That's great news.It is now, the Qi 2 spec is MagSafe as an open spec. It’s just that we’re only now starting to see Qi 2 chargers trickle in.
Rain and laundry is my question. Can you imagine washing your shirt so now it doesn’t charge? That's great news.
If you want a good laugh at my expense, I thought this in the context of the videogame Cyberpunk? One of the characters wears a jean jacket with a glowing logo on the back and while out on a walk I was thinking about how they would charge it 😂.
The Mac version of MagSafe would suck because you can’t rotate it, so you gain little over usb c. The iPad has two valid ways of holding it, so it would almost be better than on the iPhone which is almost always held in portrait.I wouldn’t be shocked if we got MagSafe 3 on the iPad Pro. Whenever I’d hear the MagSafe rumors, I always thought the iPhone’s MagSafe didn’t make sense, but the MacBook’s MagSafe makes perfect sense.
Shirt no, but you're already not washing a jacket very often...and so long as you can enclose the electronics in a water tight, translucent silicone membrane…Rain and laundry is my question. Can you imagine washing your shirt so now it doesn’t charge?![]()
I would like to see a mac like magsafe charging for iPad too since the early days. The one constant fail point for me has always been the charge port for iPad.I dunno, wireless charging on an iPad has less appeal to me. There’s the question of where do you put the puck, as well as the sweet spot problem but in reverse. MagSafe makes those less annoying, sure, but I’d rather see a return to Mac-like MagSafe charging, at least for the iPad. (Maybe Apple could create a standard for a magnetic break-away USB-C connector, for power at least if not also data.)
I know this isn't serious but there is actually a fair amount of work being done on charging wearable devices that involve all sorts of passive charging through body heat, movement, etc. And from what I've seen, it's very doable, just needs refinement and scaling advances. One of the characters wears a jean jacket with a glowing logo on the back and while out on a walk I was thinking about how they would charge it 😂.
This flaw does not get enough attention. Wireless charging consumes nearly 50% more energy than just plugging in a cable.wireless charging of an iPad is ver inefficient, a company that claims it cares for the environment should not do that.
That is exactly right. MagSafe 3 is the only one that makes sense.I wouldn’t be shocked if we got MagSafe 3 on the iPad Pro. Whenever I’d hear the MagSafe rumors, I always thought the iPhone’s MagSafe didn’t make sense, but the MacBook’s MagSafe makes perfect sense.
Leave it off the iPad, MacBook does better with it since it was designed toMacOS! MacOS! MacOS! I don't care about anything else from the iPad XD
