They said we won't see new iPads in this event. Yet there were.

They said the Apple Watch will have a new design. It didn't.

They said they will announce the new Airpods 3. They didn't.

So many inaccurate rumors this year...

I think Apple may have fed leakers inaccurate info to flush out who internally is leaking the information. If they give someone bogus information then it's posted on Twitter a few days later, you just ID'd the culprit.

Indeed, mostly MR went with dodgy guesses from people who had no clue nor credibility. BTW, they also predicted no iPad announcement yesterday, that the iPads would have a later event perhaps in October. They got that wrong too. Heck, anyone who knows the recent history of Apple and their events could have gotten most of the predictions correct just by using common sense and past history. Anyone who knows Apple's history could have guessed there would be no innovative new designs announced for anything, only incremental updates to iPhones, iPads, Watches, etc., only incremental and mostly marketing BS about camera updates, and they would have been correct. The only real surprise by Apple was the upgrade of the iPad mini so quickly after the release of the iPad mini 5. Other than that, it was business as usual for Apple, the company of incremental updates. And it was business as usual for the guessers, showing that is all they are, and not even good at it either. The so-called reliable sources MR uses were mostly wrong, and of course the guessers were even more wrong.

They might have decided that airpods have substantial market overlap with the low end iOS devices launched yesterday and if people were considering getting AirPods and a new iPad or iPhone 13 at the same time they might not spring for the cellular or storage upgrades. By spacing them out over multiple paychecks people will feel comfortable paying more for each item.

Ugh I really need new AirPods and was hoping for these yesterday. My first gens are on their last legs. I use them all the time for work calls and they barely last for a 1 hour work call these days...

New AirPods could be its own media event. A press release. I would like to see the new AirPods Pro.

Perhaps the Mac event next month will open with a HomePod / AirPod announcement to show them off? Maybe with a surprise "HomePod pro" with a bunch of ports or an obnoxious "HomePod go" with a battery that lets you take it round the house and *ugh* annoy people on the train.

These are just random thoughts, nothing serious.

Also when does the back-to-school offer end? The day after could be when they announce new AirPods.

Every single set of AirPods since original have announced via press release. Even the AirPods Pro. Why would AirPods 3 be any different?

I cannot believe how successful AirPods are given their price bracket. But then again, I use headphones as headphones only, so my viewpoint is limited.

I just can't bring myself to pay over $100 for an "occasional use" device.

Still, what exactly are people looking forward to/expecting with new AirPods? I mean, aside from iterative stuff like better battery life, faster charging, or something like that?

I hope this is true. I want to get AirPods this fall and I don’t want to buy the current model if these are about to be released. I was surprised they didn’t make an appearance in the event yesterday.

The inconsistency is all over the place this year. No idea what is happening.
Apple trying to find leaker by making up fake product developments.

Person A gets fake info about product A using fake specs A
Person B gets fake info about product A using fake specs B
Person C gets fake info about product A using fake specs C

Person D gets fake info about product B using fake specs A
Person E gets fake info about product B using fake specs B

etc.

Then see who leaks what.

The only thing I was looking forward to. Need them for wfh and taking calls. In-ears aren’t comfortable for me to wear all day. I feel like buying knock-offs now tbh.

as with any war, misinformation is the best way to win battles

we may or may not launch a massive air strike using 120 bombers against the Taliban on a Tuesday or maybe not on a Saturday, but who know...

UGH!!! Hurry up already. My first-gen AirPods are barely hanging by a thread. This was the one thing I was anticipating the most yesterday.
I know we are all different, but you’d rather pay for these than $179 for AirPod pros? Seems like the pros offer much more for a price right in the middle of the estimated pricing for airpods 3.

I think you’ve got it here: Tim Apple’s not going to volunteer his newest perfect-stocking-stuffer for free or deep discount on launch. Guess we’ll have to wait for October.

Remember when Tim Apple announced that Apple would be "doubling down on leakers"? Looks like that work is showing dividends now...

The AirPods Pro didn't have an event though, right? Maybe they'll just appear on the website one day soon.
Correct. They announced it with this video, then it showed up on their site ->

If Apple didn’t consider their flagship AirPod Pros important enough to talk about at their events, not sure why people were expecting an announcement for the budget friendly Airpods 3 yesterday.

Is anyone else getting really tired of the BS this site posts day in, day out. It was once a fountain of knowledge - now a pit of sludge you need to wade through to find (if possible) any decent knowledge and truths...

Yeah, I do. I actually gave the Pros a try but wasn't a fan of the in-ear experience. I do prefer that when I'm out running or working out (I have earbuds just for that) but for my regular AirPod use I prefer the non-Pro design and feel.
