I think this could very well happen, along with the iTunes Movie Store. I don't know about announcing it on a Saturday, though... perhaps the Tuesday before or after it? Only time will tell. :)

I agree that it won't be on a Saturday but in the end why not? If they were available in stores that same day how many people would RUN to the nearest Apple store and buy one? Then again, how many REAL pictures of the thing would be out that Friday or earlier of packaging and all.

The subject is "none," not "images." "Images" is the object of the preposition. That being said, while in American "none" is always singular, in British "none" can be a collective noun, so that in British "none are" is perfectly acceptable grammatically, while in American "none is" is the preferred usage.
I am American and "none is" is not the proper way!! They have this thing here in America called school, and they teach proper grammar there.

They do no such thing! What's the plural of aquarium? If you said aquariums you're incorrect it's aquaria; or of radius? Radii. What pronoun takes the place of X in the following sentance? 'The prisoner was bored, X had nothing to do.' If you said they you're again incorrect. 'They' is plural; 'he/she' is singular as is 'the prisoner.' Both of these incorrect ways are taught in the US as acceptable. </grammer Nazi>

400 to 500 $

That price tag is waaaay steep especially after Microsofts UMPC Origami project. That sh*t is sweet. Ooooh oooh a video iPod.....great. Apple needs a tablet.

Hmmm, I live Georgia, and I was under the impression that a double or quadruple negative like "none ain't" would the correct usage. "None of them images ain't believed to be real at no time no how, no sir," would be a perfect example of a well structured phrase.

A two pound brick that won't fit in my pocket, doesn't replace my cell phone, iPod or DS and gets 2 hours of battery life. And the absolute cheapest one might be $599. Sweet indeed.

But I digress... ;)

Language evolves, let's move on.

While I can't wait for the eventual iPod AV, I do hope they come out with some kind of one-time-only product like the 20th Anniversary Mac. Not that I can dream of affording a $10,000 computer, but someone could, and it'd be sweet.

Was the 20th Anniversary Mac really 10 grand? Sorry I don't recall but I was still living in the Windows world back then... Although I wasn't a huge fan of Macs until OSX, and more notably Jaguar and Panther. Anyways, for that amount of money it would have to be a dual processor quad-core woodcrest Mac Pro with 4 gigs of ram, 512 video card, and 30" ACD, wireless keyboard and newly released wireless mighty mouse included. Although since those odds are very unlikely, I don't know what in the world could warrent a 10 grand price tag...

...Wait! I take that back. Remember those 42" and 50" Plasma's with iMac like computers built in? Maybe a 50" Plasma with PowerMac or XServe like stats to it would warrent the 10 G's, but even with Plasma prices dropping it be a tough call... Might want to up the ante to a 60" Plasma Quad-Core just to be safe;)

Oh where's Crazy O'Grady (as I call him) when you need him? He's the master of April Fool's jokes, even when it's nowhere near April Fool's. Then again he is a fool so I guess it makes sense and I understand... But for his sake, if what I mentioned was release - who'd snag one? More realistically, thanks for reminding me of the rumored-Tablet. I think that will be my far-fetched guess for their 30th Anniversary Computer whether it be a full on 12-14" Tablet iBook type deal or a 7" Origami competitor for all them Newton fans (as long as they don't call it the Ultra-Mobile Mac). But I guess a 4" iPod AV with Touch Screen would probably be more successful regardless, especially with the iPod branding being on it. That branding alone will save the Hi-Fi and make it a success, but those leather cases... Let's just say I'm not holding my breath, that will probably see a Mac like market share, and I'm speaking early 90's Mac like market share...

Oh well, maybe Steve will do the iPod and then say the magic words...
"One more thing..."

that would be good too... maybe well get something with the specs of the low-end iMac but in the casing of the first mac. probably not but i'm just tired and i'm using an imagination that i have.

I completely agree with you---> Apple makes it, it replaces every iPod/DS, gets 5+ hours of battery life, can fit in your pocket and isn't a brick. They need to get on the ball because I'm just tired of more iPod this, more iPod that. Soon their iPod glory will run dry.

Come on Apple, you can do better than that. Last decade you had a Mac so how about a 30th Aniversary Mac with an Athlon 64 X2 4800+.

(I can dream :p)

*If* the movie store one day opens...

It's interesting to see if the movie store is only available in the US, or will the other iTunes Music Stores also include full-lenght movies.

I think the success of the video iPod depends on the availability of the movie download service. Here in Finland the iTMS still doesn't include any music videos or tv-shows. I wouldn't buy a video iPod if I can't buy any videos for it. It's different case in music.

"Ok, we have shown you some fun new products. You have seen the iPod AV, macTabPro and nano AV. But, there is one more thing..."

(this is the moment where the audience goes crazy)

"Every iPod is now shipping with a Live Preview of Mac OS X Anniversary Edition for any Intel and AMD. If you like it you can buy your OS X license in the iTunes music store and upgrade your live preview to a full working OS X. Meaning we're basically shipping OS X with every iPod now. So, you can grab your copy of this century's most advanced operating system or wait for vaporware vista to disappoint you..."

I know. Never going to happen. But I would love to see what MS does if Apple were releasing OS X with every iPod. That would be huge...

Even this example is wrong. The 'prisoner were' bored...? It should be 'the prisoners were' or 'the prisoner was'

Thanks; I had 'the prisoners were' then realized that didn't cause the pronoun-anticedent problem so I changed the subject and not the verb.

As far as the possibility of the video iPod goes, I could see Apple introduce it as discrete from the current 5G iPod so that the iPod line consisted of the shuffle, nano, 5G and video iPod. If that is the case, one has to wonder if the new rumored video iPod will cannibalize sales of the 5G.

Maybe Apple will have to drop the price of the 5G to keep it around.

That's kinda how I'm seeing it too. I am soooo hoping that they would give the 5G a boost to 80GB. I'm not really in the market for a "true video iPod", but my 60GB iPod photo is dangerously close to being full...

The irony:

The April 1 video iPod is likely to be real.

Today's March 9 gaming iPod is an April Fool's joke

Well I said it about a month or so ago..if they were to release one it would be on or around their B-day.

As for games...Macaddict recently added a gaming section to it's mag this month..so apparently games are starting to become more popular on Macs now days with the switch to Intel.

I dunno - it seems likely that a video touch screen is the next evolution of the iPod. But, as others have pointed out, there will reach a point of either market saturation or when folks realize that what they really want is an MP3 player, in which case there are tons of options.

However, being optimistic, it would certainly be fun to have the "true video" iPod, especially if it could pick up some more PDA capabilities. I mean, even my old 2G iPod has some sort of calendar function, so it's obvious that Apple's thinking about this a little bit. And, I don't think that everyone needs a PDA as complex as an iPaq, so why not dual-purpose the iPod a little more and take advantage of a touch screen interface? Heck, wireless and/or bluetooth might make it a really neato device. Couple that with the FM-radio plug-in, and you've got something that's not trying to be an AIO cell phone, but is more robust than a basic MP3 player.
