I just orderd my 32gb white iPhone 3GS from apple.com for 299.99.....I bought my iPhone 3g on launch date of last year .....so it works!!!! Call *639# and if you are able to get the new pricing it will text you back saying "we offer you full upgrade pricing and we will wave the 18.00 activation fee!!!!

I got mine on launch day as well and just tried it and got the following:

A full discount on a standard handset or iPhone upgrade is not available at this time, but you may qualify on 12/12/2009. We can offer you an iPhone upgrade at a higher price with a 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee. Please visit a participating iPhone sales location for pricing on this offer.

So I'm assuming this really does mean it's only for people that spend over $99/month

Yeah my bill for my phone has allways been like 160.00 a month 99.99 for unlimited talk,30.00 for unlimited data and email....and 15.00 for 1500 text....so yes if you have not been paying over 99 a month and you got the 3g between June/September of 08 then u won't be able to get the discount

Yup, as expected, AT&T changed my upgrade date to today. It even says they will waive the upgrade fee. :D My original upgrade date was July 12, 2009.

I wonder why my date didn't get changed.

I'm a current iphone 3G user. I was not an early adopter however, I paid full price for a 3G though. When I bought my phone originally it was October 2007 so I am eligible on 7/28/2009. I wonder why they didn't bump mine up since i'm an existing iphone user.

This has been aggravating me...

I pre-ordered last week and my upgrade date was 7/14/09. Yesterday, when they announced the reduced pricing I got excited! I then checked my eligibility and find they PUSHED IT BACK to 12/12/09!

I was on the phone with a rep for over an hour and a half, and luckily she saw the 07/12/09 date but couldn't figure out why it was moved. I've made no changes to my account since last week.

Kinda feels like a slap in the face ... :(

My situation is sort of similar. It shows my contract is up on 7/12/09 but my next upgrade is 12/12/09. Makes it look as if they wouldn't give me the full iPhone discount even if I want to renew my contract on 7/12/09!

I'm one of the early adopters and it still has not updated. I did talk to a AT&T rep yesterday afternoon and they verified that I am eligible. I'm not sure why online it says, I do not.

Well I think that was it.....you are not a early adopter

Yeah, well, yesterday I was at 12/12/2009... today, I'm now at 03/26/2010. I bought the first gen iPhone on launch day, and the 3G on launch day too.

AWESOME.

::eye roll::

That's kind of BS though. It doesn't state that you had to be an early adopter in the press release. Just another sham job of customer service by wonderful AT&T. I think I may wait for Verizon to get the phone and get the heck out of dodge, because AT&T CS sucks donkey nads.

so for those of you who are now eligible, where are you ordering? apple online? att online? going into a store this weekend?

I went to apple.com.......clicked on iPhone....clicked on buy now....then threw the whole process and it will ask you if you want to pick it up or have it shipped

Ok so...

I bought a day 1 iPhone original.

Bought a 3G, day 1.

I've had the 59$ plan, with Unlimited Text 20$ + The Unlimited Data plan this WHOLE time..

and i don't get this early upgrade thing??

#@#@#@!#@#

Yah I don't understand this either. I got my phone the second week of the 3G release and it says I am eligible for an upgrade in December.

*facepalm*

AFAIK, to qualify for this special thing AT&T is doing, you need to meet both of the following requirements:

1. have been an iPhone 3G "early adopter" (i.e. bought in Jul/Aug/Sep last year)
2. have a monthly bill of $99+/month

for me, i picked up 2 iphone 3g's on launch day. the mrs had to get a new iphone around december, and i picked up a new unit in march, both by signing new contracts (before apple offered the water damage option), so at the beginning we were uneligable for the upgrade, but now on the apple site, i see that we are both back on track...although i dont think im picking it up ASAP, its good to know that when i want it, at&t finally took their head out of their a$$.
