So glad they are adding space grey to ipad mini!!! I think its a really cool color, looks slicker and more upscale compared to slate, not to mention it should be much more resistant against scratches and chipping!

Man, I can't wait to get rid of my iPad 2 one of these little guys!

I think in general the average consumer will like the grey better than the black too. I personally loved the slate but I could see some people thinking its just too dark, too stealth fighter jet for them :D that's what I loved about it though: so stealthy looking.

Where has this irritating "easier to make" meme come from? When has Apple ever done anything because it's easier? Stamping out cheap Toshiba plastic laptop cases is a lot "easier" than aluminium MacBooks, do you think they'll switch back to that?

I am sure Apple makes cost/quality/difficulty analyses daily. There is no shame in taking the easier route if you also feel that it will produce something greater than or equal to what you previously did. Early scratch tests show these new finishes hold up much better than last year's. It's very possible that it was "easier" to achieve this with the current color lineup.

I wish I'd see more leaks/confirmation regarding whether or not the new iPad 5th gen (9.7") will have Touch ID. I would love to have this on my new iPad.
But if they are really having production issues and are in short supply for the 5S, I could also see it being put off..

Has anyone seen or heard any solid rumors?

So I suppose the full size iPad will get TouchID and the mini won't? The mini will probably be to the iPad what the 5c is to the 5s, the 1 generation older processor without the new signature feature iPad. But retina display was last year's (or 2 years ago) signature feature, so that hopefully that will make the cut for the new mini.

I'll be honest, I stick with MacRumors because I really, really dislike 9to5Mac's web-site. It's horrible to look at. So I have accepted getting news a little later.

I get that. Thats exactly how I feel about AppleInsider. Its FILLED with ads.

So what?

As for the iPad, I prefer the white/silver one.

I've gata stay on top of things my friend.

I guess you can't have it all..... iPad Mini Retina in Slate no more...

I'm ok with Space Grey.

Yes it looked awesome but have you seen how badly some of the iPhone 5 scratches were? Pretty bad. I'd like to not have to baby my iPad. My iPad 2 from 2-1/2 years ago doesn't have a single scratch on the back.

But those horrible bezels :p

The bezels were an issue for about 5 minutes. I've had the thing so long now I don't even notice. Unrelated curiosity. Outside of just taking a hammer to it, or "Kill it with fire", my iPad2 just will not die. Normal use and wear and tear does nothing. Anyone else have that issue? I know... first world right.

I prefer the current black! And the black iPad Mini doesn't have the color chipping issues of the iPhone 5!

I'm not a fan of the Space Gray. It's too gray... Slate was beautiful. Dark, with a hint of cool tones. I'm looking at the white 5S for my update now.

Wonder if the next MBP will be in Space Grey? Why not look at the new Mac Pro. That would nice.
