Apple has yet to release iOS 7 for the iPad, which has led to speculation about what the operating system will look like on a larger screen.

Over the weekend, photos from the iOS 7 simulator in Xcode 5 surfaced, demonstrating how several stock iOS apps might look on Apple's tablet, and now a tipster has directed us to Russia-based YouTube user Rozetked, who has released a video of what he claims is iOS 7 "alpha" running on an iPad.

Rozetked does not explain where the software came from nor how it was installed on the tablet, so there is no proof that the video depicts a bona fide version of iOS 7 running on the iPad rather than an elaborately crafted rendering.

Though the video's legitimacy is questionable, it does offer a clearer picture of what iOS 7 might look like when installed on an iPad. Both the Notification Center and the Control Center appear in appropriate portions to the screen size and the Control Center lacks the Flashlight setting that was found in the simulated screenshots, instead offering iPad-specific options that include just AirDrop and AirPlay.

In comparison, the iPhone Control Center offers a Flashlight along with quick access to the Clock, the Calculator, and the Camera.

In addition to displaying the Notification Center and the Control Center options on the iPad, the video also offers a look at several apps, including Music and Videos. Both folder functionality and 2x app mode are demonstrated as well, and several stock app icons are identical to the iPhone versions.

It is unclear when Apple plans to release iOS 7 on the iPad for developers, having chosen to instead focus its attention on the iPhone version of the operating system for the time being.

(Thanks, Gary!)

On iOS7b1, when the OS crashes and has to respring, it shows the older apple logo, like in the video here.

He did explain that many features compared to the iPhone are not the same and missing features from what I gather that is an iPad 2 so no flashlight option and other bits from what very little Russian I speak.

It does look like the real deal and what is not going to be on the iPad 2

In fact, at one point, a crash displays the iOS 6 Apple loading icon rather than the flatter iOS 7 version, which means it could be an elaborately crafted rendering.

I've actually had a couple of crashes in iOS 7 on my iPod where it would show the iOS 6 Apple logo. It would particularly show when moving things on the Home Screen.

Thanks for that info! I haven't had that particular action occur, but I'll update the post.

A fake for sure IMO. We have already seen a leaked photo of what control centre will look like on iPad and it's not like that! Who created the video has too much time on there hands...

It looks quite real to me. Could be an early Alpha, and the boot Apple logo may have been changed in later builds, who knows…

I do wish the iPad version of iOS would cram more icons into there, don't know, but perhaps an extra column and an extra row would make things look reasonably spaced… Though I guess there's a reason they didn't go with that.

No, actually iOS 7 beta 1 does display the old Apple logo when SpringBoard crashes. The fact that this video includes this quirk of the first beta actually makes it more credible.

battery?

so with all the nifty new animations and flat icons - does actually conserves more battery power???????????? or did i hear wrong at wwdc?

Don't like the new slide to unlock. It's too easy to do it accidentally.

Hope they replace the slide to unlock with a fingerprint scan to unlock.

I think the icon spacing is great as is. I find it "spacious" and calming to use over the more cramped iPhone. It's Steve's Zen aesthetic.

Can you point us to this leaked photo please? Or are you talking about those simulator screenshots?

How is this legit? iOS 7 beta for iPad hasn't been released yet. How does some Russian site get access to it?

What do you mean, "May show" - it's obviously an iPad, and it's obviously running iOS 7, without a doubt. Replace "May show" with "Shows".

Brilliant! My sister is off to Moscow tonight - I'll get her to stop by and pick it up :D
