Wow, this actually sounds pretty cool.

I've been waiting for an excuse to upgrade my MacBook, and it's nice to see some real innovation coming in the Mac space for the first time in a while.

Let's just hope it has more than one USB port!

the new MacBook Pro will be "the most significant upgrade ever undertaken by Apple."

Got the message? It's clear and loud, and the source is reliable. Give Apple the benefit of doubt, they deserve it, and they've earned it.

To complain behind a keyboard is so much easier.
I think this'll be a nice refresh the product line badly needs, but I am worried about there only being USB-C ports. People compare it to the removal of the floppy drive and ADB port, but remember, no less than five standards (MagSafe, USB-A, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort/Thunderbolt 2, SD card slot) are being dropped all at once. That has not happened before to my knowledge.

I will be highly surprised if Apple dropped USB3 on the MBP.

So would this mean that touch ID is only for powering the MBP on/off? I was hoping it would be used like the iphone's where you can use touch ID to unlock pass-codes for password protected sites/files. I don't see how that would be possible if it's part of the power button??

So next 60-90 days we could/will see
  • Updated iPhone
  • Updated Watch
  • Updated MacBookPro
  • Updated iOS
  • Updated OS X
  • Updated WatchOS
Maybe these as well?
  • Updated iPad/Mini
  • Updated iPad Pro 12"
  • Updated iMac 5k/8k
  • Updated Mac mini

I'll be the most positive person on this forum when your message is true. First I want real evidence in the form of a real 'most significant upgrade ever undertaken by Apple' product. I've have enough of 'amazing', 'thrilled', 'you only see this at Apple'. I want to be amazed for real.

I fear this is another we heard you moment like the mac pro. They toss out a new model every one explodes then apple goes back to forgetting about this segment and never updates it again. This is your chance tim update the whole line up in one sitting. Promise to keep updates coming admit you let things go long in the tooth.

I think this whole apple car non-sense is eating them alive from the inside out. They are shoveling resources at Titan like we are actually going there and pulling power away from old projects like the macbook and the iPhone

What would be great is if the Dock was on the OLED Touch Bar,but you couldn't really do drag and drop...

Yes, provided you are suspected of engaging in criminal activity, probable cause is established, and a signed warrant is issued by a judge.

You may also elect to not use touch id and continue using your password.
Or use both, since Touch ID will likely only work within a limited time window from the last time you used it successfully. Just like the iPhone.

I really hope you're right. Issue with the pictures is that it shows 2x USB C on either side.

I'm just as worried what they'll be doing with MagSafe. I'd be heartbroken if they ditched it from the Pro portables.
