I upgraded to the 3G on July 17th 2008 and my upgrade date is 10/04/2010. Can anyone explain this one because the AT&T rep I spoke with couldn't and said there was nothing she could do for me? I have auto pay and have no delinquency charges on my account. Not sure how I feel about having to wait 28 months to upgrade on a 24 month contract...

Are you part of a family plan? Upgrading one phone on the family plan sometimes (incorrectly?) pushes the upgrade date for other lines forward. Call back and push for a manager and explain your case. If that doesn't work, threaten to leave and/or not renew your contract. That usually gets across to them.

I know for a fact that they can change the upgrade date because AT&T has changed an incorrectly set upgrade date for a phone on my family plan.

I called At&t back today and they said it needs to be $99 per LINE not per account. And since my iPhone is my second line, even with the Data and Unlimited text it doesn't make the $99 threshold to qualify.

Oh well, I was planning on getting a new line anyways so I can get the phone at full discount pricing. And now next year when the next iPhone rolls out I will know I will be 1000% eligible for that upgrade.

yea, I thought that what was gonna happen(after reading stuff today)...its sort a bummer...had I know this, I'd have made my iPhone the main line!

Same thing. I didn't even think about putting my old sim card into my 3G, I just changed my number basically. No biggie I guess, Live & Learn.

It was pretty funny though because the At&t CSR basically told me that At&t released that press release in error and that it was incorrect and that I should not go by it. Even though there are many reports of others being able to get the phone at a fully discounted price.... It's kinda fun when a phone company plays 'Telephone' and customers are told all kinds of wacky things.
