I don’t care what charging method it has if it doesn’t have landscape camera and
Wi-Fi 7 I will continue to wait

It is now, the Qi 2 spec is MagSafe as an open spec. It’s just that we’re only now starting to see Qi 2 chargers trickle in.
That's great news.

If you want a good laugh at my expense, I thought this in the context of the videogame Cyberpunk? One of the characters wears a jean jacket with a glowing logo on the back and while out on a walk I was thinking about how they would charge it 😂.

Rain and laundry is my question. Can you imagine washing your shirt so now it doesn’t charge? ;)

I wouldn’t be shocked if we got MagSafe 3 on the iPad Pro. Whenever I’d hear the MagSafe rumors, I always thought the iPhone’s MagSafe didn’t make sense, but the MacBook’s MagSafe makes perfect sense.
The Mac version of MagSafe would suck because you can’t rotate it, so you gain little over usb c. The iPad has two valid ways of holding it, so it would almost be better than on the iPhone which is almost always held in portrait.

Shirt no, but you're already not washing a jacket very often...and so long as you can enclose the electronics in a water tight, translucent silicone membrane…

(I put way too much thought into this.)

If it does get a glass back, it will likely be getting Qi2 MagSafe, which can have its problems but might just be better for parity in the wireless charging aspect of the mobile Apple ecosystem. Honestly seeing another commenter's example picture of the Mac display stand and looking at an iPhone in StandBy on a MagSafe nightstand charger makes me think they'll make a charging stand that docks the iPad like the Pixel tablet and maybe also be a home hub with an always-on display if it also gets an OLED (or even mini-led on the 11") finally instead of making the HomePod with a screen rumor that's been floating around. This could be a perfect opportunity to upgrade the smart connector to a MagSafe 3 to charge directly since it can already be done by plugging in an attached Magic Keyboard. Wouldn't be suprised if wireless charging and OLED upgrades would also raise the IPP base price to $999.

After owning an iPad pro (M2) for a while now, I can think of a couple things I’d like.

1) Mac OS :)
2) MagSafe charging would be nice
3) Broader range of software & the software that exists to be more feature rich. It has an M2! It should have the ability to do so much more than what is available. Honestly, I am not a fan of the idea of Apple being forced to allow side loading on iPhones, but the iPad Pro almost makes the case just to be able to get more options on there.

I love the iPad Pro but it just often feels like it is limited by what is available for it.

This would be awesome if it comes out for all models. As my children break cables every couple of months and now their iPad lightning port is **** too.

I'm confused by MagSafe. On the one hand I keep hearing about how batteries getting hot while charging is a super bad thing, but on the other I also keep seeing wattages on chargers skyrocket. And whenever I've used MagSafe charging, my phone has gotten much hotter than it does via any other method.

So is this really all just about convenience and **** battery life? Should I care? Should I buy home fire insurance?

I dunno, wireless charging on an iPad has less appeal to me. There’s the question of where do you put the puck, as well as the sweet spot problem but in reverse. MagSafe makes those less annoying, sure, but I’d rather see a return to Mac-like MagSafe charging, at least for the iPad. (Maybe Apple could create a standard for a magnetic break-away USB-C connector, for power at least if not also data.)
I would like to see a mac like magsafe charging for iPad too since the early days. The one constant fail point for me has always been the charge port for iPad.

I know this isn't serious but there is actually a fair amount of work being done on charging wearable devices that involve all sorts of passive charging through body heat, movement, etc. And from what I've seen, it's very doable, just needs refinement and scaling advances.

I don’t think the current composition of the iPhone glass scales up.

If it’s “glass” it’s going to be one of those glass composites that Apple has been patenting for years now.

Hmm I got a MagSafe case for my 13 Pro and a Belkin MagSafe charging stand, not going to lie it’s pretty cool and works well. Will be interesting to see if the iPad gets it. I guarantee though that the iPad will not get a glass back for it.

wireless charging of an iPad is ver inefficient, a company that claims it cares for the environment should not do that.
This flaw does not get enough attention. Wireless charging consumes nearly 50% more energy than just plugging in a cable.

Well if that's the case, companies that create cases where you can charge your iPad wirelessly (sorry guys, I can't say the name of the company here due to rules in this forum) are going to be effected. However, having a glass back iPad is an awful idea. It just adds more weight to the iPad. Let's hope they figure out a better solution for wireless charging.

The old Logitech Base charger was a deeply flawed item and it was still fantastic because of just how damn convenient it was. Would love to see magnetic charging and a drop in dock return.

That is exactly right. MagSafe 3 is the only one that makes sense.

Will be good to have StandBy along with wireless charging on the next iPad Pro. Looks like there will be significant changes.
