"this side is" but "here are"

It is plural. None are, all are, few are, most are, etc.
I hate it when people criticize spelling and grammar in posts. But when they incorrectly criticize correct grammar, I have to say something. :)
I think BOTH "is" and "are" can be correct with "none"... And isn't "none" derived from "not one?" So "not one are" doesn't work, but "not one is" does :)

Sorry to drag out the O/T.

Actually, it's more video iPod tomfoolery. I'm not sorry :)

lol, I was about to say that.

:D

About the grammar discussion going on here, to whomever is answering to it, you all ain't right.

Yeah, ok, and I could buy alot of broccoli for $400-$500 too but why would I want to?

Steve Jobs: Most video players go for about $800 $900 and more. We're pricing the iPod AV at $499.

....

Steve Jobs: APRIL FOOLS! $299, and it ships...today.
Jobs: So we have the iPod AV and the intel iBook. But there's one more thing...

The iCar.

You mean the MacCar Pro right?

30th Anniversary Mac?

What would entitle a 30th Anniversary Mac rather then the name? I'd be suprised if we get new iMac's, seems to soon... As for the mobile line, I believe in the MacBook (iBook replacements) but don't know if they'd make their 30th Anniversary Machine a portable, let alone one that's weaker then the MacBook that just started shipping a couple week's ago. As for 17" MBP and Mac Pro's (PowerMac replacements) don't see those happening until merom/conroe start rolling out. Maybe woodcrest if they put those in the Xserves (MacServes?) and Mac Pro's. And now that the mini's were just updated what would be the 30th Anniversary Mac? A "special" edition iMac? Special Edition Headless Mac (simply called 'Mac') and being as powerful as a iMac but in a form factor just a bit larger then the Mac Mini, comes with a keyboard/mouse but not a monitor for all those who wish the iMac was headless, and think there needs to be a middle-machine between the Mini and the PowerMacs. Anyone else dare to tell me what kind of specs would be found on a 30th Anniversary Mac. If they did make it a portable I think it would be a 13.3" MacBook Pro (except without that name and called the 30th anniversary Mac instead) and it be like the MacBook Pro's except instead of white like the MacBook/iBook it be silver (black?), backlit keyboard, etc. etc. dual 2.0+ processor and pretty much just a shrunken 15" MBP. But I have no idea, but would love to hear somebody else's idea/thoughts... So have at it!:D

I doubt Apple will release any specific anniversary edition of their products; at most I think they will just show off the new MacBooks (iBook) and hopefully an iPod AV.:D

I think $400-$500 is too much when you can buy a whole computer from dell for the same price (actually cheaper)!

Yeah, and how much was the original iPod?

Oh, yeah, it was $400

Plus, my current iPod, iPod with Video Playback bonus was $400!

I don't see the big deal about $400-$500, for a widescreen full video iPod.

From Dictionary.com:

Usage Note: It is widely asserted that none is equivalent to no one, and hence requires a singular verb and singular pronoun: None of the prisoners was given his soup. It is true that none is etymologically derived from the Old English word n, “one,” but the word has been used as both a singular and a plural noun from Old English onward. The plural usage appears in the King James Bible as well as the works of John Dryden and Edmund Burke and is widespread in the works of respectable writers today. Of course, the singular usage is perfectly acceptable. The choice between a singular or plural verb depends on the desired effect. Both options are acceptable in this sentence: None of the conspirators has (or have) been brought to trial. When none is modified by almost, however, it is difficult to avoid treating the word as a plural: Almost none of the officials were (not was) interviewed by the committee. None can only be plural in its use in sentences such as None but his most loyal supporters believe (not believes) his story.

There's nothing like actually looking things up.

Oh, what a wonderful birthday present to me that would be.

And to think that I could've been born on April 1st. Damn hospital was full that day.

I would underwhelmed if the ipod was the big thing on april 1st. these multitouch ideas we've been seeing are really promising. I can't wait for something like the lemur with out all the infrastructure.

not enough ram or disk

For those prices, I'd expect more that 1 mega-bit of RAM and 120 mega-bit of disk.

Multiply by eight, and make it bytes, and maybe I'll teletype my bank routing info to +1.408.666.6666 and buy one.

Though likely not ready for the 30th Anniversary, I agree that some sort of touchscreen input to augment existing input devices could change the way people use computers. Enough with the stylus already, time for someone to come up with a solution that lets a user reach out and touch the screen as a valid means of inputting information without worrying about damaging it (even the Cinema Displays).

My original iPod was $499 (2nd Gen 20GB).

My girlfriend (now fiancee) got it for me for Christmas. Oh how I remember the looks my family gave me - They just had a really hard time grasping what exactly an iPod was, why it was so expensive, and why I was so damn excited about it!

Now my brother has an iPod and my parents & brother have iMacs! ;)

I think this could very well happen, along with the iTunes Movie Store. I don't know about announcing it on a Saturday, though... perhaps the Tuesday before or after it? Only time will tell. :)
