This is probably a bit off topic by now, but earlier in the thread someone linked to a thread about the original iPod, and there was a post in there that left me in awe, considering everything that's happened since then:

"All that hype for an MP3 player? Break-thru digital device? The Reality Distiortion Field™ is starting to warp Steve's mind if he thinks for one second that this thing is gonna take off."

Yeah, someone is eating their words...

I really don't know what to expect anymore. Apple rumors are just crazy. There were like 100 iPod AV fakes, and there was no iPod AV. I think this explains my point better. :p

April 1st?

thats april fools day right maybe its just a joke?...but i dont think apple would do that though.

For it's 30th anniversary, I predict that Apple will introduce...

- A new version of Sherlock with specialized Chinese factory worker writing translation capabilities

- A new version of Aperture that automatically recognizes fake mock-ups

- An official Apple rumor site

- An iRumor Video Store [iRVS] with pay-to-own AND subscription options to download videos of Steve Jobs laughing his a$$ off as he reads the non-official Apple rumor site threads.

:)

Oh yeah, and Apple will also add the date that Apple was founded [April 1st, 1976] to every page on it's website, in the menu bar of every one of it's applications, engrave it on every piece of hardware, and for the truly Mac faithful, an option to have it engraved on their foreheads.

:)

I think that if SJ had been able to negotiate the deals with the movie studios in time for the Feb. 28th event, he would've introduced the new vPod/iPod AV.

I believe it's ready to go, but that the movie content availability is the deal breaker. He won't introduce the new video iPod without movies to offer. Now he has a couple of more weeks to finalize this and really have a HUGE 30th anniversary event with the introduction of the vPod, a movie download service, Intel MacBooks, possibly the MacPod/MacPad [clipboard sized pda/tablet hybrid] and still have time to talk about Apple's 30 year history.

Even if the other studios pull a "Madonna" and don't offer their content on the new movie store at first, I think Steve will just launch with Disney and Disney owned studios [Pixar, Touchstone, Castle Rock, etc.] content. Just like they launched iTMS with only 200,000 songs and the television episode option with only 3 shows. Look how quickly every jumped on those bandwagons.

That'll light the fire under the other guys' behinds to jump onboard or be left behind. :D

Don't forget that the Feb 28th event felt like it was cut short [it was only 40-45 minutes], it probably would have been at least an hour. I doubt that SJ and Apple would've invited the press to an event if they knew that they were only going to introduce the iPod HiFi and Intel Mac Mini's.

I think that 20 minutes would've been plenty of time to introduce the new video iPod and an iMovie Video Store.

I'm also expecting a new, powerful television commercial and ad campaign like the Macs original "1984". This one will probably talk about how Apple's Macintosh computers popularized the mouse back then, but that now it's time for a new way to interact with technology: Multi-touch point input.

BAM!!! Intro the video iPod and the MacPod/MacPad!:D

More proof of an Apple Movie Service

[from the writer of the article linked below]

"UPDATE: I got a call from Tom Southwick, senior vice president of communicaions for Starz Entertainment. He tells me that it was Starz that commissioned the survey mentioned above, because it is interested in having Apple become a partner for its new Vongo movie download service. He says there have been some talks, but Apple still seems committed to its a la carte approach."

No Announcement the 28th

Apple usually sends out invites a week before the event. I think we can safely rule out the 28th. Here is hoping for invitations next week. Also, did anyone see that either sony or samsung rolled out 20'' lcd tv's with integrated computers earlier today?

Interesting that Hollywood has now agreed to start offering movies for download

Now I am not predicting that the video ipod is coming out Tuesday, but.....

not likely. According the Financial Times, Microsoft is the big winner in this deal - "The new service represents a potential coup for Microsoft. Its Windows Media format will be the technical standard for Movielink."
Looks like Apple may be left out of this one...and this is a huge deal, considering the studios that have signed on.
