Someone posting the O2 CEO's email up here earlier, anyone know it, I can't find it now, am desperate to email the schmuck. My first complaint ever!

Interesting and annoying. Great, so desipte pre-registereing within an hour of the keynote, being there throughout the last 4 weeks in case anything happened, not knowing anything because O2 was silent, it makes no difference because now we have to choose between two risky methods! Either risk the online upgrade (if we can ever get it to work!) and hope it gets delivered on Friday or risk leaving it be and then coming into the shop early on Friday. What's to say that I hold out for the shop only to be told on Friday that they ran out because they sold them all online, or that upgrades are online-only?!

Madness!!! What to do what to do??!!!:(

The online inventory is separate from the store inventory + you have 2 inventory channels, apple and o2.

polite email sent!

dont think it will achieve anything but i wanted to register my disappointment in o2. just because they're the only UK carrier to offer the iPhone shouldn't mean they get away with treating their customers this way.

It is 10 am NZ time, and as expected, the Vodafone site is overloaded

Yep, I can't get anything out of it either. It was obvious this would happen - it's a very silly way for Vodafone to announce plans.

My email

Dear Sir

I am writing to complain about the poor service provided by O2 at the iPhone 3G launch today. As an early adopter I registered my interest as soon as I was able to and was online within half an hour of receiving the text alert this morning.

Whilst I am upset that I have not been able to pre-order the iphone that is not why I am writing to you.

What has angered me is the fact that the system didn't simply say that it was not working, or that there were no more phones, but instead asked me to fill in the same form repeatedly. Even the staff at the call center reassured me that it was just a glitch and to keep applying. I received 9 text codes from yourselves today, and filled the forms in (completely) a good 5 times more than that.

I do not think I have ever complained before, and look to use trusted brands because of a level of quality and service they provide, and rely on that to avoid ever having to complain.

I am certainly not used to the kind of service provided by your company today.

Kind Regards

I dont think mine will do anything either, but i do like the idea of their mail server going down (oh the irony!) with hundreds of emails, even if they dont read them they'll know what its about.

Nz Data Pricing, Apparently

Apple iPhone 3G comes in two models, with 8 GB memory and 16 GB memory. Users will be able to purchase an Apple iPhone with no plan for NZ$979 and NZ$1129 respectively.

Apple iPhone specific plans are available with 250 MB, 500 MB and 1 GB monthly allowancs, with costs of NZ$80, NZ$130 and NZ$250 per month.

Those plans include 600 SMS per month and voice minutes as well: 120, 250 and 600 minutes each plan.

Well here's the NZD Pricing:

8GB iPhone for $199 ($150 USD) on a two-year plan with 1GB of data per month, costing $250 ($188 USD) month. On the same plan the 16GB will sell for $349 ($262 USD).

Vodafone will also sell the iPhone on pre-pay, charing $979 ($737 USD) for the 8GB model and $1129 ($850 USD) for the 16GB model.

All I can say is ouch! I have suddenly changed my mind about getting one. THose data plans are very exorbitant compared to their regular data plans!

Edit: Too quick for me dawnrazor :)

Thanks alot!
I don't get it though. Can't we just buy the iphone on its own and use it on our existing prepay sim?

Bear in mind that you're not forced to use an "iPhone plan". You can use an iPhone on any of Vodafone's plans but you need to purchase the phone outright.

I don't believe you can, but I'll update this post once I've confirmed that.

Edit: "iPhone will not be available on Prepay.

You need to have subscribed to either an iPhone plan or alternatively a standard On account plan (You Choose, talkZone, or Corporate) with a compatible Broadband plan for mobiles."

Booooo!

I also see that Vodafone are offering the White iPhone here in NZ.
I still can't comprehend the cost of the plans, where 3G Broadband Plans here in NZ with Vodafone cost $60/mnth NZD for 3GB of Data, and they want $250/mnth for 1GB with the iPhone? It's rediculous!

That works out to $6000 for the two year period compared to $1440 for the Broadband plan. Yikes!

The outright price of 979 is far and away cheaper then any of their data plans, I'm up for that as its as cheap as getting one from a parallel importer and full legit. I won't be first in line though, this might take some saving up for!

This should be split into two threads. One for the NZ launch, and one for the UK online preorder whining.

After all, for every New Zealander there are 15 Brits, 70 US citizens, 5 Australians, 8 Canadians, and 0.04 Guamians.

I'm feeling outnumbered - except for the Guamians.

Das cold, brah. We Guamanians<-see spelling, just sitting on our beaches, doing no harm to anybody. Why you gotta dis us for still using the string with 2 cups tide to each end for long distance calling.;)
