no apps, 32GB, as small or smaller than the current nano = sale

a touch screen at that size can't improve functionality, can it? people can't be convinced to pay the same amount for less features (no camera, no radio, same storage space) just because of a touch screen, can they?

i'm hoping this is just the new remote for the iTV.

iPad nano?

maybe for all those who complain a 10" screen is too large to carry around all the time... :)

iPad - nano connection?

Remember when the iPad debuted without the weather & stock apps, and there were rumors of a widget/dashboard-y interface to come?

Well maybe it's still coming and those widgets would fit perfectly on a 3cm screen like the new iPod nano's?

I can't see how a full-fledged iOS app could run on this screen.

1) No more camera
2) Small fatty design
3) No increase in capacity
4) Touch wheel gone

What 20 something genius had to go and muck with what had evolved into a beautiful little player? All they had to do was up the capacity on the existing model....but no, someone just had to go and redesign perfection into something that will be as popular as the last shuffle....

iPod Nano....RIP

Why?????????????
Remember Apple killed off the iPod mini when it came out with the radically smaller and redesigned nano?

I think we're seeing here the killing off of the nano, to be replaced with this new, 3cm, touchscreen, iPod femto.

Apple has never been afraid to kill off something successful when they have a better idea.

This is the most inexplicable device I have ever heard of Apple allegedly producing. What is the point in replacing the iPod nano with a glorified Shuffle? This thing would be useless for watching video, can you imagine trying to hold it without it being utterly perverse, never mind making out the picture? I cannot make sense of this nonsense. Surely this can't be the iPod nano, it has to be a new iPod line entirely? In fact, I'm half-inclined to say it's an advanced accessory of some sort, but the gap for the Dock Connector in the cases gives me pause.

One may argue that if you're listening to music on an iPod Nano or smaller, you're doing it for the access, not the quality. Streaming a normal .MP3 file isn't that big a deal now.
.

I agree with a nano. I am just making general comments on the way the consumer electronics world is changing. I have a Classic, but am looking to (hopefully by January) get my iPhone. I will get all the apps and what not for that guy. Otherwise, the iPod is strictly for my music.
