I love my 2nd gen 4k ATV, but the one feature I want is to be able to tile multiple apps on the screen. Being able to watch on a couple different apps would be awesome.

I use a 3rd generation ATV daily and it just does exactly what it’s meant to do without a single flaw. ATV is in my opinion one of the most underrated Apple products.

I actually tried to use my AppleTV for a FaceTime call yesterday so everyone here could participate in the conversation. When I put my phone under the TV, the other people on the call said all they could hear was the feedback of their audio going from the TV and being caught by my phone (which was right under the soundbar). I wonder if this is a flaw in AppleTV FaceTimes or did I do something wrong?
Try moving your phone as far away from the TV speaker as you can.

If the new one can connect more than 2 BT devices (in addition to the remote), then it's worth upgrading if you use Zwift with the Apple TV.

Apple TV has to be one of the most rock solid products ever, I bought the version released in 2015 and used it for 9 years. Finally upgraded to the 4K one last year and gave my 2015 one to my parents. Still works flawlessly.
I suspect there was no reason to build in obsolescence since most of the income from the device the content it delivers. It's in their interest to deliver a device that can be updated and continue to work as long as possible.

The camera is clearly meant to be a peripheral. Apple did buy PrimeSense, the company that built the Xbox Kinect to develop it into the FaceID scanner.

If put money on them building the gesture interface for the Vision Pro. Why not condense that down to a peripheral and get some enterprising devs to build some games?

I’m genuinely interested in this new AppleTV. I have an old one that I sometimes use that’s from 2012 lol. So I think whenever this releases, I will be buying

We have newly renovated area that is in need of an ATV. As soon as a new one is available, that day one purchase will complete the renovation. LFG!

Would be nice to have Safari. Apple refuses to allow The Roku Channel on ATV.
I suppose Apple doesn't want people to subscribe to other channels on Roku.
But you can do the same thing with Amazon channels.
The Internet Archive requires a web browser.
Everything I need can be done with a Roku device.
I can't see the value in a camera in ATV.
A microphone, a natural add-on, might be foolish too.
A new ATV would go great with a shiny new A16 iPad.
My iPad 7 needs refreshing but my ATV 4K 2nd gen does not really.
A better remote would totally rock!
Love the rechargeable feature but Roku has that now, even USB-C.

Put a small amount of energy and effort into making it a legitimate gaming platform.
Apple could build the hardware now, to compete with PS5 or Xbox Series X. The two problems are, (1) that would raise the cost for everyone (thus lowering sales) for a feature only a few would use, and (2) the problem isn't the hardware, the problem is attracting AAA game developers to the platform.

Apple has historically done a "Lucy with the football" trick a bunch of times, saying, "no, we're going to support gaming and this time we really mean it", only to get distracted by something else 3-6 months later and wander off, so getting game developers to commit to Apple's platform is going to require Apple to prove that they are committed to it as a gaming platform, for the long run.

Would love to pick one up if I could watch OTA with it. How do you guys watch OTA? Are you using Silicon Dust, or Tablo? Something else? I'm dying to live on the ATV platform and stay out of the horrendous LG operating system.
