I nearly bought a 13 inch i5 MacBook Pro today but held off because of potential refreshes. What worries me though is that the non-retina model might be discontinued. I want this model because of easy upgradability - I could install more RAM and an SSD in the future.

The SuperDrive would be handy although I wouldn't worry too much if it was dropped - the upgradability is key for me.

But, given that the only model available later in the year might by a Retina version, should I buy now or wait?

Refurbs will be around even if they do ditch the 13" cMBP in the refresh (which I doubt will happen being one of the main sellers). I wouldn't expect a refresh until late this year though... probably announced after the BTS sale ends.

Thanks!

It's not the CPU performance thats the problem, it's the underwhelming 5100 gpu, they should've went with the 5200 which is a beast and could've easily fit in the current rMBP while getting about 2 hour battery boost because of haswell and maverick.

How do you know that this is the final product you never now plus this is probably just a protoype is not "official" if this is going to be the real thing it might be faster then this one or slower or the same we will know when the release it.
