After many years of contemplating, I finally took the plunge today and purchased an iMac. I have an iPhone and iPad as well.

I have read a ton on this forum and others, and most apple users speak of apple care as a necessity. Why is that? Why do I need it??

3 years fantastic service, need I say more?

But for real, it's best to go for 3 years, you're covered against any issues that are out of your control (not accidental damage) You'll be kicking yourself in 1 year if something happens to it and you have no support, or worse have to pay lots of money to repair it when it could of been fixed by Apple for free. :p
