I have tested - 7 hours talk time or 7 hours browsing or 9 hours video beats most other smartphones? Even the much bigger s3 but not the galaxy note. well you could put a car battery in there.

My S3 beats my 4S at roughly 2:1 - the 4S has the worst battery of all iPhones

After reading this....If this is true, i dont think Apple will even have LTE in their next phone. Think about it, Apple only really has so many key features every year that they promote.

Last year was icloud, imessage, and siri.

This year will be maps, Larger screen. nfc or lte.

I can almost guarantee the new iphone wont have lte and nfc in the phone. It'll be one or the other.

I don't mind - Singapore's upcoming 4G network won't even be compatible anyways. :p

Mad. I'm not going to ask you again but you're simply going to have to stop approaching this from a rational standpoint. You must apply a self administered "Reality Distortion Field" here where in your bubble the only way to improve something is to make it bigger. Please don't make me have to publicly address you about this again! ;)

Mea culpa.

Okay. I will give it a try:

WAAAAHHHH! Look at this tinzy winzy battery! Heck, that new integrated display technology will probably not save any energy - can't trust them telling us - same with that new LTE chip! And then this new nanoSIM! Heck, that one needs a nuclear power plant itself! How can we run a phone with the energy need of a midsized metropole with a battery power of a leaking button cell? Strap your tinfoil hats tighter and follow me to the Capitol Infinity Loop! No, wait, I am afraid of too many people. Lets meet on Facetime instead! No, wait, I don't want to give out my information to the hackerz... how about we troll complain in forums accordingly?

....or just wait until September 12th. Prepare your water spray bottles. You have to moisturize your mouth because you might get stuck during the jaw-dropping presentation. Can't wait. :D

I was thinking the same. I wouldn't go as far as to guarantee though:D

Well it would seem the whole phone is a marginal upgrade

Surprise ...It's taller

LTE, possibly NFC, a higher resolution, faster processor, unibody design, and more RAM are a "marginal upgrade"? By that measure, the Galaxy S3 was a "marginal upgrade" over the S2. We're a couple years away from flexible screens, etc. becoming feasible. Until then, this is the kind of thing we'll see.

----------

I can't think of a single example and I've followed Apple for a while. We have had stories about them feeding misleading information to parts of the supply chain to see if that information ends up in the press (they might tell a supplier that they have plans to launch an X in Q2 and then, if such a story appears in the press, they'll know that supplier has been spouting off) but I can't remember a single time when Apple has actually built fake prototypes and leaked them to websites to confuse people.

What about the "iPhone 5" rumors from last year? Perhaps Apple was behind some of those leaks.

Our own tests when testing our apps came in very similar. So dunno what you have done to screw up your phone... I know that I've always have battery sap issues from the Skype app on the iPhone. But unless you manage your apps carefully on the S3 you can half that easily.

Genuinely I don't have a problem at all. You might have a Dud - Sell millions something is going to be wrong with a percentage?

I know you only ever hear about people complaining about battery life, but psychologically people only moan, post or whatever when there is something wrong. You aren't going to see many post from people that are happy as they are busy, well, being happy. I know I am the first to complain if there is an issue!

apple wouldnt release something that does worse battery wise than the 4s...
also they wouldnt put a huge battery in the phone now and get 10 hours out of it like an iPad because the following year when they upgrade the phone they need to keep similar battery power(and might be impossible). The battery wont be much better than a 4s from now on i believe. might be as good as a 4 this time around and im fine with that.

I think this report more or less has formed my path for me. If the new iPhone has a battery life equal to or worse than the 4S I'm moving on. If it's at least a little bit better I'll probably stick around.

The iPhone 4 was the most amazing battery I ever had on a phone, the 4S has been the worst for me. I understand the experience is very different depending on the user, but no matter what I do the battery on my 4S just drains and drains.

Exactly...the iphone is such a popular phone across the world!! Why would they input lte if it'll only benefit the US really. I hate to say but people will buy anyways! i read an article that most people with iphones thought it was 4g anyways lol.

If they use the IGZO display from Sharp, which consumes much less power than silicon-based IPS, we may see a boost in battery life, even with faster processor, LTE and larger display. Although no leaks about this, I think this is quite possible.

The new chip should be 32nm, whether Coretex-A9 or A15. I think a dual core A15 with higher frequency (<2GHz) and 32nm would be nice. The graphics in the A5X chip was intended for the retina display in the new iPad, I don't think it will be used for iPhone

My girlfriends 4S eats the battery compared to my 4, it would suck if the iPhone 5's battery can't even compare to either of them AND has 4G on top of it. It'd be disappointing if the phone can't even last a full day without needing to be charged =/

Yet they have it in their iPad. I don't know of any logical reason why they wouldn't have LTE

The same reason siri was on the 4s but not on the new iPad??? Just because the iPad has a feature doesn't mean the iphone will have it and vise versa.

Folks

IGZO is not being used on the iPhone. They are rumored to be using In-Cell IPS displays but they are not rumored to be IGZO but rather LTPS (which is what the current iPhone uses)

LTPS is more expensive but a proven high volume tech.

There is to consider that the iPhone still use 45nm technology for its processor while the Galaxy has a 28nm.

The LTE chip in the new iPad was an engeering tradeoff.
They won't use the same LTE chip in the iPhone, which probably will support both LTE-FDD and LTE-TDD.

No. The reason for no Siri on the iPhone 4 was a political one versus a technical one.

There is no technical reason for not having LTE in the next iPhone

That Gobi chip supports everything under the sun. They could use it on T-Mobile, China Mobile and all the other odd standards out there.

Anyway, as you said, they are just "rumored". The problem with IGZO might be the lower yield, considering the high demand for iPhone

Wrong. The 4S has an additional microphone to neutralize background noises and get a better reading on a person's voice. I have Siri on my iPHone 4 and it blows because my phone can't hear me correctly half the time.

i read an article that most people with iphones thought it was 4g anyways lol.

well a lot of people think that because if you're on ATT and have a strong signal it SAYS "4G" next to your bars. People have every right to be confused by that. Those of use on here know better, but the average shopper would just take that 4G logo literally and assume that's what is going on.

The switch to Sharp and Foxconn buying a large share of them does raise an eyebrow though. Could they only go to sharp for In-Cell? I doubt it.

Who said anything about the iPhone 4? Read my question again. Why doesn't the new iPad have siri when the iphone 4s had it?
