I read something about reduced colour range at 60hz and full colour range only available at 30hz due to some issue with the display connection standard?
It uses DisplayPort 1.2 HBR2 — there’s not enough bandwidth for 10 bpc at full resolution and 60 Hz, but 10 bpc at 3600×2400 and 60 Hz should work. The MateView’s EDID includes this mode but you can’t force a specific bit depth on macOS AFAIK.

So does that mean it will only do full native res @ 30hz, or can you somehow enable a lower to depth to force 60hz?
It will do full rez at 60 Hz and 8 bpc via DisplayPort and USB-C. HDMI 2.0 gives you 50 Hz at full rez and 8 bpc.

It just sucks a bit because I have to squeeze a bit sometimes lol
Holding Alt/Option while clicking Scaled may show additional modes between 1920×1280 (default/larger text) and 2560×1707 (what you’re using). I like 2304×1536 when I want stuff to be slightly larger.

I'll give it a try at 2304x1536 :)

I just received this monitor and I love it so far. Thought that I would compromise sharpness when using a scaled resolution, but it isn't the case. I'm using 2304x1536 in HiDPI and it looks just super good. The scaling on this one is somehow superior in terms of the actual display presentation compared to my Dell 4k display which runs at 1920x HiDPI.

Currently the MateView is connected through USB-C as I don't have an adapter to connect through DisplayPort.
What is the best connection type in terms of color quality for this display and how can I turn on HDR? I don't see the option in the preferences. In an YouTube Video I saw how one could activate it for this very same display through preferences.

A must have tool: MonitorControl App
It lets you control brightness & speaker (of the display itself!) volume through your mac keyboard.

Thanks for sharing go onto settings and activate it! I noticed that HDR isn't working on Netflix but it's normal since they removed the feature back in Monterey Beta due to a bug.

Anyhow it works great in Youtube, not at the Mini-LED or the OLED level but it does it's job! Personally for me I'll eventually upgrade to Apple own displays if they eventually release it

What are you using for switching the resolution?

I'm also using 2304x1536 in HIDPI, it's the best setting!

Unfortunately, I don't have the option to turn on HDR. Do I need another connection type?

I just installied SwitchResX in hope to change the resolutions via shortcuts quickly. I have to learn that tool first.

Which Mac are you using? Both my monitors one connected via TB3 and the other via directly USB-C shows the option to use HDR as I have shown you in the print above.. @Amethyst1 can probably give a hand as well!

So you used the USB-C to USB-C cable to connect it directly to your mac right? This is not working for me. I'm using a MacBook Pro from 2018. Going to upgrade soon to 16" M1 Max.
I'm thinking to get a mini displayport to USB-C cable to try displayport connection type to get HDR working, what do you think?

Yeah you could try that or USB-C to HDMI as well! But the way you discussing is fine I have a couple of USB-C to Mini Display Port and it does work fine! I'm not sure if the 2018 supports HDR... but technically there shouldn't be any issue...

Hi guys! I confirm that I can use 2 Mateview at 60hz, also in HDR if needed, at the maximum resolution but I use them at 2570x1707 px, connected to only one port usb c of the macbook pro (M1 max) through Caldigit Element Hub TB4.
The monitors are connected to the hub through USB-c

The MacBook Pro m1 max can be recharged through the Caldigit hub without his power supply.

The monitors looks amazing, for the price.. especially when they are in promotion, they are highly recommended!
