Only way 5'5 works is if apple add extra features to compete in the phablet market so it will need some better features than the new iPhone 4.7

Yeah thats where things specific to screen/device size should come in like split screen multitasking, ability to run iPad apps, slightly faster clock rate, better speakers etc.

Things like optical image stabilisation could easily be in both size phones, and its stuff like that which will put off a lot of people and make Apple look even more money hungry than normal.

Having now had an LG g3 5.5" screen, it would be hard to go to a smaller size. It would make sense if the iPhone had the same battery.

I know that 4.7" is "the sweet spot" etc etc but the more you use a bigger screen as a consumption device, the more is makes sense.

Of course the G3 has tiny bezels, which massively helps.

Hopefully the iPhone 5.5" can get close to that. If it ends up like a Sony Xperia Z2, it will simply be too big.

Isn't it bigger than Galaxy's would look ridiculous. I know those bezels and frame will eventually be smaller. I'll go 4.7" and in a couple years when they do away the big bezels and go all touchscreen I'll bite. I got an Air if I need a big screen.

I don't see any iPhone in this video!

Anyhow, here is a leaked photo of the battery for the upcoming iPhone 7...

Agreed, I think spilt screen/multitasking is a must.

Having an ipad mini, no way I would choose to do my browsing or games on a smaller size. even 5.5 is tiny compared to 7.9. I just don't find myself in situations enough where I browse much on my phone I actually want a 2.5-3" iphone mini. small and light are the most important factors for the thing I take everywhere, just as long as it is still fully capable of doing anything I might want it to do internet wise.

Everyone's lifestyle is different and I get a lot of people want a giant phone to have the one device they carry with them everywhere have a big screen, but it seems to me like more of a swiss army product that tries to do everything, and is best at nothing.

If Apple were to handle this like they did the iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina Display, whereby both models are almost identical in specs apart from a marginally fast processor clock due to better thermal dissipation for the larger Air then that would be the best course of action

That would be the dumbest thing ever. People want big screens so that they can do more stuff with them, not so that they can do the same stuff with a slight magnification. Galaxy Note vs. Galaxy S is the perfect case in point. A 5.7" Galaxy S would be pointless, but throw in multitasking, a Wacom digitizer etc. and you have a massive seller.

How funny would it be if there was no larger iPhone presented tomorrow just an upgraded 4" phone, slimmer and with better battery life. All the leaks turned out to be just prototypes. then Cook can say that they tried various larger sizes but in the end concluded that just as they suspected, it just doesn't work, the phone is the right size as it is.

Let's hope that they pull some sort of efficiency tricks from their sleeve as well as increasing battery capacity, which would give us a two-fold boost in battery life.

Not because of the practicality of it, but purely so we can wipe that "wall-hugger" smug grin off Samsung's face haha

It is obviously as good or better at everything than a smaller phone, with the exception on portability, so I don't really get your point here.

If the 5,5" iPhone 6 has a 2,915 mAh capacity, I don't believe the 4,7" will have just 1,800 mAh.

From the iPhone 5s (4") to the 4,7" iPhone 6 the just will be only about 0,300 mAh, "reports claim". We are talking about 0,300 mAh for a 0,7" screen size bump.

For the 5,5", "reports claim" a bump about 1,1mAh for a 0,8" screen size bump (4,7" -> 5,5"). That doesn't make much sense.

I bet Samsung et al. would at least find it absolutely hilarious with the massive amount of new sales that they would be reaping from people force-quitting their tiny screened iPhones.

Didn't Apple patent something about multitasking a few months back? i'm sure i read something about it.

Also maybe they will use this in the 5.5" iPhone 6, looks interesting and its for iOS

I'm sure and hope they have something up their sleeves. Only way I would leave the note line would be for the 5'5 iPhone so I hope it competes with the note 4

Would be disappointing if 4.7 iPhone is the only one released. Will see I guess

If you look at my second comment I mentioned about the multitasking, what I am trying to get at is that the 5.5" should not have higher spec hardware than the 4.7" apart from as you said a digitiser so you can use a pen or something, the base phone should be the same.

Its the image stabilisation rumour that is annoying me, why should the bigger phone get the fancy optical image stabilisation tech where the 4.7 which could no doubt easily fit it gets it left out, it has nothing to do with screen size or productivity its just greed if thats the case.

Lol everyone is different, true but a 5.5" smartphone fits in my pocket.

An iPad Mini doesn't.

We are having different conversations.

I'm sure they do, i don't think Apple would enter into the bigger screen phones and phablets if they didn't think they could make it better. We will find out tomorrow but i also hope there is a 5.5"

It is obviously as good or better at everything than a smaller phone, with the exception on portability, so I don't really get your point here.

the point is portability, which is a huge deal for a portable device you keep with you 24/7 to remain connected to the world and a main factor, not just an exception.

I'll probably be doing this, I do want the 5.5. screen but the bezel will make it even harder to hold. Unless Apple drastically reduce the size on the 5.5. I'll be going for the 4.7 and waiting for a smaller 5.5 in the subsequent years.

I'm still waiting for an iPhone which allows me to keep all its features on and last a whole working day.

Apple are going to alienate a lot of customers if they make the 5.5" with better specs than the 4.7"
Like how they alienated a lot of customers by making a 5S with better specs than the 5C?
So far the iPhone 6 (god I hope they drop the number this time round) leaks/rumours indicate that we will get that and more and the design is looking kinda nice (I'm not too bothered by the antenna bands which have divided most people in here) but I will be annoyed if I ended up with an inferior device because I chose a smaller screen.

So how will you notice this "inferiority" on a daily basis, unless you have someone with a 5.5" iPhone following you around so that you can constantly compare how that phone performs better?

Either the 4.7" model will perform according to your needs, or it won't. It will not perform any worse just because there is a "better" model on the market.

I'd take a 12.5" iPad as a phone. Most people think, "Hey, try sticking that up to your head," but for me, the last time I had any phone up to my head was using my work one. I use earbuds, and those work for me.

For others, they can use what works for them. If Apple had the one phone to rule them all, that would be awesome, but the fact that we all come in different shapes and sizes, as well as tastes and wants, choice, it would seem, would be the way to go. (look at me, getting all philosophical...)
