Sure.

1. Retina Display would put the cost of this thing to more than $1000. I suggest a higher resolution but not a retina display. These reports specifically say Retina Display and that's why I felt I caught the bluff.

2. USB: I know Apple loves (or loved) USB but they know that they have better solutions. USB is going to help a lot of people but I don't think Apple is one of those who put things just to satisfy the consumers. After one year (hypo.), if there are better solutions to USB, Apple would not be in a good state to axe out the port and and the architecture. I don't think Apple will do that.

3. With the iPhone in place, android in action and harmony among people :D, Apple will plan out a mass release for iPad 2. It cannot be exclusive to the US for 3 months. A couple of weeks is fine but 3 months (1/4th of a year) is a veryrisky period.

So what will you do if these rumors are indeed correct? You will feel and look a bit silly i'd imagine. I think you best off not saying such a definite statement when anything could happen, especially on these forums. Once you look silly, you will continue to look silly in the future for anything you say lol. Hopes to your predictions for the sake of your reputation though.

My money is on a 1920x1440 display. That would allow it to display full HD at native res, as well as allowing pixel doubling of iPhone 4 apps.

This would bring future iPad and iPhone artwork closer together. Artwork from the iPad2 would just need to be reduced by 50% (and cropped a little to widescreen) which would keep the graphics sharp for the iPhone4. This means less work for the developers and an affordable screen, which is still higher res than 'Full 1080p HD'... I think the marketing team will be happy with that.

1. I don't know how many times it must be said before thick-headed clowns like you get it... but retina-display does NOT mean 326 ppi. Instead, it means enough pixel density that you cannot distinguish individual pixels at standard-use distances rom the screen (and Apple decides what standard-use distances are). Stated another way, its so much pixel density that its pointless to further increase pixel density. So, yes, iPad 2 will get a retina display.

I understand that. I am sorry but unlike you, I don't stay on all the forums all the time. Apple did impress upon resolution matching that of an eye but I truly understand what you mean.

If retina display is just another term for higher resolution, then fine, I agree.

2. iPad 2 will also get USB if only to comply with recent changes in European law (which Apple and others helped craft). That law required all cell phones to have a common charging system (so there would not be a proliferation of different chargers) and it was agreed this would be based on USB. Now it can be argued that iPad is not a cell phone (and I'm not sure precisely what devices the European law pertains to) but it makes sense for Apple to make iPad comply even if it doesn't need to. This does not mean the USB port will be good for anything more than charging the iPad, but it probably will be; and I'd bet on Apple using mini-USB (or something similar) as well.

Again, I am not one of those analysists but it is possible and I'll be fine with it but with Apple it would make sense imo.

Haha.

Ok. I am not making any claims like these people. I may very well be wrong on all of those points but that was just my understanding. And I can be wrong simple.

I do think when the 2G iPad arrives, there will be at least these changes:

1) The A4 processing will be faster, and may use an improved GPU section to handle 720p video better.
2) System RAM will be 512 MB, possibly 1 GB if Apple can get decent pricing.
3) Touchscreen display resolution will be either 1280x768 or 1280x960, depending how well Apple can get these higher-resolution touchscreens at a reasonable price.
4) It will have a distinctive speaker "grill" on the lower left of the case when you look at it from the back.
5) It will sport the same cameras as the 4G iPod touch--lower resolution in front for FaceTime use, higher resolution in back for still pictures and 720p video.
6) May include an SD memory card slot.
7) Will include iPod dock connector to Mini USB connector adapter to comply with new European regulations on charging devices through Mini USB port.

Ahh... so, since a USB can supply 1.5 amps while communicating (more if not communicating), that means USB can supply enough power to recharge the iPad's battery. Correct???

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus#Power

You might want to read the article you linked. It clearly states: "A unit load is defined as 100 mA in USB 2.0, and was raised to 150 mA in USB 3.0. A maximum of 5 unit loads (500 mA) can be drawn from a port in USB 2.0, which was raised to 6 (900 mA) in USB 3.0." Which means that at best, USB 2 can charge the iPad when NOT communicating, but even then, only barely and only if there is no other peripheral tied to that same buss.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8C148)

No SD card slot?
SD or any other memory card expansion slots would offer too many advantages for the customer.

They would also give up Apples control, violating the lock down rules of the kingdom.

Current ipad doing quite well still:

"The Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad continues to cut into PC sales, with IDC claiming it helped slice growth for PCs, from an expected 5.5 percent to 2.7 percent in fourth quarter worldwide shipments.

IDC’s research director David Daoud said, “Growth steadily slowed throughout 2010 as weakening demand and competition from the Apple iPad constrained PC shipments.”

Unlike some people I'm actually starting to like the design of the upcoming iPad. I'm also excited about engadget report that says the next iPad will not have a usb slot but an SD one! Finally the ability to add more storage. I'm excited if this is true.

Crap. I thought new macbooks were coming out in April. And now with rumors of the iPhone 5 being released at WWDC, people waiting for macbooks refresh are screwed.
