Next-Generation iPad and iPad Mini Rumored for March Launch

I ordered an iPad Mini with my new iMac 27", still waiting for them. (Ordered Dec 4th)
I'm thinking of returning the mini upon his arrival.
What do you guys think ?

I dont want to buy an ipad mini now, (still waiting for it, maybe arrives late january) and then 2 months later a new version coming out.

Kinda sucks.

There just milking people for there money i have just got my ipad 4 about 6 weeks ago and now its going to be outdated by apples new ipads its just getting to much and to stupid to keep realising new ipads with out any major change so what ipad 4 is twice as fast as ipad 3 it doesnt matter no app uses all of the ipad 4 processor power.

If no app uses all of the iPad 4’s processing power, why do you feel you need to upgrade to it? ;)

they will lose so many customers if they keep releasing ipads every 5-6 months until now you knew your device would atleast be the newest for atleast 1 year.... now this just sucks

I bet they won't lose many at all. This is a smart move for Apple business wise. They stay on top and keep the competition at a high level. Joe Consumer is used to things changing quickly.

Put retina on the ipad mini and I will buy!! That's wht I'm waiting for . I sold my regular ipad to buy the mini ( so I'm pad less at the moment) . But I'm waiting for 2nd gen ipad mini

They're* their* too* too* releasing* without* and cry me a river, no one forced you to get the lame update that was the iPad 4th gen.

I would return it, just in case.

If they're milking anyone, they are just suckers. Just because they release a new one every 3,6,9 or 12 months, it doesn't mean you have to buy every single one. Car manufactorers release updated cars every year of the same model, do you buy a new car every year?

The cellular ipad mini was only released at the start of December, and it's still a 2 week wait until shipping on apple.com. Yet they are now proposing to release the ipad mini 2 in 2 months time? Even the ipad 4 cellular was only released at the end of November! Updates this quick will kill momentum, not help it.

Crazy

Thank you. I was sitting on my hands to stop myself from writing something similar. :)

Apple has 3-4 years left where tablet developments are very dynamic--more processing power, decreasing weight and size, etc. Then what? Presumably the tablet market will flatten out like the laptop market. If tablets hadn't exploded on the scene in 2010, the computer industry would be in free fall. I think this is whats putting downward pressure on the stock. Something new may come along...tablets certainly looked like an unlikely hot technology in 2005.

In terms of ipad 4, everyone could see this was just a placeholder release. The mini had just redefined the form factor and it was natural the ipad would follow suit. I'm betting there will be at least one non retina ipad in the line after march, and it wont be the ipad 2

So you think Apple will just slap a A6 in there and call it a day? I think the only people who will be disappointed on the day the next gen iPad mini gets released, be it in March or over the summer, will first-gen iPad mini owners.

I think they will do nothing or minor upgrades like the CPU as you suggested or perhaps .ac wireless (which would be great) or other.

I just don't see how they will be able to maintain the price point with a screen which would arguably be more expensive to produce than that of the regular iPad. On top of that for the budget version of the two.

Why do people get so upset? Frankly your either crazy, have too much money or are a serious fan if you willingly drop $500 every 6 months for no reason.
The only thing Apple can do that is right in March is give the Mini a Retina screen and A6 SOC and then make the full iPad lighter, it doesn't really need to be thinner IMO.

The 27" iMac I got last July was rendered 'old' in the October Keynote barely three months later but it will still do the tasks for which I bought it for many years to come.

If you always hold out for the latest tech, you'll never upgrade.

I bought the iPad 4 because it had LTE. That was worth the upgrade price alone. Same reason I upgraded my iPhone 4S to a 5.

Yeah baby …. give me retina II on an oled display! I want sharper than sharp!!! ….just kidding…lol Apple's got to stay on top ya know. Things are moving so fast I'm tripping over my own 2 feet….

We'll see what happens. There are a lot of people hoping for a retina mini to show up sooner rather than later, myself included. We all know it will happen. We also know that the first gen iPad mini is destined to become the budget iPad in 2013 ($229-249???), which will make room for a retina iPad mini, perhaps at a slightly higher price point.
