SeaMonkey. Well, ok. It's not JUST a browser but a integrated suite that includes a mail client. I think it does a pretty good job for mail and browser. Cheers

its clear that most people here use safari. safari is cool... but its not perfect. I find sites that work fine with FF or camino that safari can't handle all the time. gets pretty annoying.

apple needs to update safari more often... and don't make me buy a new OS to get a new version of it.

I find safari's small navigation buttons annoying... camino and ff have bigger buttons, safari's should be bigger imho. :)

I agree, if you use safari, pithhelmet is a must have addon.

I like safari, but Im not sure it's a favorite... it needs work.

I love Safari. I only use Firefox to debug some of my sites/apps and to browse sites that render funny in Safari.

I was a huge Firefox user for a few years now, but once I got used to Safari I did like it better. It just works better in mac. Only thing i miss is the gmail stuff, but to fix that I just have everything sent there forwarded to my mail account here on the mac.

Pop up hell

Safari is a good Mac browser. Won't open everything, won't display everything. Fast and seldom crashes.

Firefox slow and has a crude display of text. Annoyingly windozey look and feel. Will open pages Safari can't. Gives options in some Google products that Safari doesn't.

I have 'em both in my dock, but mostly use Safari.

I find firefox to be more stable and there are a lot of add-ons you can download for free which is great. I personally prefer Safari because I like how its integrated with iphoto.

On my 500MHz Pismo running Tiger, Safari is significantly faster to boot and snappier overall than Firefox. Since the machine has so little horsepower this gives you an indication of how much more efficient Safari is. That said it lacks a lot of the little features I added on to Firefox with extensions, and I do miss them. But Safari runs SO much better that I use it exclusively now on the Pismo.

On a more recent iMac I found very little performance difference between the two browsers.

I second all of the above.

I use Safari with Saft and acidsearch add ons. For me that does pretty much everything I want from a browser, plus it keeps the tight integration that apple is so good at.

I do use firefox occasionally though, stumbleupon and the way firefox handles RSS is far superior to Safari. I haven't looked at Safari 3 though, maybe they'll fix RSS...

Opera is the best browser on any platform. It requires less ressources (Firefox is a pig), it is faster than both Safari and Firefox, and it's got enough options to keep a lot of I-need-my-special-Firefox-extensions people happy. ;)

This kind of thread always opens up a can of worms.

Personally, I think Safari is pretty, but not powerful enough for my needs.

Instead I use Firefox with a metal theme installed, to give it that 'Apple look'. Firefox is better for me because it is far more compatible than Safari - none of the 'your browser is not supported' errors - which I frequently get with Safari. It also features better RSS handling - especially in the Bookmarks Toolbar. Being able to install useful addons such as 'Adblock' are a huge bonus, as is customising the look of the interface. And knowing that Firefox on a Mac runs just the same as Firefox on a PC is useful in my multiplatform work environment. I also find that there is no real difference in performance between the two browsers, but I prefer the way that Firefox loads slower pages.

What's the metal theme you use? I'm mainly a firefox guy because I like the easy addons like fireftp, and the bookmarks syncer across my mac and PCs

I've used firefox for as long as I can remember (not saying much...). I have converted many-a-others to use the same. It's worked very well for me on windows, on linux, and also on my mac :)
But you can also give safari a gander.
I did give it a try and it just didn't taste right to me since I've been so used to FF all these years.

I was the same until I discovered Inquisitor...over time I now appreciate all the little advantages of Safari, and Firefox seems too slow and Windows-y to me...

I preferred Firefox but now use Safari 3 exclusively as it seems to run much faster than Firefox.

I tried all the popular ones and ended up liking Camino best. I think the "best" browser simply means the best fit for your personal tastes....
