I am all for improving things, so I am happy about it. My personal experience is that it works almost 100% of the time. By the time I have taken it out of my pocket it is usually unlocked. I suppose people who are in the building trade etc, will have more problems as they might get little cuts on their fingers a lot, also people who use hand creams might get failed scans.
So any improvement is a good thing, it would be great if all users get a good experience.

So now we know why Apple wanted sapphire screens on iPhones. With the failed GT Advanced deal, it may be quite a bit longer before we get to that point.

I think that pressure input (Apple Watch) and touch ID embedded in the display is setting up the removal of the home button. A hard press would always take you back to the home screen, an always on Hey Siri would remove the need for a press and hold the home button, and a pressure slide up could summon the multi tasking screen.

Mine has been flawless so far. Sometimes I wonder how it even works when I feel that my finger isn't placed properly.

Of course I had an S5 before and I am not sure why they even bothered having a finger print reader on it. It never worked on the S5 and that is the main reason I came over to the iPhone 6

Is that the new iPhone 6s design in the pics? looks nice,

/s

If history is any guide (for iPhone physical designs, it has), then that is what the 6s will look like, just updated internals...the interesting question (for me) will be whether Apple goes to 2GB of RAM from 1GB with this next generation.

you didn't look did you. Its an iPhone 5/5s

You mean by putting my thumb on the sensor and it not unlocking

Sorry but don't blame the user when an apple product is not working perfectly.

Yes its working for you, but assuming that its perfect and working for everyone else is wrong.

You're right - I keep my hands meticulously clean and only get positive recognition from the touch sensor about half the time. I just got the 6plus and it's a bit better than the 5S, but not much.

Apparently it doesn't work as well in the North where I live (Montreal).

When you're outside at -30°C, the skin shrinks, the fingerprint differs, and it doesn't work anymore. Gloves don't always save the day.

everyone always dumps on 8 but 8 actually seemed to have tidied up TouchID for me, I haven't had an error since it came out. 7.1 seemingly refused to take my print half of the time.

Personally, I don't think that MR needs to write a blog post for EVERY SINGLE new piece of information that Ming-Chi Kuo posts or writes. This latest report is just pure common sense! Every year we see improvements to various features and is a given.

Nothing new to read here. Move on MR!

Only problem I have with it is I can't give permission to download apps from the app store using it. What happened to this?

Unless this news was about it working with grime on your hand (no mention of that), not sure what your saying? The use of "fanboys" almost makes me doubt you actually have an Iphone... But, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt ;-).

Thanks for your gratitude ! Please excuse my arrogance, that's how French people are :)

You'd be surprised to know that not only I do have an iPhone, but I also happen to have an iPad and a Mac. I like Apple products, I just try to put their marketing into some perspective to make my opinion. That being said, TouchID is superb technology, but far from being perfect.

----------

I think you might have outted yourself as someone who doesn't own an iPhone by starting your comment with the term "fanboy," but continue...

Thanks for letting me continuing ! So, I've had an iPhone since 2008 and I feel it's hands down the best smartphone on the market. I was just saying that TouchID is nice, but not perfect. That's all.

Oh come on, we haven't had one day below-30 (only with windshill a few night it went below that int the early morning). Its cold, but is not Siberia in Montreal. Yes, I'm currently living there. Also, if its -30, I think your phone is not working unless you kept inside your coat.... Works on my g-friends phone, though I try to keep my fingertips sort of most with cream and keep my hands warm most of the time ;-) (I got a 3gs, no touch-Id obviously).

This is clearly the iPhone 6/6+.

To all the fanboys above, I use TouchID like 100 times a day, and I get errors very often. The sensor is extremely accurate when working under "normal" conditions. But as soon as you finger is a little wet or dirty, the accuracy drops significantly.

So, to my understanding, a better and more accurate TouchID is possible, and this would be a nice add-on.

I entered one thumb under the following conditions:
• plain
• Doritos encrusted
• wet
• sticky
• wrapped in a Band-Aid

So far, not a single miscue.

*giggle*

I wouldn't say mine has been 100% perfect but most of the times it hasn't worked it's been me not putting my finger on the sensor properly, or a bit of sweat or something on the button.

That said want it to be used for more things, recently my bank started using it which is fantastic.

Actually, for me, I've had to retrain myself on waking up my screen, because I've always used the home button to wake up the screen. Since I tend to keep my finger on the button the screen unlocks when all I really wanted was to see the existing notifications.

THIS^.

Far to often do i open my phone on accident. Not really a problem i just go to the app. it's not as bad as is used to be since I'm now used to it. however since i went from a 5 to a 6+ this is my first TouchID phone and it takes some getting used too.
