Sadly people's appetite for wanting to know what the "next big thing" is has completely killed any joy of an Apple event. So we're all going to watch the event and Apple are going to say here's the new iPhone 5c, here's the iPhone 5s and we're going to say... yeah we know, we've seen it already. There's just no surprises anymore, well at least none that make you go Wow!! didn't see that coming...... I miss not knowing.

But it's no different than all the TV and movie "spoiler" sites that tell readers what will happen in future episodes. If one doesn't go to those sites though they are still surprised (maybe).

So it seems to me if one wants to maintain that surprise feeling at Apple events then they should avoid Mac rumor and "news" sites.

But let's be honest, what Apple release since the iPad has been much of a surprise or had WOW! factor even when first read about as a rumor? Personally I can think of none. Lot's of improvements, but no game changers.

The first we heard of the new Mac Pro was from Apple -- few rumors about that one. I think people had more questions than anything else on that preview. So whether one learns online or direct from Apple -- does it really matter that much as far as excitement is concerned?

Not really very exciting is it? iOS7 which we've all seen, on a plastic iPhone. Meh probably find it boring as I'm on my 3rd iPhone and the 5c may be my forth.

So you spend your time on Apple rumors sites, and then claim that its Apple's fault that you're not surprised.
What's wrong with this picture?

Pure fantasy. That would completely and totally gut sales of the 5s. This is as close to a 0% chance as you're ever gonna see.

I agree. The person you were replying to lives in a pure fantasy world where companies make more money off of surprises than products. lol

When Tim Cook said they were going to double down on security - did he mean on the devices or on the information about the devices :)

He might've doubled down, but that doesn't mean he won the bet :)

This reminds me of The Verge article last year, talking about how "Double Down" is the "most meaningless phrase in tech." They mentioned:

  • HP: "WE ARE DOUBLING DOWN ON WEBOS"
  • APPLE: WE'RE DOUBLING DOWN ON SECRECY, SIRI
  • GOOGLE: WE'RE DOUBLING DOWN ON TABLETS IN 2012
  • FACEBOOK: STOCK TROUBLE MAKES IT A GOOD TIME FOR EMPLOYEES TO "STAY AND DOUBLE DOWN"

After using iO7 on a test unit the only thing I'll be getting will be a Samsung S4!

In the same spirit of informing others of my very important life decisions, I went to all the BMW forums to tell this time I went with a Volvo instead.

At this point I'm willing to guess Apple doesn't really care all that much about leaks like this. After all, it's not a new, never before seen product. While I'm a bit surprised at the 5C and iPad mini leaks, still, they're not completely new products, and the supply chain is already there so leaks are pretty inevitable.

The all-new, never-before-seen stuff though? What leaks other than whispers and speculation have we seen about iWatch or a full scale AppleTV? We never even saw the first clue about the new MacPro until the day it was unveiled. I suspect Apple cares more about the truly new stuff than the current products getting updates, revisions and different sized versions.

For those who haven't seen this ever

iPhone b**ch!

chances of this happening....0. Who would buy a 5S if they also said that if you wait 2 months the 6 is coming out? That just doesn't make any sense at all.

Oh...I know it probably won't happen. Just dreaming/speculating.

Granted I will get a 5S on release day...the thought of waiting 12 more months for a larger screen is killing me.

Or not be a klutz? :)

('Golfshot GPS' is my number one 'must have' app.)

One drop in a year! From one foot! I know I know, I'm asking too much of a mobile device to survive that kind of abuse... ;)

iPhone 4 was tougher, 3G tougher still, iPhone 5 still working and looking "ok" but definitely more marked up than my previous ones with arguably less "punishment". :)

I don't use golf apps - I rely on my terrible eyesight to judge everything, hence my 20+ handicap :D

Yeah, but it would be nice if we got a pleasant surprise once in a while.

I'm in the same boat. I just hope lackluster sales of the 5S doesn't cause Apple to release the larger screen iPhone 6 six to seven months from now. Waiting 12 months is too long, six months on other hand...

Thankfully iPhone's maintain their value such that trading in every year isn't that painful. I have two lines so I can upgrade every year. A small $10/monthly bump in my bill gives me the freedom to have the latest. Just have an old flip phone on the other line that I keep but don't use. My wife on the other hand only upgrades every two years...so while we will both get iPhone 5S models this month...I have another line that will be ready next summer. I realize it doesn't work that way for everyone...but is an option.

The new iOS only brings Apple up to date with android and if you call colouring every thing white, which, looks shocking on the black phone innovation, you'll be happy.

Several updated versions on the iOS are just meh! including thenew way you choose/scroll through dates etc.

Sorry peeps

I think a Samsung will suit you very well when you wear that beautiful Galaxy Gear watch with it.I am sure the people on the Phandroid forum will roll out the red carpet for you.

If your wife only upgrades every 2-years why don't you just ditch that extra phone and stagger your two upgrades?
Then you get a new phone every year and she gets your hand-me-down every year.
Win -- Win.

Hmm, I bought an S4 (I was an avid iPhone user up to then and got fed up waiting for a real upgrade - iPhone rumors have always proven pretty reliable) and it has not locked up once, nor have there been any viruses on it. No flakiness whatsoever.

You have obviously not tried Android lately. It has matured a whole bunch over the last couple of years. The folks who have freezing problems with Android have either underpowered off-brand tablets with limited RAM, or they have installed an unstable firmware from the experimental/development branches of various projects. Mine is rooted but I am keeping Samsung's firmware on it, because I happen to like Touchwiz and their other refinements.

Who cares?

When are we going to get some 'Mac' rumors on this site? I'm so bored of tuning in every day just to see yet another blurry photo of some underpaid worker in China holding a glorified pocket calculator.

I was going to do that this year...but we are both upgrading to the 5S this year (she has a 4S now and I upgraded last year) so want to keep the extra line to be ready for the 6 next year. Then we can stagger.

Second this! If Apple don't do retina and non retina MacBook Pro updates or at least announce them tomorrow, they are going to fall behind in the laptop market. What with PCs now featuring the Haswell processor.
