After watching it, I am pretty sure that this is just a gallimaufry of B-rolls collected off the floor from his other films and pieced together by Ai then color graded to match Mad Max.

I'm 5 episodes in and it still is "foreshadowing" or at least building plot and character but very little action. Really well made but you better not jump in expecting an aliens attack Earth movie. The aliens seem to be the smallest plot line.
Invasion IMO is a drama that happens with the backdrop of an alien invasion rather than an action or SIFI genre show likes of V or Another Life.

The trailer would have one believe otherwise. Very misleading IMO. Heck, the title "Invasion" suggests something more than 5 hours of slow moving plot with barely a hint of what is happening and characters acting stupid -- that doctor willingly went with the military to help without telling her family and never once asked them what the hell was going on. Really? That would literally be the first thing out of any normal human's mouth and that's just poor writing.
(we won't even talk about the busload of kids that went over a cliff and all miraculously walked away mostly uninjured and blessed with professional rock climbing skills)

I've yet to watch this but am betting I enjoy it more than the first 5 episodes of that show.

Gotta agree with you.

The show was fine, but I felt like I'd seen it before. It was just as entertaining to look up "gallimaufry" and learn a new word.

Haha. Well said.

One of my favourite movies I have watched recently, though I watch precious few movies.
Loved the conceit of a dystopia movie where the disaster was window-dressing and not the focal point. It is a story about a man and his companions and their relationships. Doesn't need huge action scenes, chases, or fights.

I am not afraid to admit that I sobbed at a certain scene later in the movie.

I think having the chase from the trap house never actually resolve into anything was a smart move. They could have gone into a whole action movie from there, but it would have taken away from the story being about the character relationships. Plus it was cool to keep the whole cast down to basically 1 [human] person, flashbacks aside.

The certain scene I mentioned was Finch playing fetch with Jeff and Goodyear just before he died. I think it was a beautifully done scene, and knowing since the beginning of the movie that Finch was dying didn't make it any easier to know Goodyear was losing his best friend. It's almost worse than if Goodyear had died.

A part of me wishes Finch could have seen the golden gate bridge, but the final scene would have probably had less impact then.

Overall just a great film, and a rare one that it actually captured my whole attention start to finish. Not multi-tasking on this one.

I read these posts quickly and wondered how Dr. Who got involved, then realised it wasn't Gallifrey that was being mentioned !

I agree about video quality, but anyone with decent speakers would definitely notice the audio.
I don’t know. I have an Atmos capable system with a 5.1 speaker setup. Sounds incredible to me using an Apple TV. Also can’t tell the difference when I use a disc other than streaming is quicker to load and more convenient.
