It is a color that needs to seen in person. It is very hard to photograph. Even in the photographs, it loses saturation. It is very classy looking. A cool silver in artificial light and an ice blue in natural light.

Does anyone have a direct comparison against the blue iPad mini 7
(or iPad Air in blue, is that the same as iPad mini color?)

I have the iPad but not the MBA. The midnight looks truly awesome at an angle / on the lap : solid black.

I saw the blue colored air and it's silver. Zero difference. Who is apple trying to fool with their trickery?
Are you sure you weren't looking at a Silver one? I mean, no-one would say the "Sky Blue" is a pronounced blue, but I can definitely see the difference between that and silver, side-by-side. It's akin to the progression from Silver to Starlight, but in the opposite direction.

This is exactly my experience. Wrote it off when I looked at pictures but looks stunning in person. It's a chameleon color - like a Behr steely blue indoors with indirect natural light, silvery in warm lighting, almost S24 titanium grey/blue grey in cloudy and darker conditions.

I was planning on buying the nano-texture MBP but ended up buying the Sky Blue Air. I'm going to get AppleCare and just use a matte screen protector for when I travel (similar flex and thinness to the Kensington privacy one that Apple sells on their website).

It was definitely the new blue color. It was right next to the silver. Best Buy rep said there's no difference between the silver and blue too. I even stuck my phone's flashlight to it and it was silver.

And just like that I’m back to leaning towards getting Midnight again.

Really does look stealthy and also gives the illusion of less bezels IMO.

Midnight seems smaller too than the silver 13".. the side by side photo little misleading thinking the silver might be smaller because where it is on the table but. In general it feels smaller, it's an interesting illusion.

Midnight and Space Black on the MBP are amazing at making you focus just on the screen, especially in darker lighting conditions. If smudges and scratches aren't a big deal (they are to me), the dark colors are a pretty cool choice. I do wish they kept the Space Grey but oh well.

smudges and scratches are a big deal to me too :p but this will be a good exercise to get over it where I usually struggle.

At the rock bottom price point of $849 (micro center PM) for base M4 13" I can cope much better than watching something get mucked up that costs multiple thousands of dollars. We'll see how it goes

I always wish I went with the piano black 7plus over the matte black, that one was a classic! So maybe this is to make up for that.

I was at the Apple Store yesterday and in the bright light, the level of blue depended the angle. Standing directly above the MBA, it looked nearly silver but not entirely. When I moved over to the side, away from the direct light, I saw a very clear light blue tinge.

So true, Jet Black was 🔥. Also agree it's better to scratch up the base Air vs the space black Pro lol.

I bought mine at Micro Center as well, but got the 512gb version for $1019+tax. If you don't need 512gb $849 is an absolute steal.

It’s just a color like others… this won’t make me crazy lol

I've found that warm lighting (2700-3500k) tends to bring out the silver, while daylight and cloudy/dark lighting brings out the blue and grey more.

Do you have a name/model number for a matte screen protector you like? I, too, was all set on getting the nano-texture (was hoping against hope it might be an option on the MBA), but now feel like I'd really like the 13" MBA regardless. Might be nice to have a matte screen protector option.

I was just in the store to see it live and I won't be original, I'll repeat what has already been said here:

- the photos don't show how it looks at all,
- it's a chameleon color, depending on the angle and light it looks completely different,
- from the perspective of the user's eyes it looks dirty silver / very light gray, the blue is mainly visible on the outside casing at a fairly large angle,
- in the store the light source was exactly above the MBA, (Howard2k don't read this) Sky Blue also reflects light quite a bit, although it seems a slightly less reflective than the silver one,
- in the store it was next to Midnight Blue and these two colors couldn't be more different. Completely two ends of the spectrum,
- in general I agree with the previous speakers, it looks very classy, one of the most premium Apple colors, if not THE most premium one.

Edit: Just to add a little note for those who are torn between Sky Blue and Midnight Blue. If you want the rest of the world to "disappear" and have only the screen in front of your eyes to get into the "flow" now that the Space Grey is gone then the only option for this is Midnight Blue. I realized this when I saw them next to each other.

You can buy it on Amazon and get free shipping if you have Prime:

It is unfortunately not magnetic like the Kensington, but instead uses a light adhesive around the borders.

However, it can be taken off, washed and reapplied multiple times which hopefully means there won’t be any residue/damage. This should allow me to only use it when I need to be outside in the sun or traveling out of town for work.

It’s as thin as the Kensington and the lid can be closed just like the Kensington so I am betting on it not cracking the screen. There is also no adhesive on the screen itself and since it doesn’t actually stick to the screen there are no bubbles.

I figured with a worst case scenario cost of $170 ($70 for AppleCare plus $99 deductible for a broken screen) I still come out ahead vs a Pro.

Hopefully Apple adds the nano option for M5 or I will just wait for the MBP redesign in 2026 if this combo does a good enough job.

So far I’m loving the fanless light weight form factor of the Air, coming from the 14” M1 Pro MBP

Ha ha, you're killing me. I read "very classy" and am on the verge of clicking and buying Sky Blue. Then I read "dirty silver" and want to change my mind again to a straight, "clean" Silver. Argh!

Of course I do really appreciate your trying to quantify a subjective color, because it's much too far for me to drive to an Apple or other store and see one in person.

One minute I'm like: Okay Silver is safe. I have silver. I don't hate it.
The next minute: Ooh but Sky Blue could be different and neat!
Mostly: Why can't they make white ones anymore?

I tend to hang onto my Macs forever so I'll have to live with it for years. No pressure!

Haha, sorry for the confusion but it is indeed confusing color 😁 "Dirty" might have been a little bit harsh word, maybe cooler or greyer Silver would fit better.

I will say this, if deciding between Silver or Sky Blue I would not hesitate even for a second - Sky Blue, it's that good.

So you mean it isn't as shiny as the normal silver one? Maybe blue ist better for distractions/reflections....?!
