New Studio Display or Pro Display XDR Spotted in Regulatory Database

How likely is it that the new studio display using mini led will have pulse width modulation? I have sensitive eyes and my current studio display is very comfortable to use, was actually thinking of picking up another next month.

Yes. As it stands I need all the bandwidth on my Thunderbolt ports for high speed data. Daisy chaining won't work, I get a performance drop if I do. Therefore, I must use my HDMI port. If all Macs remove HDMI ports and give me another Thunderbolt port, I would be fine. But this will never happen. And Apple is essentially saying they do not fully support their own hardware. Tell me to go elsewhere, fine, but that will forever put Apple displays as a niche. I would love to get one, but cannot because lack of HDMI ***FROM MY MAC***!

Apple added back HDMI with the Apple Silicon models because people complained since the last Intel refresh about not being able to connect their Macs to televisions and projectors in conference rooms without being forced to use a dongle or a USB-C to HDMI cable.

I am not aware of any Apple OEM display that had HDMI as an input option.

You're wasting your bits.

Being helpful to others at the very least of the obvious shortcomings of the LG 6K compared to the Pro Display XDR—especially if they want parity with the HDR performance of their Apple Prosuner hardware (i.e. Apple’s Macbook Pro and iPad Pro borrow directly from its XDR tech) and other prosumer hardware it simply isn’t capable of.

Thunderbolt 5 enables parity with DisplayPort and HDMI 2.2, so a user can just use USB-C to HDMI 2.2 / DisplayPort 2.2 cables.

USB-C is far more versatile and easier to use being a reversible connector and smaller footprint than using HDMI 2.2, DisplayPort 2.x, and to an extent China's GPMI.

Personally, I was fine with the MacBook Pros only having TB ports and using cables/dongles to connect to other standards, but there was a fair bit of howling from the customer base over it, so...

For a monitor it’s different and again Thunderbolt 5 offers more versatility to be only used with its superior Bandwidth and Daisy-chaining capabilities for multi monitor use for more tighter/manageable use of cables.

It’s also unlikely HDMI 2.2 scalers will be available to more maximize the bandwidth of a 6K/8K with Pro Motion as well as Dolby Vision & HLG HDR.

I see Apple like the Pro Display XDR I have stick with Thunderbolt as the primary input with complimentary USB-C data ports that hopefully is USB4 or Thunderbolt 5 all-around
