Newer iPhones Allow You to Measure Someone's Height Instantly — Here's How

Obviously you wouldn’t be using this on a construction project, but if you have a LiDAR scanner the Measure app is actually pretty accurate, and is way more convenient than a tape measure if you need to measure a piece of furniture or see if there’s enough space to fit something somewhere.
every time I've used it on someone it has underestimated their height by 2-3 inches. its a toy.

If you have a device with lidar sensor, then it's dead accurte.

E.g. iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPad Pro 12.9 M2, etc.
It is only available on devices with LiDAR sensor. Lathe only people who think this is accurate is those who use inaccurate units (feet/inches). If you use cm you can see it’s actually not that accurate compared to a tape ruler.

Surprised at how few people find this creepy. Sooner rather than later you'll be able to point your phone at someone and learn a lot more about them than their height, without our consent being considered in the slightest.
What’s creepy about it? Height is not private, everybody can see how tall you are even if they don’t always have an exact figure. What’s next? Considering eye or hair colour private?

He should have said ‘nobody with some sense uses those’ 😉

The sad thing is that with exactly ZERO reinforcement in the States getting an intuitive sense of metric lengths and measures is nearly impossible. We all just naturally think in imperial. But luckily I was in grade school when the Carter administration attempted to make the transition so I understand metric a lot better than people both older and younger than me.
