML date I've seen anywhere from Apple is simply "July" (and previously "Late Summer").

Screw it, not playing the game anymore, Apple has taken WAY too long with this refresh. I will buy used, so as to give them no money. NOT paying 2012 moneys for a 2011 computer.
