I'm not sure how many systems are running Windows RT well, that does not look all that appealing because it cannot do enough while Windows Surface Pro looks perfect because it can do so much as long as they give it the power to do so. Looks like they need to work on battery life though, a handful of hours is not going to cut it.

Yea excuse the confusion, but what was your argument for the surface pro? The only real thing I have against it is its price and battery life

You said that Windows on a tablet didn't work. You mentioned nothing about price and battery life. I said that if you want to see how well Windows works on a tablet, try the Surface Pro. You said you didn't need to try it since you read about it and that was enough for you. Not a very convincing argument, IMO.

I think the battery life will increase if they make Surface Pro version 2 with a Haswell processor, much like the increase on the new MBA. I think that they have an excellent product in the Pro and they can make it even better if they stick with it. But we know how Microsoft is and they could announce tomorrow that they are discontinuing it.

But the surface pro is a perfect example of why it doesn't work. Battery life just isn't good enough to put up with the performance windows 8 pro needs. Maybe in a few more years it'll be good but I think microsoft is jumping the gun here. Windows 8 in theory is great for a tablet but trying to give it the performance of a laptop doesn't work on a tablet right now. Windows RT to me is more usable but also too limited. That's why I don't like either of them.

I tend to avoid the first round of any project unless I really wanted it now, since I can wait I am seeing how the Surface 2 will be, sure to fix some battery life issues. One could have an iPad and Surface since they are not really the same type of device aside from being able to touch it. Always been on the fence about a full OS and for the right reasons the Surface Pro is great while other times a to the point iPad would be easier.

No voice trademark?

Seeing (or hearing) as the voice in this commercial is a dead ringer for Siri, I guess the distinctive sound of a voice can't be trademarked, eh?

(If this matter has already been discussed in this thread, I apologize. I did a date-limited forum search for trademark and got no hits.)

I can see the case for owning both. The upcoming iPad will be smaller and lighter while keeping the same size screen, so that will be a nice improvement. The Surface Pro is really a hybrid, but I think the iPad is a better tablet due to its weight and with the new model, it's size too. Maybe the Pro is too much of a niche product and the majority may want to have an iPad and an ultrabook/MBA. The new MBA is pretty enticing.

The Surface Pro may be a niche product or someone that wants a windows ultrabook and feel the pro will be a better fit. The wacom pressure sensitivity for artistic reasons is great for those who want a tablet on the go and that feature yet the amount of people that would want that feature is bound to be much smaller.

I would be looking at the Macbook air if they increased the resolution then I doubt checked the 13" Macbook Pro which is more powerful, and not all that much larger, of course it costs more, good change the Air would as well if they increased the resolution too much.

If the rumors on the iPad 5 are true it does look nice.

If anyone noticed the poking is back firing at them... In all these ads the windows tablet can't speak and the iPad can ... That's what yo can't do with a windows one .. Talk to it!

Zooming, sorry, zooming is not necessary for an ipad, everything is within reachable range..

SD Cards, sorry, sorry you will be when you lose your windows tablet then someone else can easily steal your files... (oh password protection on windows 8 will not allow it... -by some crafts, you can easily enable the admin account and still steal files, while in ipad there is not way around its password encryption)

Multitasking, again, it is not needed in an ipad, the software provides good enough for the need of multitasking.

Now, which tablet will get those annoying viruses??...

Oh the price? again, sorry you get what you paid for, easy as cake...

Can a windows tablet speak? no, too bad... if you dont have an ipad you just dont have an ipad, as simple as that :D

Please Stop Microsoft!

It's pretty sad that they have to use their competitor to gain customers. The most sad part of all is that the iPad has sold more than Microsoft will ever think about selling. You just can't compete with Apple. And wow, zooming out on a home screen, that's not even worth comparing. And if you really need so much storage on a tablet that you have to buy a SD card, then just buy a notebook or at least a netbook!

"I don't need it therefore nobody else does"?

An SD card slot would be incredibly useful in an iPad.

It's obvious why Apple wouldn't allow it, but you don't think it would be a good idea to be able to load some of your apps, or music, or a pile of movies, onto an SD card for a long trip? Or pop the card out of your camera to load up the photos into iPhoto (without the need for the third piece of hardware, the Camera Connection Kit)? Or load up Office documents to read and edit?
OK, I hate SD cards with a passion but what's the problem with the Camera Connection Kit?

More stuff to add would be my guess, at least that would be my issues with it. However since I just use the iPhone and drop box it does not matter to much on a personal level anymore.

Didn't Apple do the same exact type of commercials with Mac vs. PC campaign?

Sorry I had to signup and bitch about these comments because they annoy me.

If you actually watched the adverts they weren't intentionally deceiving the viewer, they demonstrate how the Mac is equal to or better than the PC with a bit of tongue in cheek.

If they had a better product to sell fair enough show why it's better, but the USP of not having a scrolling homepage or a card reader built in is weak, £100 Android tablets have SD Card slots, it's nothing special or an engineering constraint, it's just not there for a reason.

It feels like Microsoft are sales crooks trying to flog you a Rolex, it looks like one but you'll be disappointed once you find out its a cheap imitation.

That's quite funny, but on the other hand quite lame, it's always really petty when companies can't think of anyway to promote their products than criticise their rivals, (something's I believe advertisers aren't allowed to do here in the uk)
As a photographer an SD slot would be very handy, but I suspect we will never see one because it means that apple wouldn't be able to charge an extra 80 quid for a measly extra 16gb storage then!

So Apple run an ad campaign for several years in several languages where they directly compare and ridicule the PC with the Mac and all you fanboys think its hilarious. Now Microsoft release a similar ad and its apparently "tasteless", "desperate", "cringeworthy" and "pretty pathetic" to quote but a few of the comments.

I don't like when any company feels they need to put down another product for their own to look better, but Apple started this a long time ago.

I think this used to be true but it changed about 10 years ago sadly. You see it with cleaner products and all sorts nowadays on TV... and sometimes tech products
