It has been working flawlessly for me as well, when I actually get the chance to use it.
Most often the stores around here in central PA, are using old enough POS registers or Pin Pads that can't even do NFC type payments. The ones that do, perfectly registers every time and are typically McDonalds or Subway.

As more stores update their hardware to accept NFC this will be a very common practice of using Apple Pay by many consumers and I love the convenience.

I'm actually shocked that somebody considers Apple Pay the primary use of Touch ID.

Actually, my iPhone 6 has been nearly flawless. I've been pleasantly surprised because I've seen some 5S' have issues.

Hey guys this is a huge +1. I think we should look into this because I had a ton of issues with Touch ID on my 5s and it's perfect on my 6.

Touch ID on my iPhone 6 is pretty hit or miss. Usually if it fails the first time I just enter the passcode. However, Touch ID with my work iPhone 5s is flawless.

Go figure.

It also has a lot to do with how you set it up.

A lot of people make the mistake of setting up Touch ID by placing the phone on a flat surface and placing their finger on the sensor perfectly.

Touch ID needs to be set up with you placing your finger like you would use your phone every day.

The only time I've had problems with Touch ID is just after I've washed my hands in hot water.

I've had issues that are bizarre. Clean hands but it just won't work. I try a little later, and it works. Nothing has changed. Sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn't.

I've tried redoing my fingerprints and that helped a but the issues remain - intermittent failures.

Mine has worked well for me across multiple devices. But I do know of people that seem to constantly have an issue with it. Always in the 60+ demographic so maybe that has something to do with it! No offense to anyone 60+. :)

The TID on my iP6 works perfectly with my finger at any angle. Not the same experience for you?

Well, dang! Good for you then.
Mine has been unreliable.
It only works 7/10 of the time when my finger is perfectly dry.
It NEVER works when there is even a slight hint of moisture in my finger, be it sweat or water. That means the touch ID works less than 25% of the time when I needed the darn thing to work.

have you tried registering a finger when it is in that state?

or after you have had a bath?

of course once Touch ID people work the code to allow for these you won't have to. I don't run into the same problems so just offering a possible solution for you.

I set them both up the same way (in hand). Odd thing is it always works with Apple Pay, just really hit or miss with unlocking.

Mine fails sometimes when it's freezing outside.

have you tried registering a cold finger?

A next-generation product will have upgraded features from the current product?! NO WAY!

Bang up reporting Mac Rumors. You should write a post about how the iPhone 6S will have a faster processor and be cooler than the current iPhone.

In other news, next-generation iPhone said to feature A9 processor, with faster CPU, GPU.

The next Apple hardware product is going to be better than the one it replaced. Wow what a shock.

And will it come with a better processor and be thinner and lighter too!?!

This just in:

iphone 6s to release in Q3, improved camera, improved touchID, improved GPU, improved CPU.

These analyst are masters of the secrets.

Exactly. New iPhone is even better than the last one? Shocker.

Actually it's not obvious at all that they'd be improving Touch ID because they've supposedly used the same sensors in all their Touch ID products. But nice job on originality, seriously all of you...

To all the fanboys above, I use TouchID like 100 times a day, and I get errors very often. The sensor is extremely accurate when working under "normal" conditions. But as soon as you finger is a little wet or dirty, the accuracy drops significantly.

So, to my understanding, a better and more accurate TouchID is possible, and this would be a nice add-on.

I think you might have outted yourself as someone who doesn't own an iPhone by starting your comment with the term "fanboy," but continue...

reduced errors?

how the **** will that work?

mines been absolutely prefect.

I don't get it, Touch ID has been working perfectly for me.

TouchID already works perfectly for me.

Get ready for iOS 9 to make Touch ID less accurate on older devices, just to make the difference more noticeable ;)

(I really want to be joking, but that's what Apple did with iPhone 4 camera, iOS 7 made pictures more grainy.)

2015.... and it begins. I guess we'll start seeing the leaks for 6s soon.

I don’t know, I was pretty sure that Apple would just not bother with Touch ID, take the Onion’s advice, and get all the engineers to work on printers instead. As it stands, I think I already have a better record on Apple predictions than Gene Munster or Digitimes. My suggested alternative for relying on Ming Chi Kuo’s predictions – ask yourself a question about Apple, then flip a coin. You’ll be right 50% of the time, as will he.

reduced errors?

Ming Chi Kuo gets his info based on supply chain leaks so he's probably conflating the Touch ID's failure rate from the factory (<5% ?) with the failure rate of customers (<.01%)

Well unlocking your phone is clearly number 1... but more of a service. More apps should use the password capability within apps.

Oh... and another article bought to you by the nice people at KGI Securities.

Better call Kuo.

The Touch ID on my iPhone 6, works ok - but I had to add my thumb print as 4 separate inputs to get there.

I hope this is not a major feature they will introduce, I find the 6 touch id to be very good. 5S was hit and miss, but the 6 is very good.
