It's true, the longest-lasting freshness looks especially good with MBP and contrasting keyboard. From the perspective of the object itself it looks simply the best.
The thing is that the color is not only for admiring it by yourself and others. Silver is the most shiny color, in bright light reflections from the trackpad area make it completely unusable. Very, very distracting. Same thing goes in a very low light, this time around it reflects screen light.
:D :D :D :D :D

That's a new one. Silver is unusable in bright or low light because of reflections :D:D:D:D:D

You've never actually used one have you? Seriously, it's ok.

Literally millions of people routinely use silver laptops in both bright light and low light.

From photos, it looks alright. I prefer it on the iPad mini personally, think I would get a little tired of it on a laptop.

Are you ok? Calm down your emotions mate.
Yes, I used silver MBP for over 8 years and for this very reason I jumped ship to Space Grey as soon as it was time to change the laptop.
Anyone who works with color (photo/video etc) and often with variable lighting that they cannot control knows exactly what I am talking about.

Edit: I didn't even mentioned that it's so distracting for the surroundings. I challenge you to find a photo of a single DIT station where they use Silver Macbook instead of Space Grey (it has to be a newer Macbook, one that was already available in two colors).

Now you're just contradicting yourself. First silver is unusable in bright or low light. Then you used one for 8 years.

How did you use it if it's unusable?

Just wait until you hear that people used to use computers with less than 16GB of RAM.

I think you're being just a tiny bit dramatic with the "unusable" schtick. I did genuinely LOL though, so thanks.

I see that you are looking for conflict, you have to look elsewhere.

Yes, people were also working on PCs with 50 MHz processors and 16 MB of RAM (I was one of them). You get the most out of what is available at the time. And Silver is also fully usable with proper lighting control (that's why if you re-read what I wrote it will click - I said that it's unusable in specific lighting conditions).

No, not looking for conflict. I was looking for laughs and found a good one.

I think what you're actually suggesting is that in a super limited set of circumstances the silver can be an issue. And yes, I get that. Just like the "illuminated" logo of old was also problematic in a very narrow set of circumstances.

But as a blanket statement, which your original post appeared to be, it was exceptionally funny and dramatic. Just as it would be if I had said that the MacBook with illuminated logo was unusable (without further qualification).

And if you were using 50MHz machines with 16MB of RAM I'm sure you also chuckle at those who say that the MBPro is not usable as a laptop as it's too heavy (look at laptops from 10-20 years ago), or that the screen on the MBAir is unusable because the image is not refreshed at 120Hz or whatever (I'm sure you remember CGA).

Again, I do get your point now in the context of a super specific and narrow set of circumstances.

You've made yourself a straw man to fight with. Re-read my first post again. I did not write anywhere a blank statement, as you're suggesting, that it is unusable in all conditions. I wrote about these particular conditions in the first post. I still stand by what I said there.

Our local Best Buy had the sky blue on display today in the store along with the Starlight and Midnight colors

I think it looks okay and my spouse liked it enough that he plans to order one in that color :)

I saw it in store yesterday in comparison to my Silver MBP 16" M4 Max.
IT is a refreshingly beautiful colour. I would say get it if you want silver [non fingerprint junk] with a little bit of colour play in it... even im tempted lol but trying to not buy it [already have a 11" iPad Pro M4 lol]

I didn't create a strawman. Here is your quote:

Nowhere did you write about these particular conditions. You simply said what you said above.

"completely unusable"
"very, very distracting"

Sorry you have difficulty recalling your own posts, but there you go.

You really have trouble reading. It's written directly, you've even quoted it twice, I don't know how you can be so dishonest.

"in bright light"

"in a very low light"

Right. You’re saying that the MacBook Air in silver is completely unusable in bright light and low light.

We agree that is what you wrote.

And that’s an absurd statement.

It really is time to let go, man.

I'm actually kinda thrilled the hype is on for Sky Blue. Will make midnight less prevalent. And by midnight being a fingerprint magnet / sorta blueish black in some lighting, will deter others.

At the right angle, and even with concessions that it needs to be wiped off every once in a while, It is such a clean looking computer and at night too. Giving me real 13" black MacBook vibes from long ago.

And now with blue being silver ish, you have silver, blue silver, and goldy silver... and midnight.

Things were trending blackish, now it's silver overload. But I love the classic silver as well, no regrets on past couple machines (and 15" M2 in silver which I am muling over keeping alongside this M4) in silver. I have come to regret space grey for being too boring and all the same, but now maybe people will miss it since its been yanked as just 'one of those things'

It is a color that needs to seen in person. It is very hard to photograph. Even in the photographs, it loses saturation. It is very classy looking. A cool silver in artificial light and an ice blue in natural light.
