You mean you chose to not spend a $1000 to upgrade to a computer with a better OS with fewer viruses, better build quality, better customer support with a larger accessory base and more consistent day to day operation.

That's fine. Those improvements aren't worth $1000 to everyone.

I personally would rather have a football field made of AstroTurf than have the lawn mower with the biggest engine

I can do so much more with Windows and have so much more control over it, and I'm not computer ignorant so I haven't nor will I be getting any viruses. You have your taste and way of looking at things, and it seems that to you the world revolves around what you think it's good.

This thread is pure magic!

Asking a community of die-hard Mac fans what they think about a Microsoft commercial... ...bashing the iPad. Brilliant!

Now, I'm off to a vegan site asking what they think about bacon for breakfast.

You can buy adaptors for microSD cards to use in a camera or device that takes full-size SD cards.

I dont know this for sure, but I thought the micro SD cards were slower and more expensive than the full size ones.

I thought this commercial was funny. People need to lighten up. Microsoft took a lot of shots from Apple in the past.

And Bill Gates took shots from Steve too. And Apple takes a shot at Windows in most every keynote. It really is comical how hurt some people have gotten over this simple advertisement. It was funny, laugh and move on.

One might argue a real camera uses CF

I was thinking the same thing. My "real" camera uses CF cards. My point and shoot uses SD.

The Prosumer cameras now offer a CF and SD card slot. As you go down the line of DSLR (which I think you are referring to as "real" cameras), you only see SD.

I only see an advantage if you want to throw a bunch of movies for long trips. Other than that, my storage needs have diminished with the availability of iTunes Match, Dropbox, and other cloud-based storage options.

This has to be the worst ad ive ever seen. Oh you can zoom the start page wow so cool. And who the hell actually uses an SD card still? Only about a million other ways to store and transfer things

Zooming the Start screen is a bit gimmicky, but it does let you get a 10,000 foot view, and it makes moving things around a bit easier.

As for the SD card issue, though, that is a legitimate complaint. Not only for people who want to be able to view their pictures from their digital camera, but for anyone who finds that the storage they initially purchased is no longer enough and wish to archive off apps or media they use infrequently.

Cost-wise SD has an advantage as well. Getting the extra 48GB going from the 16GB model to the 64GB model is a $200 difference in price. 48GB worth of storage on SD cards only costs about $30. And they are removable so you can swap them out at will. It wouldn't cost much to carry around your entire music, photo, and movie collection on SD. I'd never try that with native storage.

Yes, Apple does have an SD card adapter for the iPad. But it is really slow, and very limited in what it can do -- pictures only -- no apps, video, or music! Plus you'd have to remember to bring it with you.

In practical terms MicroSD are typically slower, but they don't have to be. The technology between the two is identical. Just a different form factor.

That said, Class 10 MicroSD cards aren't hard to find.

Mind. Blown.

You all just got owned. See below.

If I had the money, I'd buy a camera that supports WiFi photo transfer. If I didn't, I'd buy an Eye-Fi card for my camera that doesn't support it. If I didn't have the money for that I'd buy the SD card adapter unless I could transfer through my computer. And if I didn't have the money for that . . . I'd do without a tablet until I could afford the best experience.

It's this kind of patience and refusal to settle for less that has guided my way past countless crappy products.

You're talking nonsense! There are millions and millions of DSLR cameras on the market, millions sold every year, to millions of photographers, and all utilise SD cards. There are also numerous photo apps and many people that use iPads to load images from cameras via the SD card adaptor ...

Why did they use a completely colorless background for the iPad? What are you trying to pull Microsoft? Trying to make the competition look duller than it actually is??

Yeah. As a pro photographer, I have a couple of cameras that utilize both CF and SD cards simultaneously (Canon 1ds mkii/mk iii) and I'm always shying away from using the sd cards because they generally write at a slower rate than cf cards. The only time I use sd is when I'm shooting portraits or something that isn't moving. I lost count as to how many times I've shot active movement like a wedding or sports event and/or news using the sd card only to shoot a couple of frames before my camera tells me it's busy writing and I have to wait until its done so I can shoot again.

That being said, would an sd card be beneficial for iPhones and iPads? Of course it would. But that's up to apple to decide to implement it in their devices. There are plenty of products that offer that option. Buy those. I'm happy with my iDevices regardless of having an sd slot or not.

Except you can't copy files to iPads via WiFi.

That zoom feature is a classic useless M$oft feature -- can you seriously pick out the correct icons in the midst of all those other nameless, useless blocks?

This is where Apple got smarter when they showed off how the new Photo app CAN ZOOM OUT and it's not a useless M$oft feature because you can tap and hold to zoom in and take a peek at the image your finger is over. Now THAT works!

As for MicroSD -- I'm surprised M$oft didn't include a floppy drive on their tablets.

"I don't need it therefore nobody else does"?

An SD card slot would be incredibly useful in an iPad.

It's obvious why Apple wouldn't allow it, but you don't think it would be a good idea to be able to load some of your apps, or music, or a pile of movies, onto an SD card for a long trip? Or pop the card out of your camera to load up the photos into iPhoto (without the need for the third piece of hardware, the Camera Connection Kit)? Or load up Office documents to read and edit?

Agreed about the SD card.

There is some thruth in this ad. I've bought 2 iPads (1 and 3) and sold them off after about 6 months because they (=iOS) are so limited in daily use.

I was curious about Windows 8, bought a W700 tablet (Windows 8 Pro, no RT) and actually still use it after 6 months because it can do so much more.

I know everyone uses their devices differently, however iPads are too restricted for me.
