Blimey! I ordered an upgrade 16g £45 iphone on Monday afternoon, maybe 3pm from the fallout/failure page. Now have just recieved 2 emails and progress report on my02 saying 'in progress'. This has been sent at 21:30pm! Wonders will never cease. Although I can just see a very anxious Friday- waiting...waiting...waiting

Exact thing happened with me!

Too bad I'll be out of the country for 4 weeks from tomorrow (Thursday)! It's gonna be a long painful wait until I can get my hands on it if it does indeed arrive on Friday!

Whatever were you thinking? Er - Re-book. I mean get your priorities in order :D

Haha! I know, serious priority issues going on! At least I'll get to enjoy the app store on my regular old iPhone!

Snap!

I ordered through the fail over page AFTER the notice came up on the main page detailing that they were sold out.

Just received 2 emails confirming my order ! :D

as a few people have pointed out, the key here isn't so much the midnight launch for Kiwis, but general availability of iTunes 7.7 and (probably) firmware 2.0 and the App Store sometime early tomorrow (Thursday) in the states and by mid-afternoon in Europe. It would be a nice treat to be playing with 2.0 by this time tomorrow.

Just got home to check O2 site (no access from work for some reason).....no change......

I had the same thing until about 10 minutes ago - got an email and my status now says 'complete'. Not complete until I hold the damn thing in my hand, but good enough for me!

I think if they've charged your card, they'll have completed the credit checks at least, and someone at O2 told me that that meant it would be delivered friday. I placed my order at 8.20 on monday morning, so it seems quite random the order they're going through them.

Todays update on the O2 site was certainly worth the wait.

Apparently, they're short of iPhones! Well I certainly never saw that coming.

Some stores will be opening early, some not. The ones that aren't opening early will be open at their normal hours - whatever they are.

You might be able to upgrade in an O2 store or a CPW store, or maybe just in O2 stores, or possibly not at all - not entirely sure as there seem to be pages which suggest any or all of the above, and they all link to one another. You'll need ID in an O2 store, but there isn't any info for CPW (you could assume you'll also need ID, but then you also have to assume they'll sell you an upgrade in the first place).

No online ordering - that would be too easy.

Apparently all this is completely unprecedented too - nothing else has ever been supply constrained.

I'm sticking to my plan of not bothering with O2 until they get their act together. If it turns out that I can walk in to a shop and buy one with minimal hassle, I will. If I have to queue, and their online store doesn't start taking orders, I probably won't bother getting one at all. If O2 doesn't want my money I'm more than happy to keep it and/or give it to some other company instead.

Still 'In Progress'

Bummer, still no change in status for me...

Come on O2, this is killing me!

Are NEW orders getting JUST the tracking email and status update on online order OR are they getting a phone call for a credit check also ?

Still nothing. Nada. In Progress.

I ordered at 8.30. Called CS earlier and they said that I should receive an e-mail, but it might not be despatched tomorrow.

So much for first come first served! Gutted...

I just got a call from o2 (Kevin in manchester outbounds), saying that i wasn't eligible for an upgrade until after Oct 11th! I told him that not only was I eligible as an existing o2 customer to an early upgrade but that my existing contract is due for renewal on August 13th. And that not only was i most certainly eligible for an upgrade but the date he was quoting complete bollocks.

He then refered me to customer services (adrian C/S), who verified that I was indeed eligible for an upgrade but had to put me through to the iPhone dept.
Now this guy (John from skypark Glasgow) first off says that I just wasn't eligible for an upgrade blah blah blah and when I quote the website to him he changes tack and says I failed a credit report.

I have impeccable credit history and rate as 'Excellent' with a high point score. He said I would have to write to the credit ref agency and see why I was declined.

Well I wasn't going to wait for a letter so i used their online report check, which confirmed that i have an excellent score/rating and also that I had not been declined by anyone requesting a rating.

Complete and utter crap, just more spin from o2 to delay the demands and complaints from customers whose orders they can't fulfil.

I will wait for physical evidence from Equifax (credit agency o2 used) and file a complaint with ofCom and trading standards.

Has anybody managed to UPGRADE ONLINE in the UK?

O2 claim that the phones they sold on Monday were split 50:50 between new and existing customers. My impression is that they favoured new customers since they already get money out of existing customers...

I heard of a lot of people who bought their phone online on monday but nobody who managed to upgrade.

Any thoughts?

Yes I ordered my phone on Monday online, upgrade at 12:50pm - came today around 9.30 - it's great!

My brother ordered his phone before 9am as a new customer and also got his today.

People visiting the shops were less lucky - my local O2 store only had 3 phones at 8am.
